we would be stupid to trade Knight for nothing.

He is 25 yrs old and even with the poopy season he has, he has better career stats than guard like Kentavious Caldwell-Pope that will make more money than him. Or Jordan freaking Clarkson.

His contract is rather cheap at 12M$ and it does not hinder us in any way.

"According to Sam Amick of USA Today, the Suns would move Brandon Knight for a high second-round pick or an expiring contract.

The Suns have been shopping him unsuccessfully and a second-round pick might be ambitious at this point. Knight has been a disaster this season and is on the books through the 2019-20 season. He could have some value if he's moved to an ideal location, but there are better stashes out there right now. No trade is imminent."

Thats funny. They are just trying to give him a away now. Great job Mcdonough. Great vision that guy has. He's all about long term strategic planning. He knows what he's doing!

I find that hard to believe. What would our motivation be to do that?

The only explanation I see would be doing Knight a favor.

I think Knight wants to be traded plus he has been patient. His patience may not last forever. Plus a the big reason to trade him is his salary.

His salary is nothing.

Jordan Clarkson makes that much, Luol Deng, Mozgov..

Average free agents make that much money in todays NBA and we are under the salary floor and have nothing to do with our capspace.

I do think it is more than salary. He would be an unhappy camper if he is pushed towards the end of the bench and I think Ulis would take his minutes.

I'm not hearing any trade rumors regarding Jared Dudley. This is still a puzzling signing for 3 years, 30 million as I view it.

Dudley was brought in to be a mentor/role model for the young guys. I dont mind having him on the roster as a 7th-8th guy. it makes zero sense to have him and Tucker on the team let alone on the court at the same time.

Not to mention, we are actually under the salary cap floor. Couple that with trying to trade away Knights 14 million....they actually need to TAKE BACK more salary to get above the floor.

Chances are they are going to claim a vet that gets cut today (like Bogut) just to get over the floor. In that scenario, you get to count Boguts entire salary for cap purposes but only pay him the prorated amount that's left for the remainder of the season (that rule is changing in the new CBA though to close the loophole.

The Suns have too many mentors in Price, Dudley, Tucker and Chandler.

Cap is going to be roughly 106 million next year. Divide that by 13 roster spots = 8.15

a 10 million $ player isn't that much above avg anymore. Only players on rookie deals are going to be below that more than likely going forward.
