Ty Lawson just screwed his draft guarantee

Supposedly the Denver Nuggets had given him a guarantee at #20 and that's why Lawson suddenly got "hurt" at the pre draft camp and shut down his workouts.

Well early this morning he was pulled over for having his car stereo up way too loud, cop smelled alcohol, and the 20 year old Lawson proceeded to fail a field sobriety test and got arrested for a DUI. And he had a suspended license to boot.

Would be ironic if the key to UNC winning a national title next year was their starting PG getting a DUI and having to pull out of the draft as a result?

Gotta figure if his license was already suspended he has something in his past record so this current one won't sit well with NBA people.

I'm not convinced that a DUI would be enough to make him pull from the draft. My read on it is that there are a lot of teams looking for PG's and he's the only guy after Augustine and Westbrook in the lottery who is seen as a clear first rounder. Chalmers is strictly a bubble guy and the rest seem to be career backup types.

Given this draft's lack of depth at the point guard position, Lawson has done everything in his ability to solidify his standing as the third pure point guard selected in this year's draft.

I think it's funny, that they say he's the 3rd best PG, when you have Rose, Mayo, Bayless, Augustin, Westbrook all ahead of him.

The draft has several "combo" guards who may or may not be true point guards such as Mayo, Bayless, and Westbrook. When you limit the list just to pure point guards, it's Mayo, Augustine, and Lawson.
