Given a choice and equal money, I like Cousins.

If the Cardinals are looking for a QB to hold the fort down, then Taylor looks worthwhile.

Why do we want to have the fort held down? In order to get to the SB, we don’t want any more 8-8 seasons. 1-15 is really what this franchise needs if we ever want a true 10 year QBOTF.

I won't even go there. LOL

Totally been through this strategy on another forum. In football it is less important to tank.

So simply fork out $25 million+ just because? He's not the answer. He'll never be the answer for anyone.
So what happens when you get mad we don’t draft a QB on draft day? You basically just admitted there no true QBOTF in the draft, no?

Cbus, if you're comparing Taylor and Cousins, you have to include their RB's. Cousins probably has more yards because he has to pass more. Taylor has McCoy.

I think before we can even discuss QBs, the coaching situation has to be resolved. Who will be the long term coach of this team? That should definitely influence who settles in behind the center.

You're right. Cousins is the 2nd coming of Joe Montana. We should grossly overpay for him.
Well, I've already said I like Tyrod, but pretending that Cousins not winning is his fault is just absurd.

And Taylor has tons more rushing yardage. And he has a true #1 WR. Imagine if Cousins had the luxury of LeSean McCoy and Kelvin Benjamin.

I wouldn’t call Kelvin Benjamin a “luxury”.

Not his fault but he's not a 2nd level QB. He won't lose you games but he won't win you many either. He certainly is not worth the $25 million+ it's going to cost to being him in here. Cousins is the type of QB that if he's going to be on a championship team, he would need to be on a team with a great defense like the '85 Bears or '00 Ravens or '15 Broncos. He certainly isn't the type to carry a team on his back. I honestly look at Cousins as slightly better than John McCown.

Josh McCown*.

Are you really saying that a guy who has finished in the top ten in all relevant QB statistics for the past three years needs an all-time defense to win games? That is outright ridiculous. Do you even watch the Redskins play? I legitimately have no idea where you're sourcing your opinion from besides maybe the past few games he's played against the Cardinals.

Do you realize how ecstatic we'd be if the rookie QB we want to draft manages to be in the top ten in passing for three years?

I don't want to shill for Cousins in every single thread, but some of the perspectives people have on him are just baffling.

Name me one thing about Cousins' game that would warrant a $25+ million contract and one thing about his game that anyone would believe he is a championship caliber QB. Just one.

1. He is a top 10 statistical QB for the past three years. There's one.
2. Here's a video of one of the league's longest veterans (Vernon Davis) praising his leadership in a win just a few weeks ago against what is arguably our biggest rival, the team we play tomorrow.

http://www.redskins.com/videos/NFL-...e-Leader/dcc407bd-90a8-4040-80f0-1c557217abf4

I'm sorry, you're not championship caliber until you win one. Were you banging your shoe on a desk when the Saints signed Brees about how he's championship caliber? Joe Flacco won the big one, were you insistent about him? Insistent that Matt Hasselbeck, Rex Grossman, or Brad Johnson were going to take their teams to the Super Bowl?

My point is that there are a ton of extraneous factors around the team that makes them winners, or championship caliber. The biggest part being a surrounding cast.

Well, 22-23 mill is about the going rate for QB's these days. Throw in the fact that he's free agent and you're bidding against others, 25 mill is not out of line. I could see your point more if he was going to get $35mill/year. But I have zero problem with 25. Derek Carr made 25+ this year and that was after 1 decent year.

I just don't see it for him. He's not going to win you a championship. Stafford, if he were free, I can see but Cousins, no. JMHO

"arent planning to cut" and "fine with paying bonus"...combined with "if necessary"...means they want to trade him

Or that they might be speaking with him about a restructure.

Honestly, I don't think we'll end up with Tyrod Taylor here. The Bills are in a precarious spot at QB and aren't realistically in the position for some of the other free agent and draft options.

they have a few days after the league year starts before they have to make a solid decision on Taylor...they also have two first round picks this year.... they could make a deal for Foles then cut Taylor... but they obviously have to get a starter in place before they do anything with him.... I dont think that 2 firsts and 2 seconds crap is real about Foles...its just the iggles trying to set a market, but the current market wont bear that price... but the Bills can give up pick 21 and a 2nd next year pretty easily and probably get the deal done on the first day of the league year... it would be a cheaper option for them than trying to trade up in the draft to get a rook and they would still have a first rounder this year.

speculation obviously... but it would make sense for them

I'd probably break a rib laughing if the Bills moved on from Tyrod Taylor to give up a 1st and 2nd round pick for Nick Foles.

ya never know what those guys are gonna do... not a stretch to see why they might think Foles can do more for them than Taylor and they have extra picks to spend.

I wouldnt trade two picks for Nick... not even a first... but a third?? maybe... but perhaps not right now because I really want a rookie.
The Bills have problems that go beyond Taylor but for whatever reason he is taking the brunt of the blame.

That team has a ton of problems. McCoy is getting to the point where that RB cliff might happen soon, they don't have a ton of talent at the skill positions... they're a "we can barely back into the first round of the playoffs and then lose" team. I don't think Foles will elevate that game at all.

They just simply need more dynamic players, and it's hard to recruit up there, since they're missing important pieces and there's not really anything to do in Buffalo.

If they pick up Taylor's option, then yes they still want him for at least another year. Otherwise, it's moot. He's not going to redo his contract again.

Bills are being smart here. With a bird in hand, they can now play the draft with their trade capital
