Can I ask why you watch? I've never seen you say anything positive about this show in 6 seasons and yet you still watch.

I've stated many times why I watch. Go back and read the thread for the ten times I've answered this question if you really want to know.

as for your comment about you've never seen me say anything positive in 6 seasons... just go read the first four pages of the thread... where I was continually calling the show AMAZING. Or pretty much every other page of this thread where I'll bitch about a couple episodes and then come back on the next back and laud the next couple episodes. It's been different this season because since the Glenn not death, it's be atrocious almost all the way around, but even THIS season, I've given credit to decent episodes.

But hey, you want to paint with a broad brush for some reason, go ahead if it makes you feel better for some reason.

good lord... that was an awesome episode. Liked the last two.

I mean... I've NEVER said a good word about this show? This was posted only three weeks ago. When the show is good, it gets kudos. When the show sucks, I slam it. This season is sucked much more then it was good.

I appreciated the build up...the growing sense of helplessness the crew must have been feeling to find the saviours had them not only blocked, but anticipated, at every turn.

Not too sure about that ending though...the behind the scenes guys were on talking dead,...and they explained it as this episode was about tearing the group down...making them lose their comfort and feelings of being safe...and that the whole.."who got killed" and everything that comes with it is an entirely different story for next season. I buy it.... not saying I like it..or that I think it was the right thing to do... but I see the logic. I personally think the same thing would have been accomplished if they had played the scene out...exposed who was killed,..and had Negan send them on their merry way with instructions minus one member.
Jeff Morgan did a really good job with that scene...built up a bit of psychotic menace. Looking forward to seeing what he does with it next season.

Personally....I think it was Abraham..... who else could take a bat swing to the nugget and still be sitting upright?

Pretty much this...... except I am cool with how they got to the end and why.

can I ask why? You knew they were going to reveal Negan and you knew he was going to kill someone. So what exactly did you get out of the Season Finale? There wasn't any surprise... any revelation... any opening up of new storylines (except for the Knights on horses I guess). It was all just one massive stall to get to Negan and that moment... for literally 8 episodes. And then the moment comes... and they stall again?

These cliffhangers are getting a little old. How will Rick and his gang get out of this one? Tune in next week folks!

My wife and I thought for sure that a main character would die this episode, but that doesn't appear to be the case. I'm betting the writers whimp out and that Eugene is the one who ultimately dies since he already gave the plans to Rick for the bullets. Even worse would be Aaron who conveniently tagged along. He might as well have been wearing a red Star Fleet uniform. Glenn, Daryl, or at the very least Abraham needs to die to maintain some integrity.

Oh and I'm sick of Carol and her drastic psyche change. Hope she dies too. But, I'm sure she'll survive 3 bullet wounds w/o proper medical care. That scene was so predictable. Who didn't know Morgan was going to have to kill that guy?

The writers need a shake-up.

I don't mind cliffhangers but leaving your fanbase questioning who died rather than how the group will respond is a mistake, IMO. I'd predict this turned more people off of the show than it will turn on. Like Cheese said, it was lazy to build up a character and event for almost a full season only to reveal both but not fully commit in showing who was snuffed out.

Given the angles and what was said, Rick and Carl are definitely fine. I think everyone to Rick's left is ok also, that includes Carl, Sasha, Eugene, and Aaron. Negan, from the comics at least, isn't a fan of hurting women so Rosita, Maggie, and Michonne are eliminated with that line of thinking leaving Glenn, Abraham, and Daryl. I hope it's Daryl but I suspect it was Abraham. For it to be Glenn would be the ultimate slap in the face, saving him repeatedly and then killing him just like in the comics but not confirming it for 6 months.

On a side note, they've painted themselves into a corner as far as how they market Season 7 when it comes back. They can show Rick, Carl, and Negan but outside of those 3 who can they really use prominently, Carol and Morgan? There isn't anyone that is important that can be displayed in commercials, TV appearances, or anything to hype the shows return.

I agree...I hope they do not go with an all Carol and Morgan season premier...that would be really weak....

I kinda figured the same with Rick and Carl...kill one,...you have to kill them both...because the other will never be controlled after that.

Killing off Eugene would be a total cop out...really do think it was Abraham,....he was ready to start having babies after all.........

I think it is Abraham as well, he and Sasha were finally officially a "thing" and he and Eugene said all their goodbyes and made nice.

Once they get past the big reveal next season(meh) there will finally be some potential for good storytelling. The gang has been torn down and the most complex and terrifying villain yet has been introduced. As long as the writers don't totally crap the bed next season should be pretty good.

Like someone said, this season was just a giant tease to get to this point.

So, from what I'm reading, they burned a bunch of episodes doing nothing more than...setting up a villain for NEXT season?

they burned almost an entire SEASON doing that.

the other thing that always seemed so weird to me was you have the whole show's foundation, wayyyyyy back in the day, starting with Morgan and Rick, a really good relationship formed and guys who had massively different arcs. Something they carried forward with the Clear episode when Rick met up with Morgan again... then Morgan finally tracks down Rick, sees him as a monster and then... they pretty much completely ignore that dynamic between the two of them and shoe-horn in the same conflict with Carol... a character who has ZERO relationship with Morgan? That made zero sense to me.

just read the perfect encapsulation of my biggest problem with this show.

A show about characters follows them, their beliefs, their flaws and the mistakes they make based on those beliefs and flaws. A show with characters demands that the characters fit the narrative.

This has become a show with characters, not about them. And because of that, there's just too many stunts... like Rick is in an RV surrounded by walkers... and the next episode he's totally fine... the whole Glenn not dying shamockery, Daryl getting shot (for seemingly no reason whatsoever and then being told he'll be okay) and then tonight. If you're ONLY drama is does someone die or not, and that's the only way you can keep bringing people back to the show, you're taking the easy way out. To go schmuck bait so many times is just annoying to me as a writer.

I loved Jeffrey Dean Morgan as Negan. Not sure what I think about the cliff hanger. On one hand...it makes me want to get to the next season already to find out who died. On the flip side I want to know who died. Revealing who dies at the end of the episode would have left fans with such a devastating (depending on who it is) note to end the season. I can see why they didn't want to do that.

Having said that...with the writers track record? That season ending will be severely diminished if they killed off a Tier 2 or Tier 3 character. The writers really need to deliver in terms of who was killed. If not, it just paints an entire different picture about that finale.

My biggest issue with this entire season is that it was one big setup for Negan. They could have and should have introduced him much earlier.

I wonder if the cast even knows who "died"

I guess the actors have to know if they're coming back next season.
