Premiere magazine released thier top 100 movie characters of all time.
I realized I have not seen a lot of these movies.

I just have to add Milton Waddams from Office Space and Tyler Durden from Fight Club.

Anyone else have some good ones?

I'd change 15. Hannibal Lecter of The Silence of the Lambs to
1. Hannibal Lecter of The Silence of the Lambs.

Surprise, surprise. :)

Hmmm..

It would be interesting to know what their criteria was for this. Was it more the actor or actress that played the part or was it just the dialog and writing of the character?

..because "99. Kevin McCallister of Home Alone" took some guts to put on this list :doi:

And Antoine Doinel sandwiched between Kevin McCallister and Ace Ventura??

Proof that Premiere is a horrible magazine. :D

They have a little explaination on ecah choice if you follow the link in the quote. I seems like much of it is pop culture reference.

This list is indeed Scheisse!

Yea, I am not sure how Gordon Gecko made the list, much less coming in above Darth Vader.

At least the Home Alone kid was next to last. :)

Ash should be on that list for sure.

Darth Vader should be in the top twenty.

Jack Sparrow should be in the top fifty.

Also left off...

The Joker: Batman

Chet - Wierd Science

Steve Buscemi's character in Fargo

Joe Pesci - Goodfellas

although these were "Supporting Actors", I feel that they actually stole the spotlight and are very popular characters. When you think of these movies, these are who you think of, IMO.

96. Tommy DeVito of GoodFellas

They listed the lady cop Marge Gunderson from Fargo.
I also thought William H Macy's character was excellent from Fargo.

I don't think I would have recognized that as Joe Pesci's character if I had not read the explanation on Premiere's site.

I love that movie.

Many might not agree, but The Sheriff of Nottingham from Robin Hood Prince of Thieves. I'm sorry, but Alan Rickman is great in everything he does, and his role opposite the flat (and that's being polite!) Kevin Costner was outragously evil and slimy yet fun. I heard Costner cut a bunch of his scenes to avoid being upstaged, and he was STILL upstaged.

Hell yeah. Alan Rickman is an incredibly underrated actor.

Sheriff of Nottingham: [to a *****] You. My room. 10:30 tonight.
Sheriff of Nottingham: [to another *****] You. 10:45... And bring a friend.

My vote would go to Detective Cameron from Night of the Creeps played by Tom Atkins. "Thrill me!"

Conspicuous in their absence:

  • Jose Wales from Outlaw Jose Wales
  • Butch Cassidy From Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
  • Hal from 2001: A Space Oddessy
  • Howard the Duck from Howard the Duck

...I'm kidding about that last one.
