If they can stay in the West and be ranked 1,2 or 3, I think they have a shot at getting to the Elite Eight and maybe the Final Four. They definitely would have the home court advantage playing in LA. Look what happened against Duke two years ago.

Exactly. Getting into the West bracket is crucial for this team.

Miller has notoriously struggled in January as a head coach. Now that it's February and most of the freshmen are finding their groove, we won't see as many close games as before.

Can't watch the game but it looks as if our play isn't any better than Walton's color commentary.

Not a pretty game by any means. Disturbing how often the team comes out flat to start games. Lyons and Hill struggled the whole first half but played better in the 2nd half. I really liked Chol's energy tonight and hopefully it will earn him some more minutes. And yes Bill Walton's color commentary is awful, horrific, unimaginitive, ridiculous, one of the worst of all time...

Took 30 minutes just to get the lead. Nick Johnson was ice cold. Fortunately, he doesn't have these abysmal performances very often. Fortunately, Chol (from what I've read) played with a ton of energy and had a respectable stat line. Still, I hope the Jarret injury isn't anything serious. He was walking in a boot.

One thing that continues to bother me about this team is perimeter defense. Seems as if opponents are able to shoot and make 3s at will. I know it's natural for inferior squads to take their chances from long range (especially early in games), but if we played tight defense on the arc, we would not see teams get early leads and we'd be able to take control of games from tip off.

Awful awful awful loss. Instead of blowing it in the first half, they do it in the second. 58% and 46% from 3. 17-2 run buried this team for good tonight.

True definition of a "bad loss." And now we move on to a hornet's nest to play a very pissed off CU team.

The only good thing about this loss is it might (MIGHT) cause us to get our heads on straight before the Colorado game.

I could not watch the game since Directv in Phoenix and Pac-12 network can't work out a deal.

The cats are not that good this year. Don't be misled by the rankings.

They will make the NCAAs but MAYBE win one. They won't win two. Out before sweet 16.

There are no really good teams this year - every single team has multiple flaws.

Heck, the team with probably the single most set of impressive wins (Illinois) is on the bubble at 17-8, despite wins over #1 Indiana, #6 Gonzaga, #10 Ohio State, #14 Butler and #18 Minnesota.

Hard to say that Arizona wont make it out of the Round of 32 with teams like Louisville and Kansas losing three in a row; along with the plethora of Top 5 teams being exposed by inferior competition. For 5 consecutive weeks, the #1 seed was beat. If this holds true (which I doubt it will), we will have nothing but 6 and 7 seeds in the Final Four. I truly think most of the elite teams, like Arizona, will find a way to turn it on in March. Is the Elite 8 a stretch? Perhaps. But I think this team is, at worst, a Sweet 16 team, especially if it earns a #1 or #2 seed.

Remember - this team has proven it can beat top-tier opponents such as Florida and Miami. IMO, it is way too early to say when this team will get bounced in the tourney. Let's see how it responds against a pissed off Colorado team on Thursday.

On paper, Arizona has what it takes to make a deep run in the tourney - Elite coaching, talent at all positions, size, depth, and senior leadership on the court.

Wow, I guess Cal, and now Colorado, didn't get the memo on Arizona's "elite coaching, talent at all positions, size, depth, and senior leadership on the court."

20 - 4 against a quality schedule. Maybe you should save your kick-em-when-they're-down cheap shot for a better target. There's no question that the Cats were a little overrated but still, 20 - 4 against a quality schedule. Who else in the Pac can make that statement.

I didn't see a second of either game(in the Philippines on vacation) but it just reinforces my take that the best coaches in the conference right now are in no order at Cal, Oregon and Colorado.

Miller is the best recruiter, Howland can certainly coach, but neither is very good at making adjustments in games. Cal beat UA by going zone, you knew UCLA wouldn't do that so todays blowout was inevitable almost. You knew Colorado was going to be fired up after the first game, Miller based on that postgame wasn't about to change anything he just seemed to imply they played harder and better than us.

Both guys seem to have the idea we have more talent so if we do what we're supposed to, we'll win no matter what you do.

For the most part it's working for miller, but he doesn't have all the other issues Howland has, he hasn't been at UA long enough to wear out his welcome like Ben has.

Have fun playing in another NIT as Cal and Colorado have surpassed ASU as teams trying to get in the NCAA tournament.

I'm, sorry, thought this was the U of A Board. Very overrated, that's all I am saying. I have said some good things over here when it is deserved. Right now, its not.

If you don't like ASU fans posting over here not real sure why y'all come over to the ASU board and spread your trash over there.

Gloat away if that's what makes you happy. I've never been that kind of fan but each to their own. Again, though, we're 20 - 4 against a quality schedule. Yeah, we're probably a little lucky to have 20 wins against that schedule but we don't have a bad loss and we're still a tourney lock. I thought we'd enter the NCAA tourney with 7 losses and a 4 or 5 seed and there's no reason to think we'll do worse than that.

I'm much more worried about our lack of improvement than your gloating. Losing to a hot California and a motivated Colorado isn't the end of the world. Not being able to execute or make an outside shot coupled with our lapses in guarding against the 3 point shot are very concerning especially since we've had 3 months to resolve these issues.

No one is gloating here. I'd like to see the Wildcats do well in the tournament. But the cockiness is a bit uncalled for.

We'll see if they can turn this into a positive turning point.

Sorry but your earlier post was clearly gloating. I'm not sure what cockiness you're talking about. It's hard not to be optimistic when you're 20 - 2 but I didn't see anyone pronouncing us the latest and greatest. We're definitely flawed and we've talked about those flaws all season but there is something to be said for a team that can turn it on and come through in big moments. Of course there's also something to be said for a team that can't shoot, lacks intensity on defense and has no real point guard.

By all means, post away! Just understand that when you post here with the intentions of comparing athletics, you're bringing a knife to a gun fight.

If you want to gloat, at least gloat about something for which you could upstage us. For example, quantity of ditzy broads and newly-discovered STDs.

Miller has announced that he plans on changing the starting lineup for the Utah game. After reading the Pascoe article below, I'm inclined to believe that Ashley will come off the bench, and either Jerrett or Chol will start. Chol has played well in a reduced role upon late, so I'd be inclined to give him a chance against a weak-ish Utes team to prove his worth and reward his efforts. Ashley has been making careless errors recently.

It's this sort of ******** that keeps ASU and UofA from being an elite rivalry. Real rivals never wish for even minimal success for the other team. Under any circumtances, but especially in the tournament or in a bowl.
