Cats go on the road and win against a good Aztec team in a hostile environment. Gordon is a superstar and I would love to see him in a Suns uniform. Btw, the refs were a joke in this game.

Well, if that was supposed to be a joke those refs need to work on their punch line. The final foul total won't look all that bad because they started fouling us intentionally but before that it was pretty lopsided. They are every bit as physical as we are despite the 2 to 1 ratio on calls until the close of the game. It looked like they were officiating it by the "new rules" against us but the old rules were in effect for SD State.

It was a combination of confusion of new rules v. old rules and just flat out abuse of the whistle. Refs were calling the most ticky-tack fouls I've ever seen. That foul beyond the arc by Bunnies was anything but.

I digress. This was a good early test against a good team on the road in a hostile environment with terrible officiating. It tested our depth, play calling, and mental toughness. I like how Bunnies responded by making some timely baskets to kill runs.

Ohh yeah...in case you didn't know, Aaron Gordon is pretty good at basketball.

Yeah, barring a season long injury I don't see any chance of Gordon staying another year.

Even then, I'm sure he'll pull a Nerlens Noel and/or has an insurance policy to protect from season or career long injuries.

Maybe but he doesn't have quite the rep that Noel had coming into college so it would be a tougher sell on his part. I guess it probably depends on when it occurs. If it happened next week, he's coming back for sure (IMO) but if he goes down in February after a great freshman season he'd almost surely be gone. Here's hoping he follows his Final Four MVP performance with the announcement he's going pro and that the whole team stays injury free.

The Johnson recruitment was largely made possible because of playing time. Gordon (99% gone), Ashley (70/30 gone), and Nick (80/20 gone) are all going to at minimum test the waters.

Nick is 50/50 from what I was told by my friend who works in the department. Obviously if he keeps up his numbers and the Cats go far in the tournament, those odds will go up but he needs to work on his outside shooting.

No matter what, Miller has built a program that is going to bring in 4 and 5 star recruits every year and I don't see it stopping for a long time.

There really is no test the waters anymore the workouts are largely held after you need to have returned to school.

I think Nick would be crazy to go but he probably will just to avoid the negative perception of being a 4 year guy. This next draft there's 5-6 kids who would have gone #1 overall last year, the draft is much better.

Nick is a very good college player but he's a tweener he's not a 1 or a 2 and he'll be a role player in the NBA no matter when he comes out. Staying another year he'll probably go higher and get a bigger first contract(next draft won't be as loaded) but there are lots of kids these days who think staying 4 years means you stink.

It's just not Gordon, this team has a lot of great players and they will only get better. TJ is exactly what this team needs and York will has shown he deserves more minutes. This is going to be a fun team to watch.

Yeah, Gordon is going to have a huge year for the Cats but if I were going to join just one fan club it would be RH-J's group. This guy is that rare combo of superstar and dirt worker. He's the kind of player that makes you want to rewind and re-watch every one of his big moments. And he had several of them last night. Gordon's smooth behind-the-head dunk was nice but Rondae's put back was even sweeter.

This team would have won the Natty the last couple years in college basketball but even this year in a stacked year for college hoops they have a great chance. They're that good. Experience, size, NBA talent, and depth everywhere.

Should be fun, even if I'm not expecting it to be all that close in reality.............

You never know I suppose, this is the definition of a trap game with Duke looming next Friday and DU kept it close vs UCLA plus more of a "home" game for you.

But yeah, Cats by double digits.

Drexel is pretty good but they have no size, way too small to match up with UA inside. When UCLA played them they had one big named Ruffin who's about 6'8" with a Baron Davis beard, looks to be about 40 years old, and is tough as nails inside. Another big was ok and that's it. Their guards are pretty good. Massenat had 20 against us but that included 8 points in 2 minutes with Bryce Alford on him before dad figured it out and went zone when Bryce was in.

They like to spread the court and dribble drive but that won't work with UA's shot blockers. They have some guys who can get hot from 3 but against UCLA they weren't hot 5-23.

As long as Miller doesn't have a son in there trying to guard someone UA should win fairly easily.

INteresting Winslow recruitment. He wound up at Duke but it sounds like the intrigue at the end was many people think UCLA actually was the runnerup not UA or Florida or A&M.

The UCLA staff was apparently convinced they were getting him until he notified them he signed with Duke. Great kid, hope he does well.

Would have liked to have him at UCLA or in the Pac 12 but I can see why he wanted to go to Duke great school and great recruiting class

I think much of the UCLA talk in the final days on Winslow's recruitment was marketing on UCLAs part. Put the word out that you're in the mix, get on Twitter and some blogs, and make the country think you're more relevant than you actually are.

I don't know, Zagsblog, Goodman, several other sites were reporting it was Duke or UCLA yesterday. This morning UCLA sites were reporting it could be UCLA.

I kind of doubt you can be totally out of a recruitment and just fool the national media into reporting you are one of the 2 finalists for a top 10 recruit.

Clearly UCLA's staff was wrong they were getting the kid, but then nobody gave them a prayer at getting Looney and they got him. Or did they use marketing to convince him to commit?

Even Premium UA boards were reporting in the last 2 days it was very possible he was picking UCLA.

Seems like a great kid can't fault him at all but I find it a bit silly to suggest that UCLA wasn't actually a factor they just used marketing to convince people they were.
