So Mike Scott, Jared Sullinger and 2 2nds for PJ Tucker and a "heavily protected" 2nd. I know we tend to devalue our guys, but that still doesn't seem very good for us.

If anything, this gives the keys to the SF position squarely in TJ Warren's hands. Wonder if that wakes him up.

The Suns defense will really be bad so this trade should make winning harder.

I don't really care about our current team defense. I'm concerned about the future--and the only good thing about this deal is that it opens up more time for Warren. Other than that, the rest of them are useless. Sullinger and Scott are borderline 10th men at best. And 2 late 2nd rounders are worth next to nothing.

I guess another positive is that we turned an expiring into possible future assets. But that's a pretty weak "possible".

What happened to Sullinger's career? I forgot about that guy. Decent passing, solid rebounding big with some range... you'd think he'd be carving himself out a decent career right now, rather than being a piece of meat in a throwaway trade.

Tucker was an expiring contract. The Suns team's defense got worse looking forward to draft position.

It's about looking towards the future as you say.

You think so? How many wins did PJ Tucker give us and how many more losses will we now have because he's gone? I'd say the over/under is 1. At best.

Yeah, I think it gets us more ping pong balls. Not just that Tucker is removed but that it means more minutes for Chriss, Bender (when he is back) and Warren, guys who are unquestionably playing much worse than Tucker was. It is a good thing, those guys need PT, but IMO we're unquestionably worse.

You are pretty optimistic for this board... :)

IMO, not having Tucker won't affect our draft position because he wasn't good enough to affect whether we win or not.

My thoughts as well. I thought we wanted him in the recent past. I guess he will take Tucker's power forward minutes. I also remember Scott being decent, not so long ago, but his numbers are horrible. Maybe Bender will not be back this year. If Bender does return I hope he gets minutes.

I think there may be a distinct possibility that Scott will be waived. If we keep Sully, then that opens up backup SF minutes for Dudley instead of starting/backup PF behind Chriss.

IMO without his defense the Suns would have at least 3 more losses. One or two more losses the rest of the way could be the difference between the 2nd and 5th pick.

I am pretty sure that Sullinger will never suit up for us.

Why would we do that after giving up cash for him and a heavily protected 2nd round pick?

I think Scott is a practice body so that Chriss can play against a real PF in practice and not against Jared Dudley.

It's hard to say how much PJ's been doing for the club. He's been helping Booker get tougher in practice. Perhaps he has kept us close in some games that we have won. Mainly his defense, not so much on offense off course.

Most positive thing I can see is more minutes for Warren, Chriss and Bender. But knowing Watson I think we'll see a chubby Dudley suit up for 30 mpg for the rest of the season.

This link says it nicely.

Rooting for Toronto to go deep in the playoffs. Godspeed, PJ!

I think the loss of Tucker hurts the Suns defensively which likely will cost them a game or two.

The scary part is the Suns may go full-blown offense and win some games that way.

Bender might be out indefinitely, so...
