I've referenced the Petros & Money radio show before and on yesterday's show, they were talking to a guest about Leinart and it was brought up that Leinart did not get off to a good start with Whisenhunt. Said that when Whisenhunt got the job as head coach he "went up to Leinart's limousine to introduce himself and got the window rolled up on him".

I'm embarrassed to say that I don't know if they were speaking metaphorically or literally. Can anyone else shed some light on this?

The second thing that popped into my head was Derek Anderson's career path. I'm sure it's more coincidence than anything else but look at the team's he's been on, the QB situations/controversies and where the coaching staffs ended up shortly after his departures. Devil in disguise?

Heard Petros talk about this a couple times... it was literal.

I HIGHLY doubt that is a true story. Just because Petros said it happened doesn't mean it did.

I really don't think Matt is THAT stupid, and if he were he would have been gone a long, long time ago.

Petros is VERY well connected to USC, he played there, his dad played there, their restaurant actually was one of the violations USC football got cited for because they were declared boosters and USC was still taking recruits to eat there(often apparently for free).

So if he says that happened, it probably did, he's too well connected to be making up stories if he did, lots of USC folks would call him on it.

I agree with all that you've said but you have to add to that, Petros also doesn't like Leinart and has been taking great pleasure in celebrating any/all of Leinart's struggles.

The story may be true but I can't simply give Petros the benefit of doubt on a story about Leinart.

I don't think he's a huge Matt fan no, but I don't think he'd make up a story like that.

To me it's simple, if you want to rip Matt there are plenty of legit things to rip him about, his partying habits, child out of wedlock etc, you don't have to make up something to rip him if you're Petros. So I'm inclined to think that probably happened.

I've always found Petros' situation with Matt to be ironic, he seems to think Matt is a spoiled brat born with a silver spoon in his mouth, which is exactly what lots of USC fans think about Petros.

I think the story was Whisenhunt went up to the limo during Super Bowl week and Leinart didn't know who he was so he did what he did.

At least, I think that story is vaguely familiar.

Amazing how much different a story looks when you are presented with the details. If what you say is true I don't think that is all that bad, though Whiz probably didn't appreciate it, but I'm sure there are lots of players who would "roll up the window" if some stranger was approaching them in the limo.

It's a good day for understatements. I have no idea if that story is true but Petros has to clean off the front of his pants every time he gets a chance to rip Leinart.

that's great and all, but how in the world do you as a player and "franchise QB" not know what your new coach looks like?

If he did that, if, then Whiz should of gotten rid of him years ago.

It's still a funny story, I halfway believe it happened and probably did alter things a bit, just funny.

I've said for a long long time Whiz dosen't like him, I'd think this would be confirmatory of that as to the reasons where it might have all started.

Really? A guy who hasn't been in the spotlight who you've never met before gets hired and you are automatically supposed to have a picture of him? If this happened during the SB week as was said, Whiz hadn't really been on the team for long, and it's not like he had been in the media spotlight in the past, like say Dennis Green had when he came here. What do you think we hired Whiz and the Steelers players just started texting pictures of him? Did you expect Matt to go rewatch Steelers games to see Whiz on the sideline just so he'd know what he looked like? That's absurd.

I don't know why you'd expect someone to know what another person looks like before meeting them. That just makes no sense.

He should have known everything he could about the coach who would be responsible for his future career. He should have known him by sight, at the VERY least.

Gotta go with the cheese on this one bro. When your team and organization hires a new head coach. It would make logical sense to make sure you know who the guy is. Especially that you are considered to be the future of the franchise and possible #1 QB going into the coming season.

Two words: Medical Marijuana.

Funny you should say that. What if Matt was wasted or had a beer bong and some 17 year olds in there and saw Wiz coming and thought "crap I cant have this as a first impression. Oh I know I will just roll up the window and pretend I didn't see him!"

Hey it's not Matt's fault, he showed up in the limo to greet the new coach, Mike Sherman, only to find out that Pro Football Talk was wrong.

It was 20 freaking days since he was hired tlll the SB. I bet you 90% of ASFN could have told who he was and were just a fan.

I agree just poking fun at the infamous Cards hire Mike Sherman story from PFT.

I'm with you on this one, if he didn't know he's a complete knucklehead.

Just for the fun of it, let's flip the scenario. If it had been 20 days since his hire, why was Whisenhunt choosing that particular moment to introduce himself?

I'm guessing he was told by management who the starter was going to be and I'm sure he was happy with anything he was told at that point since Pittsburgh didn't want him as HC and I'm guessing Tomlin wanted his own guys. If I was the head coach, my choice or not, I would make it more of a priority to see who my QB was going to be.

First time he saw him I'm guessing and decided that he should walk over and say hi. Would make sense to me.

But does it make sense for a first time HC to wait 20 days to accidentally meet his QB?

I'm actually asking because I don't know what a reasonable amount of time should be. Considering that the NFL season never really ends and the youth of Leinart at that time and knowing a new system would be implemented, letting a month go by seems like a waste of time.
