Being a cardinals fan since st louis and the air coryell days, and even before since i was 7 that would be about 1971

we never get any press unless its bad granted we hadn't done much to deserve positive press
espn did a story about a Simpson's episode where Springfield splits in two old Springfield and new Springfield homer being the mayor of new Springfield. So a guy comes walking up because new Springfield wanted an nfl franchise so the business man walks up and says"hello i represent the arizona cardinals" to which homer replies "keep walking"

A laughing stock a pop warner team playing in the nfl, That's how we have been portrayed, perhaps deservingly so but the media has done Pittsburgh and its fans a disservice in allowing them to think we are "the same old cardinals."
As a fan low these many years i can tell you what you are going to be facing next week is far from what the media will tell you,
We have an offensive line that hall of famer Russ Grimm has got to play at an all pro level.
Playing possum as Ken Whisenhunt did with Edgerinn James has given us the freshest running back in the league,

And Grimm has these kids run blocking and edge getting enough yards to keep the defense honest and make the play action pass a reality
speaking off passing three thousand yard receivers on one team,

Fitzgerald, Boldin , Breaston, and Urban or Early Doucett are going to give Pittsburgh's secondary all they can handle and more, Warner is going through something of a renaissance ,breaking records
cutting his turn over ratio way down, reading defense's like a book, Just ask phillies defensive coordinator,or Atlanta's or Charlotte's, there's nothing you all can throw at him he hasn't seen before.

Our defense which gets no press has 12 take aways in these playoffs, picked off Carolina's QB delhome 5 times
Domonique Rogers Cromrartie since winning the starting corner back job in week 10 has played at an all pro level, and is on his way to being a true shutdown corner and will be in Hines Wards hip pocket all day long

the front seven hybrid 3/4 defense we run will keep your offensive coordinator guessing all day Darnell Docket Antonio Smith Cheake Okheafer and Bertrand Berry will anchor and dominate the line of scrimmage

They will be spelled from time to time by Gabe Watson Calais Cambell Travis Laboy and Alan Branch for a play or two without much drop off.

Our secondary anchored by Adrian Wilson... For those that don't know think Troy Polomalu who will take your head off, And give your receivers a bad case of alligator arms all day long in fact his nickname is all day Adrian for a reason

Antrelle Rolle has become a ball hawk since making the move from corner to safety ,And has a nose for the endzone everytime he touche's the ball, I expect a pick six off big ben from Antrelle before the day is done.

We do have a drop off after these two Aron Francisco doesn't scare anybody
and probably never will.

Special teams has been doing an on again off again job in winning the job of field position sometimes Rackers kicks off into the end zone not allowing a return.

And graham has been pinning teams inside the 5 on punts
other times these dudes and our special teams tackling dummies allow teams to get darn near to midfield with their returns
and would, could consider this our biggest weakness

Any way i hope i have done my team a decent service to help you pitt fans understand what is going to happen to your team.

The third quarter has been our weakest for some reason so if your team has a chance of climbing back into this the 3rd qtr will be your shot,

However i expect we will be so geeked for this game there won't be much of a let down in any qtr

lets see final score cards 34 steelers 17
we believe our time is now, and its time someone told it like it is, There's always next year for you guys but this one is ours

Pass the peyote.

:mulli:

We're on their board. What else would you expect?

Of course they don't know that the 3rd Quarter is our best quarter of the game, amongst other things.

But honestly, go back to our boards, and you see the same type of postings.

Actually, the third quarter is our best also. Not against the Eagles but we are very good in this quarter.

Don't listen to the clowns in the national sports media to get an opinion of what Steeler fans and local Pittsburgh media are thinking about the Cards or any other NFL team. Nobody that I know here says the Cardinals can't win. Both teams are talented yet both have flaws/weaknesses.

As far as being informed about the Cards, note that football is a religion here in western PA (the cliche is true), and we know all about players like Breaston, whom we've followed since high school. Remember, we get NFL Sunday Ticket in the Rust Belt, too! Imagine that.

And all teams have chest thumping forum trolls, and if you listen to them, you do yourself a disservice. They are, however, fun to feed every now and then. ;)

Went to college in western PA from 76-80. Talk about the glory years for the Steelers and Pirates. Loved the people in that area. Down to earth and a lot of fun. Haven't thought about drinking Iron City in a long time.

One side of my family is from Pittsburgh, specifically Monroeville, PA; I was just there in October. I understand the loyalty and tradition. However I think it's time people began to realize that time are changing. It's time for the second loss for the Steelers in the Super Bowl.

I've heard it from 48 family members from Plum to Bethel Park and I've told them the same thing: it's our time

I've been to AZ many times (brother lived in Tempe and now lives in Scottsdale) and we've been excited about the Cardinals. The only problem is that they're playing my fav team this year. Heck, I even went to a Cards/Skins game when I lived in DC a few years ago. As far as "our time" and karma goes, forget that--it's about execution and bringing the pain!!! The Buff Bills thought it was their time four years in a row.

I was in college. Not my beer of choice but I wasn't picky.

Heehee! Same here. Cheap beer was the only beer.

You drank Iron City when Yuengling is brewed in the same state?

We would have loved Yuengling if it were available! Their distribution wasn't as big as it is today.

The Steelers have owned the third quarter throughout the season, they have phenomenal stats in them.

IMO, the general consensus from most Steeler fans is that the Cards D is pretty mediocre and our offense will do well against it. When the Cards are on offense, our D should be able to contain Fitz at times and if we can get pressure on Warner (ie: keep him moving out of the pocket, not necessarily by blitzing him either) and control the clock by running the ball, then the pending doom that a lot are saying is upon the Cards should hold true.

That's why the general consensus is that Steelers fans are an arrogant, uninformed bunch of fans. They clearly haven't paid any attention to our team. Our D is playing like gangbusters, and your offense will have to play their butts off to do well against it. Your D HOPES to be able to contain Fitz. Yes, they have a good shot to get in Warner's face, but that's where he thrives: under pressure. Your better bet on D is to disrupt the timing of the routes and try to throw Kurt off his rhythm. If you can get to him instead of merely pressuring him, that would be huge for your D as well. IF you can run the ball? Good luck. We schooled the #2 and #3 rushing offenses thus far in the playoffs. Bring it.

What nobody is talking about is the possibility of a blowout the other way. IMO, it is just as likely as you guys blowing us out. Me? I think it's going to be a hellacious game. Still, don't think you're the only team that can win big here.

That's why the general consensus is that Cards fans have stars in their eyes and really don't know what their team is up against. Seahawks fans went through the same process 3 years ago.

Your team played well in the playoffs against a couple of mediocre defenses and almost lost it toward the end with the Eagles, but the point that gets conveniently ignored by most Cards fans is that, while their team played beyond their means in the playoffs - they haven't faced a total shut-down defense like the Steelers - and don't discard the fact that your defense ranks where it is because that's how they played throughout the season. A larger population of games to gauge the true measure of that D rather than just a small sample of a couple good games.

Bell curve thing.

And if you think we're not going to be able to run the ball against the Cards bland defense, I think you're in for one of many surprises. Parker's healthy, he hasn't been for a good part of the year. Your rush defense is middle of the pack. A reasonable person wouldn't expect anything other than a solid rushing game by the Steelers.

The bigger issue is can and will the Cards try to run the ball? Last place rushing offense going up against the 2nd best rushing D in the league, I don't see that happening and that makes your offense one dimensional.

I don't see a blowout either, but the Steelers are going to try to control the clock and if they're successful in doing so, and I don't have any doubts that they can't - then the game is almost in the bag.

This is yet another example why Cards fans are viewed as bandwagoners not just by Steeler fans but in general.

Look - I'm all for yinz supporting your team, but this statement is absurd.

Would that be the Eagles Defense that the Steelers scored only 6 points against in week 3?
