The Cardinals LOVE CP, the man, but they believe he doesn’t have the arm strength any more to run this offense. Factor in the injuries, and he’s just too expensive to keep. Look for them to add both an experienced NFL QB, and draft one also. Alex Smith is 1st on their list.

Jesus Christ... if alex smith is true F this stupid ass team. Because they ain't gonna pay Smith a big contract (which he'll still get on the open market) AND trade up to get a blue chip QB in the first... which for the love of GOD they need to finally do.

These two-three year runs are nice, but they're not sustainable with old/mediocre QBs.

And Amos Jones, right?

Sadly, very sadly, you are correct. From what I hear, BA, SK, and AJ are best friends. SK’s biggest mistake, one that may sink him, he gets too close to his coaches. Michael has some tough choices this offseason.

I agree. I’m not a fan of Alex Smith. BA believes Smith has a high football IQ & has enough arm strength to succeed in his large chunk offense. Keep in mind that BA still wants to draft a young QB. The question for me is in what round?? I don’t really care what veteran QB he brings in as long as we draft a QB EARLY (1st or 2nd round).

If CP's arm strength is a concern than Alex Smith isn't the answer and after you consider the dead $$$ hit, there's little to no saving signing KC's 'dink and dunk.'

This sounds like a scenario concocted by two guys over a beer.

The Cardinals did their best to preserve CP’s arm this offseason. It appears his arm is toast. Everything I’ve heard is that the Cardinals have initiated that divorce. It sounds like AS would be a short term option. BA wants to draft a QB early if necessary, but doesn’t want to put all his eggs in a rookie QB basket.

Maybe so. If we don’t bring in a veteran QB, BA is prepared to start Gabbert next year. Gabbert will be backed up by whoever they draft. Looks like CP & MS will both be gone though.

So I'm to believe that BA offered all this detail to buddies from way-back-when?

Sorry... not buying any of this.

These are his childhood & high School football friends that are all heavily involved in the athletic departments of big time High Schools in this area. They are not drunken bums hanging out in bars. BA has never forgotten his roots. BTW, these guys are mostly Steeler fans.

The thought that BA would discuss the Cards' high level internal decisions with guys who obviously can't keep their mouths shut is preposterous to me.

If you watch “It’s a Football Life”, BA mentions that he was thrown out of York Catholic his senior year. My oldest graduated from YC & my youngest is still there. My older kids have all played college sports & my youngest is being recruited by Divsion 1 lax programs. So, I’ve developed a great relationship with the YC AD. Even though BA has never been back to YC, he still meets up with these guys. YC is still trying to renew a relationship with him. That show was bad PR for the school. Knowing I’m a hard core Cardinal Fan, it was the AD at YC that always lets me know when BA will be in town. I’m hoping I get to meet him again.

Good for you then..

Personally, I like the info and put some credibility to it. The exact players named may be speculation but the intentions of the Cards makes sense.

By now you should know that BA is old school & is different. The only guy with a big mouth is obviously ME. Maybe I’ve already said too much.

It's credible because you agree with the gist.

Ok... fine.

But since you disagree with it, it's preposterous.

If you look at my posts, I've been all about CP coming back. And anybody who's been on here for awhile know I can't stand Alex Smith.

The reason I give it credibility is because I know PA Cardsfan. And, if you think he's blowing smoke just to get validation from a poster/posters on a message board then you're sadly mistaken.

Nah, its interesting stuff and really nothing surprising. I've heard on local Phoenix talk shows that the decision for CP to play next year will not be his but the Cards and that they may not want him back. Most also think BA will be back for another year unless his health becomes an issue again. Finally we all know the Cards have to get a QB probably in both free agency for a vet and also draft a young to develop. Bottom line is that some of us do connect at times with players and coaches. We hear things and its fun reporting but the real internal stuff is kept pretty close to the vest.

Why does the thread title keep changing? This is the 3rd version I believe.

Because the thought of it all sucks as much as Alex Smith. No offense to the OP I just hope it's not happening.

It's preposterous on it's face because it suggests that BA is blabbing to childhood buddies about issues critical to the franchises immediate future, and to guys who evidently can't keep a confidence

Additionally, I've seen throws this season that demonstrate for all that CP's arm isn't dead and the idea that Smith could run the vertical side of BA's offence borders on ludicrous.
