Peyton hasn't said a thing publicly through all of this. EVERYTHING he "wants" is speculation.

Seriously. The first person to speculate on the AFC thing was Marshall Faulk. Then the pundits picked it up like it was gospel. Now Polian is saying the same thing.

Notice I never used the name 'Manning' in that statement?

I thought Peyton himself said this. If not I agree with you.

Having said that bill polian is an excellent source. better than any of us or most other reporters.

Forget the cardinals for a second. If peyton could sign with any other team out there aside from AZ, don't you think that the titans...a team that he has a lot of familiarity with given that they are in the same division...makes sense. add to that his tennessee roots and the fact that he can stay closer to indy?

Honestly I would say Denver would be the choice if AZ is out of the equation... better defense, about equivalent in the WR department, and the easiest division to win in the entire league as long as Norv Turner remains in SD. Similar money to spend as well.

The biggest thing the Titans have going for them - and our biggest danger - is that "he's with them" and anything can happen.

Until he's outta there, we'll be in a period of deep peril, and I won't rest easy.

Since he knows most of the AFCs defensive schemes & tendencies I think it's a legit reason for him to stay there. We'll see

All of the speculated reasons have basis in logic. But it doesn't make it true.

I'm not saying Manning doesn't want to stay in the AFC, I'm saying we have no idea because he's not said anything about it.

Yes, but Faulk's reasoning was the whole Manning-Super Bowl connection, which is just plain stupid.

I disagree. the titans bearly missed the playoffs or made the playoffs, can't remember. they were close. denver backed into the playoffs and caught the steelers sleeping(and injured). I won't try to change your mind anymore, but it is just my opinion that tennessee makes more sense than any other AFC stop unless the texans somehow throw their hat into the mix. both of those divisions are weak now, but they could change in the drop of the hat because the NFL changes so much from year to year.

I actually thought he himself said he preferred to stay in the AFC. so i was probably wrong about that. but if I'm looking for context clues a guy like Bill Polian holds a lot of weight because he is very intelligent and he knows peyton very well. even if peyton hasn't talked with him.

Every bit of the process is speculation as you say. But it seems he would've possibly interview with more than 1 NFC team in need & 3 teams from the AFC in search of another ring. Those are facts, but I also see both sides of the coin.

As a chief driver of the "Future FO Role for Manning in TN" theory, I now want to poke a big hole in that idea -

Eli.

I'd have to believe that the League would have a problem with one family member playing for one team while his brother was promised (or given a quid quo pro to get) a future ownership or FO spot with another franchise.

It would reek of conflict of interest.

The titans came out of nowehere. At the end of the year I thought the Jets or the Dolphins would have been favorites. No way Denver kicking out Tebow. The Titans giving up on Jake Locker? I mean he was a 1st round draft pick #8. You don't give up on a 1st round QB after the rookie season. Well Denver is doing it.

I don't see it that way. The Titans will hang onto Locker, for sure. Peyton might play 2 to 4 years more, and then you give the reins to Locker who he would've groomed. Tebow is very different however. Elway won't be able to trade him fast enough. No amount of grooming is going to make Tebow a good pocket passer.

When they suck at passing the ball, sure you do!!! I think it's fair to say Tebows probably never going to get much better. BTW-I think Locker sux too.

Agreed. I think one reason Denver would be so happy to get manning is it gives them maybe the only easy way out of the Tebow situation.

Reggie Wayne re ups with Indianapolis. Manning is visiting the Colts #1 Division rival.

It's all a ploy to get Isray to pony up the money and bring Peyton back to Indianapolis. Indy trades the #1 pick for 5 first round and 5 second round and 3 third round picks, restocks the team with young studs and Manning wins 2 more rings.

Wow!!! Talk about coming out of left field. :D

Put this on a forum on ESPN and see how quickly it goes national.

I agree with what ajcardfan said in response as well. what I will say to add to that is that when the titans drafted locker peyton was not available. circumstances change very fast. same for the cards who went all in on kevin kolb because they believed andy reid when he said kolb was a superbowl winning qb. after one year they have changed their mind? no, after one year peyton manning is a free agent. and peyton with a neck problem is still better than 50% of the qb's or more...

Manning has left the building. Heard that alot this past week. Along with Manning has gotten on the plane. Manning has departed the plane. Manning is entering the building. Manning is carrying a bag. What's in the bag, Reggie Wayne? Manning has just got in the car with Whisenhunt to go to the airport, anyone have the flight #? Manning is in the air, where will he go? Manning lands in Miami. Miami is the favorite. Manning meets with Tennessee. Tennessee is the favorite. Denver is the favorite, if it's a full moon, but otherwise it's the Cardinals but since we hate them Tennessee is still our favorite. Along with Denver. And Houston. And anyone not named Arizona.
