Better off silent
I'd take what Gambo says with a grain of salt. Until we get confirmation from someone that knows what they are talking about, I'll reserve the right to be skeptical.xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media

I had always assumed that Anderson could be bought out and THEN the buyout number could be stretched. Hmmm. It would be good to get clarification on this.I don't think he is. The contract itself was never change or amended. I'm guessing another contract was drawn up as an amendment or something that only discussed the payout, not how it affects the cap. I'm not sure the NBA or Union would go along with something like that, even if the player wanted it.
Which means we probably never will.I had always assumed that Anderson could be bought out and THEN the buyout number could be stretched. Hmmm. It would be good to get clarification on this.
Give me a break , Gambo has absolute ZERO clue about how the NBA salary cap actually works!!!xc_hide_links_from_guests_guests_error_hide_media
And that evens out the trade. Are you suggesting that we have to clearly win the trade for it be worth it? Us paying Ellington’s salary in no way effects the team beyond this year and we don’t particularly need the cap space this season.YES, but we needed to take on Ellington to do it! That's what I'm saying!
No, I'm saying in order for this trade to actually be a reality, we had to take on Ellington. That's it. What exactly are you arguing with me about? And that evens out the trade. It could be the Suns are thinking trade this summer and they need Tyler Johnson's salary to make it work.
This started with you speculating why the Suns had to take on Ellington to make the trade happen. I was simply trying to explain why it happened that way..No, I'm saying in order for this trade to actually be a reality, we had to take on Ellington. That's it. What exactly are you arguing with me about?
Seems to me that we are agreeing.
it would colst us LESSI had always assumed that Anderson could be bought out and THEN the buyout number could be stretched. Hmmm. It would be good to get clarification on this.
Just like Gambo says in his tweet. Of course, we could waive and stretch Johnson too. It would cost us a couple more million per year.

Yes, and... again, I think we're saying the same thing. This started with you speculating why the Suns had to take on Ellington to make the trade happen. I was simply trying to explain why it happened that way..
Looks like TJohnson is a decent defensive player. That is a help. He probably replaces Troy Daniels in our lineup. We can then trade Daniels and Bender plus the Bucks pick for Lonzo?
Oh boy. The Lakers are a huge mess right now. LeBron absolutely destroys the chemistry wherever he goes. I love it. BTW, that should take LeBron immediately out of the GOAT discussion. He is a great player but he is a horrible teammate.
If he can have an "Oubre-like" impact, I'd say it's pretty good. Ryan Anderson was NEVER going to provide that, even if he was a rotation player. He is a good defensive player. Very aggressive and scrappy too. Reminds me of a guard version of Holmes/ Jackson.
NOBODY does!! I just don't get why you keep spouting this narrative when literally NOBODY here fits it.
This trade really isn't a big deal guys, it's very meh. We get rid of someone who never sees the court for a bench player who will see the court in exchange for a few million that we all know Sarver wasn't going to spend anyway. We are not a team in a good position for free agancy next year anyway
Maybe I misread the tone of the first post I responded to? It seemed like you were upset with the idea of us taking on Ellington as well.Yes, and... again, I think we're saying the same thing.
Yes, that's MIAMI'S reason for the trade. I'm speculating on our reasons for the trade.
I have a few people on ignore, but it sounds like people are complaining that the Suns lose some cap space. Even if that's true... the same people were likely saying nobody would sign with the Suns anyway.
No, as you said, just speculating as to why we did it in the first place. On the surface, it might not make sense.Maybe I misread the tone of the first post I responded to? It seemed like you were upset with the idea of us taking on Ellington as well.
We flipped a player who is terrible for a solid player (who can play some point) with a similar salary. That is why we did it.
He is actually a guy who can play. He might end up starting for us. He is better than Melton, Okobo, Daniels, Crawford, and Bender. He is also better than JJ (excluding the last few games). He is a good defensive player. Very aggressive and scrappy too. Reminds me of a guard version of Holmes/ Jackson.
