My fiancee's mom and dad are Colts season ticket holders. Have been for 20 years. They didn't get chosen in the team lotto for a chance to buy Super Bowl tickets.

They've been calling ticket brokers and the cheapest "package" (air + 2 nights hotel + game ticket) they've been able to find is $5500 per person. Even though they do OK financially they decided that was just insane.

So how about it? If it were the Cardinals (and let's assume you're not a millionaire for whom money is no object) would you pay that? That strikes me as completely insane. The Super Bowl would be incredible, but that's about 10-20% of the average person's salary for a year. We paid $900 apiece for White Sox world series tickets and I thought that was nuts.

(ps - if you know of a better deal pass it on!)

No way in hell I would pay that. I LOVE my Cards but most I would shell out would be about 1000.00 a ticket. Anything above that and I will be enjoying it from home!

Yeah, you'd have to ask yourself how much MORE you'd enjoy being there as opposed to watching it on the tube.

My theory is that I'd be so ecstatic for the Cards to be in the Super Bowl that I'd be happy just to see it at all - on TV or in person. If money was burning a hole in my pocket I'd pay to see it live. As long as I'm working for a living I'd be content to stay home at those prices.

The going rate for a SB package (like Ed described) is around $6K.

I'd do that for the Cards, I think.

On a separate note, I wonder if you bought airfare and a hotel room a year in advance (or however far in advance you can) every year in the host-city if you could get a better rate. Then, when your team is clearly out, you could use the airline credit for whatever other travel needs you may have and you can just cancel the hotel room. That way, you're just shelling out outrages ticket prices, not outrageous hotel/airfare.

Hell I consider myself well paid and we have a duel income family. But I am not about to pay an amount that would make my kids have to go without in order to see the game live. Just like you I would be SOO GIDDY it wouldnt matter where I would see it from.

:stupid:

That is the only time I could justify spending more than $150 on ANY sporting event.

I would rather watch on TV. If the Cardinals are in it, or not. Watching the Cards in the Super Bowl would be way too stressful.

Tickets are expensive because of DA BEARS. Chicago hasn't been to a Super Bowl in 21 years and all the money in that town is buying up the tickets.

If money fell from my trees in my backyard, yes.

That is not true so no.

The problem with tickets that expensive is I go to all the games anyway, missing one and watching it on tv wouldnt be so bad especially considering the headaches you would have to go through to attend a superbowl game and all the bandwagon punks sitting next to me.

I agree. I used to listen to them play over the radio from KMOX and later, on television. No crowds, hassles of travel, never mind the costs when you stay home. I've seen enough live games to last me a lifetime but you can't beat the comfort of home. Besides, the Superbowl isn't a game anyway, it's become an overblown event.

I think you just hit on the other reason why I wouldnt.. Anyone willing and able to spend that kinda cash is well off.. The atmosphre at the game wont be that of a typical game.. It will be corporate people looking to see and be seen.. Id prolly get kicked out within an hour.. Not a good investment for me.. Cuz you know security will be top notch for that event..

no doubt! You know I would roll into that game just like every other cardinals game and non-traditional football fans would probly be freaked out by our excessive drunkeness and trash talk.

How many of us are gonna freak out and want to go if the next super bowl (in arizona) has us in it? some little corp punk thinks he can sit in my chair? I dont think so!

The more I think about it. The more I would just stay home for the SB. However I would most certainly try and get to the NFC championship game if the cards were in it and on the road.

If the Cardinals make it to the SB, no way I pay more than $1000. If more than $1000 I rather watch it on the comfort of my house with the grill all fired up and the steaks, bratwurst and hamburgers and esp the beer not going to cost me an arm and a leg to feed my friends and family.

I'd probably get tasered.

I think I'd probably sell my seats even if I got them for free.

Go to the usual super bowl party and enjoy it with real Cards fans, and not a bunch of tuitty fruity corporate types.

If I wasn't drawn for tickets, I wouldn't go. I'd stay home and watch it with a few real football friends -- no casual or non-fans invited.

I've grown to hate the halftime shows. They often almost ruin the game for me. The NFL championship game should be all about football, not overshadowed by the music industry.

I've always wondered what the percentage is because there sure seem to be a large number of traditional, crazy, screaming fans at the game.

Raiders $5
Patriots $50
Titans $500
Cardinals - Priceless

As long as I've been waiting I'd pay just about anything to go.

I made a deal with my wife a long time ago that if the Cards made it, I would pay whatever the price to go. Granted, it wasn't $6k/person then, and she is conviced the Cards will never make it in our lifetime.

If/when it happens, I'll probably just upgrade my TV and "save" the difference.

Go Cards!!!

I could give a fast quip here, but the truth is it would depend on the situation. If next year, here in Arizona for the Superbowl and my team is in, I'd pay a fair amount to go. I wouldn't have to spend money on anything else. (And then I'd tivo the game as well.)

Otherwise, it depends on our finances versus the cost.
