Rock The Casbah
Clash
Combat Rock

Now the king told the boogie men
You have to let that raga drop
The oil down the desert way
Has been shakin' to the top
The shiek he drove his Cadillac
He went a' cruisnin' down the ville
The muezzin was a' standing
On the radiator grille

CHORUS
The shareef don't like it
Rockin' the Casbah
Rockin' the Casbah
The shareef don't like it
Rockin' the Casbah
Rock the Casbah

By order of the prophet
We ban that boogie sound
Degenerate the faithful
With that craazy Casbah sound
But the Bedouin they brought out
The electric camel drum
The local guitar picker
Got his guitar picking thumb
As soon as the shareef
Had cleared the square
They began to wail

CHORUS

Now over at the temple
Oh! They really pack 'em in
The in crowd say it's cool
To dig this chanting thing
But as the wind changed direction
The temple band took five
The crowd caught a wiff
Of that crazy Casbahjive

CHORUS

The king called up his jet fighters
He said you better eaarn your pay
Drop your bombs between the minarets
Down the Casbah way

As soon as the shareef was
Chauffeured outta there
The jet pilots tuned to
The cockpit radio blare

As soon as the shareef was
Outta their hair
The jet pilots wailed

CHORUS

He thinks it's not kosher
Fundamentally he can't take it.
You know he really hates it.

Classic!

For some odd reason I've always felt those 3 lines were overly hysterical (especially on how the hilarious video figures into it)....

Another song from "Combat Rock" that had some solid lyrics was:

Straight to Hell
(The Clash)

If you can play on the fiddle
How's about a British jig and reel?
Speaking King's English in quotation
As railhead towns feel the steel mills rust water froze
In the generation
Clear as winter ice
This is your paradise

There ain't no need for ya
Go straight to hell boys

Y'wanna join in a chorus
Of the Amerasian blues?
When it's Christmas out in Ho Chi Minh City
Kiddie say papa papa papa papa-san take me home
See me got photo photo
Photograph of you
Mamma Mamma Mamma-san
Of you and Mamma Mamma Mamma-san
Lemme tell ya 'bout your blood bamboo kid.
It ain't Coca-Cola it's rice.

Straight to hell
Oh Papa-san
Please take me home
Oh Papa-san
Everybody they wanna go home
So Mamma-san says

You wanna play mind-crazed banjo
On the druggy-drag ragtime U.S.A.?
In Parkland International
Hah! Junkiedom U.S.A.
Where procaine proves the purest rock man groove
and rat poison
The volatile Molatov says-

PSSST...
HEY CHICO WE GOT A MESSAGE FOR YA...
VAMOS VAMOS MUCHACHO
FROM ALPHABET CITY ALL THE WAY A TO Z, DEAD, HEAD

Go straight to hell

Can you really cough it up loud and strong
The immigrants
They wanna sing all night long
It could be anywhere
Most likely could be any frontier
Any hemisphere
No man's land and there ain't no asylum here
King Solomon he never lived round here

Go straight to hell boys

:

That seems to be the case with a lot of people much like with Van Halen, you have your group of Ozzy is the only real Sabbath, and Dio is, and then a smaller group who love both versions. I've yet to meet anybody who liked Sabbath after Dio left.

In my case I was I think a soph in HS during the Mob Rules tour which was my one and only time seeing them in concert. So while I'd heard Sabbath before I really got into them during Dio's time with Heaven and Hell and Mob rules. I liked Dio's first 2 solo albums but he was always a bit too caught up in the whole pretend you worship the Devil thing.

With Van Halen I loved them with David Lee Roth, really didn't like them with Sammy, yet I MUCH prefer Sammy's solo work to David Lee Roth's solo work so go figure.

I'll say right off that I think Tool's Aenima is a work of genius and one of the best albums ever, right up there with the Sgt, Pepper's, Dark Side of the Moon's, and Pet Sounds' of the world. Stop laughing. There are so many lyrically great songs on that album that I could post, but I'm picking what I think is the best by a slight margin. For anyone that cares, I think "46-n-2" is the best song overall on that album. I'll post these lyrics in a way that I feel best goes along with the rythm of how their sung.
H.
What's coming through is alive
What's holding up is a mirror
What's singing songs is a snake
Looking to turn my piss to wine
They're both totally void of hate (and)
Killing me just the same

The snake behind me hisses, what my damage could have been
My blood before me begs me, open up my heart again
And I feel this coming over like a storm again
Considerately

Ven
Uh
Mous
Voice
Tempts
Me
Drains me
Bleeds me
Leaves me
Cracked
And
Empty
Drags
Me
Down like
Some
Sweet
G-ravity

The snake behind me hisses, what my damage could have been
My blood before me begs me, open up my heart again
And I feel this coming over like a storm again
And I feel this coming over like a storm again

I am too
Connected to
Slip away
Fade away
Days away I
Still feel you
Touching me
Changing me (and)

Considerately killing me

Without the skin
Here
Beneath the storm
Under these tears
Now
The walls came down

And as the snake is trapped
There's a look in his eyes
My fear begins to fade
Recalling all of the times
I could have cried, then
I should have cried, then

And as the walls come down
There's a look in your eyes
My fear begins to fade
Recounting all of the times
I have died
And will die
It's alright
I don't mind
I don't mind
I don't mind

I am too
Connected to
Slip away
Fade away
Days away I
Still feel you
Touching me
Changing me (and)

Considerately killing me

Queens of the Stone Age
Burn the Witch

Holding hands
Skipping like a stone
On our way
To see what we have done
The first to speak
Is the first to lie
The children cross
Their hearts & hope to die

Bite your tongue
Swear to keep your mouth shut

Ask yourself
Will i burn in Hell?
Then write it down
& cast it in the well
There they are
The mob it cries for blood
To twist the tale
Into fire wood
Fan the flames
With a little lie
Then turn your cheek
Until the fire dies
The skin it peels
Like the truth, away
What it was
I will never say...

Bite your tongue, swear to keep
Keep your mouth shut
Make up something
Make up something good...
Holding hands
Skipping like a stone
Burn the witch
Burn to ash & bone

Bold As Love by Jimi Hendrix

Anger!
He smiles towering in shiny metallic Purple armor
Queen Jealousy Envy waits behind him
Her fiery Green gown sneers at the grassy ground
Blue are the life-giving waters taken for granted
They quietly understand
Once-happy Turquoise armies lay off but they're ready
And wonder why the fight is on

But they're all bold as love
They're all bold as love
They're all bold as love
Just ask the axis

My Red is so confident he flashes trophies of war
And ribbons of euphoria
Orange is young and full of daring
But very unsteady for the first go-round
My Yellow in this case is not so mellow
In fact I'm trying to say, he's frightened like me
And all these emotions of mine keep holding me
From giving my life to a rainbow like you

But I'm bold, bold as love
I'm bold, bold as love
I'm bold as love
Just ask the axis (he knows everything)

I guess along with that "group" you mentioned I've always viewed Sabbath more of Ozzy's band which is why I never entirely got itno the Dio era material... Perhaps it's somewhat "narrow-minded" of me.....

In terms of Van Halen...I guess I'm in the minority that I love both David's and Sam's material equally (but it's usually based on the mood I'm in)... Although.. I'm less inclined to listen to anything after "OU812"... I guess for me (like perhaps many) know it's Eddie's band.... However.. "Van Halen 3" was the worst, but that's an entirely different subject all together.....

Okay... I'll add some lyrics to this post.. one of my all-time VH favorites:

"Ice Cream Man"

(Dedicate one to the ladies...)
Now summertime's here babe, need somethin' to keep you cool
Ah now summertime's here babe, need somethin' to keep you cool
Better look out now though, Dave's got somethin' for you
Tell ya what it is
I'm your ice cream man, stop me when I'm passin' by
Oh my my, I'm your ice cream man, stop me when I'm passin' by
See now all my flavors are guaranteed to satisfy
Hold on a second baby
I got good lemonade, ah, dixie cups
All flavors and push ups too
I'm your ice cream man, baby, stop me when I'm passin' by
See now all my flavors are guaranteed to satisfy
Hold on, one more
Well, I'm usually passin' by just about eleven o'clock

h huh, I never stop, I'm usually passin' by, just around eleven o'clock
And if you let me cool you one time, you'll be my regular stop
All right boys
I got good lemonade, ah, dixie cups

I'll flavors and push ups too
I'm your ice cream man, stop me when I'm passin' by
See now all my flavors are guaranteed to satisfy
Yes I'm your ice cream man, stop me when I'm passin' by
I'm your ice cream man, stop me when I'm passin' by
They say all my flavors are guaranteed to satisfy
Ah, one time
I'm your ice cream man, stop me when I'm passin' by
I'm your ice cream man, stop me when I'm passin' by
They say all my flavors are guaranteed to satisfy
One time, boys
I'm your ice cream man
I'm your ice cream man
B-b-b-b-b-b-b-baby
Ah my, my, my
All my flavors are guaranteed to satis-uh-fy

I've loved this song since it first was released a cpl of years ago, but never bothered to check the lyrics out until now.. all I can say is wow... I even enjoy this song more than I ever did..and that's quite a lot....

-Richard Ashcroft-
"Check The Meaning"

Check The Meaning
(Check the meaning)

When I'm low, and I'm weak, and I'm lost
I don't know who I can trust
Paranoia, the destroyer, comes knocking on my door
You know the pain drifts to days, turns to nights
But it slowly will subside
And when it does, I take a step, I take a breath
And wonder what I'll find

Can you hear what I'm saying?
Got my mind meditating on love, love
Feel what I'm saying
Got my mind meditating on love, love

(The human condition, the human condition)

Too much blood, too much hate, turn off the set
There's got to be something more
When Mohammed, Allah, Buddah, Jesus Christ
Are knocking down my door
I'm agnostic getting God, but man
She takes a female form
There's no time, no space, no law
We're out here on our own

Can you hear what I'm saying?
Got my mind meditating on love, love
Feel what I'm saying
Got my mind meditating on love, love

Check the meaning
(The human condition)
Check the feeling
(The human condition)

Guess it's life, doing it's thing
Making you cry, making you think
Yeah life, dealing it's hand
Making you cry and you don't understand
Life, doing it's thing
Making you cry now, making you think of
Pain, doing it's thing
Making you cry yeah, making you sing

Don't say it, don't say it's too late
Don't, don't say it's too late (It's never too late, it's never too late)
Don't, don't say it's too late (It's never too late)
Don't, don't say it's too late

The human condition, the big decisions
The human condition, the big decisions

I'm like a fish with legs, I fell from the tree
I made a rocket (check the meaning), I made a wheel
I made a rocket (check the feeling), I swam the ocean (check the meaning)
I saw the moon (say a prayer), I seen the universe (and beyond)
I see you (check the feeling), I see me (check the meaning)
That's my reality
And while the city sleeps we go walking

It's a beautiful world
And when the city sleeps we go walking
We find a hole in the sky and then we start talking
And then we say 'Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ, Jesus Christ
Buy us some time, buy us some time'
Hear what I'm saying
Can you hear what I'm saying?
Can you hear what I'm saying?
Can you hear what I'm saying?

It's gonna be alright

Johnny Cash: Boy Named Sue

My daddy left home when I was three
And he didn't leave much to ma and me
Just this old guitar and an empty bottle of booze.
Now, I don't blame him cause he run and hid
But the meanest thing that he ever did
Was before he left, he went and named me "Sue."

Well, he must o' thought that is quite a joke
And it got a lot of laughs from a' lots of folk,
It seems I had to fight my whole life through.
Some gal would giggle and I'd get red
And some guy'd laugh and I'd bust his head,
I tell ya, life ain't easy for a boy named "Sue."

Well, I grew up quick and I grew up mean,
My fist got hard and my wits got keen,
I'd roam from town to town to hide my shame.
But I made a vow to the moon and stars
That I'd search the honky-tonks and bars
And kill that man who gave me that awful name.

Well, it was Gatlinburg in mid-July
And I just hit town and my throat was dry,
I thought I'd stop and have myself a brew.
At an old saloon on a street of mud,
There at a table, dealing stud,
Sat the dirty, mangy dog that named me "Sue."

Well, I knew that snake was my own sweet dad
From a worn-out picture that my mother'd had,
And I knew that scar on his cheek and his evil eye.
He was big and bent and gray and old,
And I looked at him and my blood ran cold
And I said: "My name is 'Sue!' How do you do!
Now your gonna die!!"

Well, I hit him hard right between the eyes
And he went down, but to my surprise,
He come up with a knife and cut off a piece of my ear.
But I busted a chair right across his teeth
And we crashed through the wall and into the street
Kicking and a' gouging in the mud and the blood and the beer.

I tell ya, I've fought tougher men
But I really can't remember when,
He kicked like a mule and he bit like a crocodile.
I heard him laugh and then I heard him cuss,
He went for his gun and I pulled mine first,
He stood there lookin' at me and I saw him smile.

And he said: "Son, this world is rough
And if a man's gonna make it, he's gotta be tough
And I knew I wouldn't be there to help ya along.
So I give ya that name and I said goodbye
I knew you'd have to get tough or die
And it's the name that helped to make you strong."

He said: "Now you just fought one hell of a fight
And I know you hate me, and you got the right
To kill me now, and I wouldn't blame you if you do.
But ya ought to thank me, before I die,
For the gravel in ya guts and the spit in ya eye
Cause I'm the ************** that named you "Sue.'"

I got all choked up and I threw down my gun
And I called him my pa, and he called me his son,
And I came away with a different point of view.
And I think about him, now and then,
Every time I try and every time I win,
And if I ever have a son, I think I'm gonna name him
Bill or George! Anything but Sue! I still hate that name!

"Chinese Bombs"
-Blur-

He makes an inner arm block then kicks from behind

The lights, they go off but he can fight blind

Cause he got the touch and he will live long

He comes from Hong Kong where justice is done

Chinese bombs, millions jump

Chairman's junk, USA

Won't somebody, won't somebody

Sink the place

Got a call to go to Soho, the dragon said go

Let everyone know that you got the touch

You come from Hong Kong where justice is done

Where people are strong and you will live long

Chinese bombs, millions jump

Chairman's junk, USA

Bruce Lee come, save the day

Bruce Lee come, the Chinese way

"Pick a Fight" Goldfinger

I can’t be happy without you
You can’t be happy without me
Still you always wanna pick a fight now
You say it’s written in the stars
Some psychic read it in my cards
Still you always wanna pick a fight with me

You say that I’m the only one
The one you’re looking for
Try and keep a straight face when you laugh
You talk to me like I’m a saint
But all your friends just say
We have been so over for some time

And I know that you had the best intentions for me
I know that what you’re saying is goodbye

I can’t be happy without you
You can’t be happy without me
Still you always wanna pick a fight now
You say it’s written in the stars
Some psychic read it in my cards
Still you always wanna pick a fight with me

You say you changed your mind again
You don’t know how you feel
Give me some more time is what you say
You wanna use me like a toy
That you get bored with
Now you wanna store me far away

And I know that you had the best intentions for me
I know that what you’re saying is goodbye...goodbye

I can’t be happy without you
You can’t be happy without me
Still you always wanna pick a fight now
You say it’s written in the stars
Some psychic read it in my cards
Still you always wanna pick a fight with me

I can’t be happy without you
I can’t be happy without me
Still you always wanna pick a fight with me
I can’t be happy without you
I can’t be happy without me
Still you always wanna pick a fight with me

You always say what you don’t mean
You always say the things that hurt me
Why do you pick a fight with me?
You always say what you don’t mean
You always say the things that hurt me
Why do you pick a fight
Why do you pick a fight
You always pick a fight with me

"The New You" the Vandals

Now you say that you like me, but you don't "like" like me.
And you say that you love me but you're not "in" love with me
And we should just be friends
but friends shouldn't treat other friends like that you're not too friendly when you act like that.

Every time I call the old you, the new you answers the phone.
I would like to talk to old you , but the new you says you're not home

Whatever happened to that girl I knew,
she was just like you- but was way more into me.
Lately you've been acting strange, or going through a phase
Why's it gotta be like that?
The old you dug me, but the new you snubs me, and asks me to go away
but I ain't going away-

Every time I call the old you, the new you answers the phone.
I would like to talk to old you , but the new you says "you're not home"

I've been so patient and I'm giving you space
I haven't called all day, but you're still not coming around
You've made a big mistake- that's not a threat
no matter how it sounds

Things were going so great, but as of late
you haven't much to say

The old you loved me, but the new you snubs me, and asks me to go away
but I ain't going away-

Every time I call the old you, the new you answers the phone.
I would like to talk to old you , but the new you says you're not home

Well now you say that you like me, but you don't "like" like me.
And you say that you love me but you're not "in" love with me
And we should just be friends- but friends shouldn't treat other friends like that
you're not too friendly when you act like that. Should I smash your ****ing head
with a baseball bat? And dig around the brains and goo
for something that looks lie old you-

Every time I call the old you, the new you answers the phone.
I would like to talk to old you , but the new you says "you're not home"
you say that you like me, but you don't "like" like me....

"Fearless" - Pink Floyd
You say the hill's too steep to climb
Climb it.
You say you'd like to see me try
Climbing.

You pick the place and I'll choose the time
And I'll climb
That hill in my own way.
Just wait a while for the right day.
And as I rise above the tree lines and the clouds
I look down, hearing the sound of the things you've said today.

Fearlessly the idiot faced the crowd
Smiling.
Merciless the magistrate turns 'round
Frowning.

And who's the fool who wears the crown?
And go down,
in your own way
And every day is the right day
And as you rise above the fear-lines in his brow
You look down, hearing the sound of the faces in the crowd.

"Edie" - The Cult
Always said you were a youthquaker, edie
A stormy little world shaker
Oh, warhol’s darling queen, edie
An angel with a broken wing

The dogs lay at your feet, edie
Oh, we caressed your cheek
Ooh, stars wrapped in your hair
Ooh, life without a care
But your not there

Oh, caught up in an endless scene, edie
Yeah, paradise, a shattered dream
Oh, wired on the pills you took, edie
Your innocence dripped blood, sweet child

The dogs lay at your feet, edie
Oh, we caressed your cheek
Ooh, stars wrapped in your hair
Ooh, life without a care
Ciao baby

Shake it, boy

Oh, sweet little sugar talker
Paradise dream stealer
Oh, warhol’s little queen, edie
An angel with a broken wing, oh

The dogs lay at your feet, edie
Oh, we caressed your cheek, well
Stars wrapped in your hair
Ooh, life without a care
Yeah, yeah, yeah

Why did you kiss the world goodbye?
Ciao baby
Don’t you know paradise takes time?
Ciao, yeah
Why did you kiss the world goodbye?
Ciao baby
Don’t you know paradise takes time?
Ooh, ciao, yeah
Ciao baby, yeah
Ciao baby
Ciao baby, yeah
Ciao baby

Only Police song that was written and sung by someone else other than Sting..

"On Any Other Day"
-Police-
(Stewart Copeland)

You got it.
There's a house on my street
And it looks real neat
I'm the chap who lives in it

There's a tree on the sidewalk
There's a car by the door
I'll go for a drive in it

And when the wombat comes
He will find me gone
He'll look for a place to sit

My wife has burned the scrambled eggs
The dog just bit my leg
My teenage daughter ran away
My fine young son has turned out gay

Cut off my fingers in the
Door of my car
How could I do it?

My wife is proud to tell me
Of her love affairs
How could she do this to me?

My wife has burned the scrambled eggs
The dog just bit my leg
My teenage daughter ran away
My fine young son has turned out gay
And it would be O.K. on any other day
And it would be O.K. on any other day

Throw down the morning papers
And spill my tea
I don't know what's wrong with me

The cups and plates are in a
Conspiracy
I'm covered in misery

My wife has burned the scrambled eggs
The dog just bit my leg
My teenage daughter ran away
My fine young son has turned out gay
And it would be O.K. on any other day
And it would be O.K. on any other day

And it would be O.K. on any other day
(repeat to fade)

I've been in such a reflective mood regarding the somewhat sordid state of today's music industry (especially Rock-N-Roll) and this song immediately came to mind... How apt Pete Townshend was with these lyrics over 30-years ago and it applies now more than ever...What foresight he had:

"Long Live Rock"
-The Who-

Down at the Astoria the scene was changing
Bingo and rock were pushing out x-rating
We were the first band to vomit at the bar
And find the distance to the stage too far
Meanwhile it's getting late at ten o'-clock
Rock is dead they say
Long live rock

Long live rock! I need it every night
Long live rock! Come on and join the line
Long live rock! Be it dead or alive

People walk in sideways pretending that they're leaving
We put on our makeup and work out all the lead-ins
Jack is in the alley selling tickets made in Hong Kong
Promoter's in the pay box wondering where the band's gone
Back in the pub the governor stops the clock
Rock is dead they say
Long live rock

Long live rock! I need it every night
Long live rock! Come on and join the line
Long live rock! Be it dead or alive

Landslide, rocks are falling, falling down upon our very heads
We tried but you were yawning. Look again
Rock is dead
Rock is dead
Rock is dead

The place is really jumping to the high watt amps
'Til a twenty inch cymbal fell and cut the lamps
In the blackout they danced right into the aisle
And as the doors fly open even the promoter smiles
Someone takes his pants off and the rafters knock
Rock is dead they say
Long live rock

Long live rock! I need it every night
Long live rock! Come on and join the line
Long live rock! Be it dead or alive

Well.. I figured that it will be only fitting to post the lyrics of the following song since tomorrow is the 4th of July....

"4th of July"
-Soundgarden-

Shower in the dark day
Clean sparks diving down
Cool in the waterway
Where the baptized drown
Naked in the cold sun
Breathing life like fire
Thought I was the only one
But that was just a lie

Cause I heard it in the wind
And I saw it in the sky
And I thought it was the end
And I thought it was the 4th of July

Pale in the flare light
The scared light cracks & disappears
And leads the scorched ones here
And everywhere no one cares
The fire is spreading
And no one wants to speak about it
Down in the hole
Jesus tries to crack a smile
Beneath another shovel load

And I heard it in the wind
And I saw it in the sky
And I thought it was the end
And I thought it was the 4th of July

Now I'm in control
Now I'm in the fall out
Once asleep but now I stand
And I still remember
Your sweet everything
Light a Roman candle
And hold it in your hand

Cause I heard it in the wind
And I saw it in the sky
And I thought it was the end
And I thought it was the 4th of July

Here's some songs by one of my absolute favorite bands. I almost forgot how much I love this album and have been listening to it almost nonstop the last few weeks.

STOCKYARD STOICS

"Long Goodbye"

So many songs in my head about looking back to the good old days
Instead of looking forward and giving thanks for the glory of today
When the lights go down and wake up the town
No one answers no one calls
It's alright by you
Been a long day through
Just waiting for the fall
Another door slams shut in your face
Another mistake I can't erase
I'll get mine and you'll get yours
In this beautiful ****ed up world of ours

When it comes when it comes
Have eyes but cannot see the light
When it comes when it comes it's alright

More stars in the sky then the eye can see
And when the lights hits they'll no longer be
Over dreamed and unredeemed
Forever yeah eternity
A last and final reckoning
An answer to all questioning
In liberty I'd like to see
The shape of all finality

When it comes when it comes
Have eyes but cannot see the light
When it comes when it comes it's alright

When all's said and done and the nightime comes I'll be glad to see it go
The losing runs and the modern huns and the evil we have known
A fuse will burn and the tide will turn and the ships sail home from sea
When the lights go down and wake up the town
No one answers no one calls
And I don't mind cause it's all behind
Just watching for the fall
In rigid grid a life to live
But what I wouldn't give tonight
For one more glance and one more dance
And one more chance to get it right

When it comes when it comes
We'll raise our glasses high
When it comes when it comes
There'll be no long goodbye
When it comes when it comes
Have eyes and now can see the light
When it comes when it comes it's alright
STOCKYARD STOICS

"Days Go By"

I can't eat and I can't sleep
And I can't find no ****ing peace
Try this, try that, but nothing satisfies
I bide my time and watch the days go by
And the night times fly

Standing on the edge of nowhere
Waiting for the bomb to drop
Standing on the edge of something
Please please don't make it stop

Another day and another night
Some things wrong and some things right
The plot unfolds unwinds and complicates
No sleep no time no cash no space
Out of mind and out of place

Standing on the edge of nowhere
Waiting for the bomb to drop
Standing on the edge of something
Please please don't make it stop

I want it all
Right now
The stars and sky and all beneath the sun
That's right
And I know I'm not the only one that dreams and schemes
Of better things and better days to come
Yeah better days to come
I'm not the only one

Standing on the edge of nowhere
Waiting for the bomb to drop
Standing on the edge of something
Please please don't make it stop

I'll add 2 Blur songs that have been on my mind the for the past cpl days... Both from their 1999 release titled "13":

"Trailerpark"
-Blur-

Freestyle, 45

I'm a country boy

I've got no soul

don't sleep at night

The world's growing old

I lost my girl to the Rolling Stones

I lost my girl to the Rolling Stones

Yeah.. they repeat those lyrics throughout the 4 min 26 sec song, however, what makes the song so mesmerizing are Damon Albarn's keyboards and Coxon's solid guitar work and backing vocals as usual.... Along with how the song totally speeds up in the end

And then the next song is:

"Trimm Trabb"
-Blur-

I've got no style, I take my time

All those losers on the piss again

I dose, dose away

That's just the way it is (x2)

I've got Trimm Trabb

like the flashboys have

now I can't go back

let it flow, let it flow

I sleep alone, I sleep alone

That's just the way it is

just the way it is (4x),

That's just the way it is

I've got Trimm Trabb

like the flashboys have

And I can't go back

let it flow, let it flow

I sleep alone (4x)

(vocoder voice)

I've got no style

just take my time

All those losers on the piss again

I doze, doze away

(normal voice)

That's just the way it is

That's just the way it is

I've got Trimm Trabb

like the flashboys have

And I can't go back

let it flow, let it flow

I sleep alone, I sleep alone

I sleep alone, I sleep alone

AAAAHHHHH

He's got a one bedroom trailer, an' a brand new satellite dish
A warm beer an' a remote control in his two cleched fists
he sits in his chair thinkin' of all the things he's missed
Livin' on crank, home fries... an' ice cold beer
It's Saturday night - time to go hunt some queers
With his momma's .38 he blows away all his fears.

He's a Hayseed Timebomb, livin' in a turkey shoot
He's thumbin' in to town to sell his cowboy boots
He spent all his money on a one-eyed prostitute
He's headed in to town, ridin' on a derailed train
The devil's playin' skeeball deep inside his brain
People in this town will never forget his name.

"Hayseed Timebomb"

People might remember these lyrics because NIN did an exceptional remake of it on the "Crow" movie soundtrack, but I must say that I prefer the original version more:

"Dead Souls"
-Joy Division-

Someone take these dreams away,
That point me to another day,
A duel of personalities,
That stretch all true realities.

That keep calling me,
They keep calling me,
Keep on calling me,
They keep calling me.

Where figures from the past stand tall,
And mocking voices ring the halls.
Imperialistic house of prayer,
Conquistadors who took their share.

That keep calling me,
They keep calling me,
Keep on calling me,
They keep calling me...

These are the lyrics to a Big & Rich song that makes me think of the P&R board every time I hear it:

Big & Rich
Love Train
I see people gettin mad on CNN
Who's right... democrats or republicans
I don't care who's right or wrong
I know a way we can all get along

Let's take a ride
Let's take a ride on the love train
Unwind, we'll be chuga luggin all the way
Let's roll, like the stone playin all day hey
Let's take a ride
Let's take a ride on a love train

The whole color thing's never made sense to me
Who gives a hoot
If your red. yellow, purple or pink
We're all mixed up anyway
We might as well give each other a brake

And take a ride
Let's take a ride on the love train
Unwind, we'll be chuga luggin all the way
Let's roll, like the stone playin all day hey
Let's take a ride
Let's take a ride on a love train

So let's forget about the hatin
And the way the bulls are playin
Without Jordan on the team
And the high price of gasoline
And if your living in a bubble
Then I guess you got no troubles
But if your anything like me
Well then I bet you really need

To take a ride
Let's take a ride on the love train
Unwind, we'll be chuga luggin all the way
Let's roll, like the stone playin all day hey
Let's take a ride
Let's take a ride on a love train

The title track of the album that I've been listening to a lot of over the past year.... Just some of best imagery ever used in a song and the style inspired several of my other favorite bands since... One of the first concept albums ever released as well:

"The Village Green Preservation Society"
-the Kinks-

We are the village green preservation society
God save donald duck, vaudeville and variety
We are the desperate dan appreciation society
God save strawberry jam and all the different varieties
Preserving the old ways from being abused
Protecting the new ways for me and for you
What more can we do
We are the draught beer preservation society
God save mrs. mopp and good old mother riley
We are the custard pie appreciation consortium
God save the george cross and all those who were awarded them
We are the sherlock holmes english speaking vernacular
Help save fu manchu, moriarty and dracula
We are the office block persecution affinity
God save little shops, china cups and virginity
We are the skyscraper condemnation affiliate
God save tudor houses, antique tables and billiards
Preserving the old ways from being abused
Protecting the new ways for me and for you
What more can we do
God save the village green.

Millencolin "Nine to Five"

tumble out of bed and stumble to the kitchen
pour myself a cup of ambition
yawning stretching trying to come to life
jump in the shower the blood starts pumping
out on the streets the traffic starts jumping
folks like me on the job from nine to five

working nine to five
what a way to make a living
barely getting by
it`s all taking and no giving
they just use your mind
then they never give you credit
it`s enough to drive you crazy
and you love it

they let you dream just to watch them shatter
you`re just a step on the bossman`s ladder
but you got dreams he`ll never take away
in the same boat with a lot of your friends
waiting for the day your ship will come in
the tide`s gonna turn and it`s all gonna roll you away

working nine to five
what a way to make a living
barely getting by
it`s all taking and no giving
they just use your mind
then they never give you credit
it`s enough to drive you crazy
and you love it
