If a quarterback isn't the top pick in the 2025 NFL draft, most pundits feel like it will be Penn State edge defender Abdul Carter. However, that might be in jeopardy as Carter plans to skip the Penn State pro day on Friday. According to his agent Drew Rosenhaus, via ESPN NFL reporter Adam Schefter, Carter is continuing to work his way back from a shoulder injury and this is why he won't be working out. Rosenhaus noted Carter still might do an individual pro day at some point in mid April.
It was also reported that Carter has a foot injury as well. The injury was discovered during medicals at the NFL scouting combine and forced an early exit. It is believed Carter will attend the Penn State pro day on Friday just for measurements.
The Tennessee Titans currently hold the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft followed by the Cleveland Browns. Both are teams in dire need of a quarterback but would have a hard time passing on Carter. After signing Jameis Winston and Russell Wilson, it feels like the lowest Carter could slide would be to the New York Giants at No. 3 overall assuming he checks out medically.
