The US is weird man. I've never heard of this anywhere in the UK or Europe.

I just looked it up and the US Gov website says,

"No employer is required by law to provide a permanent lactation room, although many do. If you don't have space for a permanent room, consider using an existing office, closet, or storage area on an as-needed basis, screening off an area in a larger space, or providing a car windshield cover or a single-person pop-up tent."

So I have no idea why the article is complaining that women only had a disused office.
What was the condition of the office?

We have a small space - large enough for a comfortable chair, a small bed, a smaller fridge, cabinet space for storage and sufficient floor space for someone to stretch out.

Not really that much of an expense, but it is something to make users comfortable.

It is also used by Muslim employees for daily prayers, and can be used if someone needs to "take a break" for mental health.

No doubt. I just felt like the article was presented as if it were investigative journalism and it mostly just rehashed what we already know. I want to know if things are the same today as they were when this information went public. Just adding more "I was unhappy because" comments with no context and nothing specific about when this happened didn't impress me.
The terrible news around the organization is never ending, and Michael is a little dictator and bully.

"Many at the Arizona Cardinals' offices know about the wall.Answers vary on when it erected. What doesn't change is the reason it was built.Michael Bidwill didn't want female employees fraternizing with male staffers."

I want that terrible family to go away - they are an embarrassment to our state and to the NFL.

I'd never heard of the team constructing a wall so that coaches and other football people couldn't talk to staff.

I'd never heard that Michael centered his office in the building where he had an aura of uncomfortable employees around him.

I'd never heard that the Cards had a Chief People Officer (LOL) that resigned after a couple months.

I'd never heard that the team gym was closed to female employees.

Kalyn Kahler isn't some aggregator. She's a real reporter who talked to 100 current and former employees. This isn't made up stuff.

Fair points. Maybe I judged the article too harshly but it sure felt to me like there was a lack of specifics. And no timeline, nothing to indicate whether these are historical issues or whether they are still continuing right now. There was no smoking gun, nothing that changed the way I felt about the organization. I knew the situation had been deplorable before I read that article, after reading that article I still knew the situation had been deplorable.

Is April 2023 not recent enough?

"When McDonough’s allegations made headlines in April, the Cardinals held an emergency all-staff meeting to reassure employees. Later that month, every employee received invitations from Mayo and Tina Givens, senior director of people operations, to attend another listening session.

The April listening sessions took place in the executive conference room in the center of the second floor. The shades were lowered, but the location was public — anyone in the office could see who was coming and going. In at least one case, the session ended before the employees were done sharing their concerns.

Sixty minutes wasn’t enough time."

Sixty minutes wasn't enough time. Sounds like everything is cleaned up on Hardy!

there is a pretty good rule i go by that says: Never attribute to malice what can be explained by incompetence.

i read that article and see a guy in an executive position who had never led or managed anybody prior to being in that position-- and has no idea what he is doing.

being a jerk for a boss isnt illegal -- its just really bad for business.

Lol, you think this is all incompetence and no malice? Did you read the article at all?

And has had everything in life handed to him, with every desire met - so has zero clue how the little things can make a big difference.

I think Michael is a sour idiot who isn't respected by the rest of the league or the local business community. He takes that out on his employees.

Its a take. He's Vice Chairman of the Arizona Commerce Authority. Seems odd he would hold such a position if he was widely not respected.

So bizzare - he actually must be a thought leader!

Here's a crazy thought - guy who has been given everything in life without deserving it gets...another position he doesn't deserve! He'd certainly be the only rich person that's ever happened to.

I guess. I'm sure you know a whole lot about how local politics and industry works here in Phoenix from all the way across the pond.

I'm fairly sure that nowhere in the world are people that are disliked or not respected in their area installed in the top 3 positions of their industry associations.

I think there's enough to dislike Bidwill for without making things up.

What on earth are you basing that on? Is it honestly an epiphany to you that people who aren't necessarily liked/respected can be in high positions within organizations?

Ok. I mean, I was born and raised in the Phoenix area and have worked in some of the largest companies in the state. I guess I don't understand how this works.

Thanks for giving me the perspective from Sussex or wherever you are.

I think it's pretty obvious when EVERYONE AT ALL LEVELS OF THE ORGANIZATION, from former execs, to players, to back office nobodies all have terrible things to say about MB and the culture.

The Bidwill family is an absolute curse - not only are they horrible owners, they infect the entire building with their nastiness.

It's hilarious the same people continue to minimize and downplay what is going on there - MULTIPLE articles talking about what a trash culture and environment it is.
They were the same people who repeatedly minimized and downplayed any negative story that came out about Sarver, claiming there was an ESPN conspiracy against him and even still hedged once that horrific story dropped right before the 2021-2022 season and only came out with full throated disgust and acceptance of how awful he was in every way once it looked beyond preposterous to defend.

Hopefully the results are the same!

Mike presents to his peers in the business community as a decent enough person, although people who do business with the Cards also know that they drive a (unnecessarily) hard bargain -- and that reflects on him and detracts.

There is the subtle vibe that he / the Cards believe they are doing you the favor by letting you do business with an NFL franchise-- even when you are the one writing checks to them.

I also know that the team culture has a very old school feel -- they are probably the only place in the Valley that requires men to wear a tie in the office most days. I suspect the part about how women dress is maybe related to this?

Agreed. And not just for team success, but for every person Michael has treated like crap, whether it was because they were female or just because he’s a complete and utter garbage human.

Yeah??
Deniro did "Bad Grandpa"

His previous body of work doesn't make that any less of a piss poor movie.

Want credit for previous work?
The sentence structure was very well done.

So...just because a person inherited means they are undeserving?

Curious.
