Boston is in dire need of a big man and will be making a move for one.

Phx sends
Gortat
Beasley
Frye

Bos Sends
Pierce
Fab Melo

Pierce gives the suns that pure scorer they need plus a big guy they can develop and boston gets their missing piece with Gortat. Salaries match up well.

There are talks in boston of courtney lee and avery bradley for Gortat as well. It was mentioned here in the boston area where I live that they would trade pierce for a big man and that boston loves gortat and they tried to get him when he was in orlando.

and why would Phoenix do that?

Pierce does nothing for us, he is a multi year contract too.

We would never take Lee and Bradley either. Lee is terrible and overpaid.

Bradley is a 6'2 shooting guard who had 20 good NBA games then was exposed in the playoffs when teams were able to watch tape of him and couldn't shoot 36%. And now he is comming of shoulder surgeries. His size alone makes him a long term role player and not a starter. Melo is a scrub at this point and long term project.

Bradley has amazing defense unfortuantely I get to watch every game being from up here thats how I know. The reason they let Ray go when Ray wanted to stay was because Doc told him he wanted bradley starting. The kid is a good player. Pierce can average 20 a game which is waht we need seeing as the suns have absolutely nobody who can take any kind of pressure shot or anyone they can give the ball to and ride for a 5-10 minute stretch.

We don't need Pierce. In fact, Pierce is definitely not a "viable" need. The guy is a good scorer, but what does that do for us? With the rest of this team, he would be an island in an ocean of suck. AND he's too old for a team at this stage of their rebuilding. Gortat is much younger and even he is probably too old for a team at this stage of their rebuilding.

Channing is dead weight.

It's "a" trade, just not a "viable" one.

Agreed, and for the same reasons you list.

What is Bradley's best case? He might be the next Raja Bell or Tony Allen.

You don't trade a starting center for the chance at that.

His size alone means that you have to project Bradley as a long term role player for your team.

And Paul Pierce can average 20? So what? That guy will be 36 before next season. Just the thought of acuiring him on a rebuilding team is ridiculous.

Channing is not really dead weight because he will either play or most likely his contract will be terminated and we will get an injury exemption so esentially Channing Frye is most likely an expiring contract.

Old timers,,,

I agree, Pierce is too old to help the SUNS,,,,and so are most of the others that the Celtics might favor moving, and use as pieces. Only Celtic young guy who impressed me was long arms, Jeff Green.

Gortat was many weaknesses, but better than what the Celtics can provide us.

Seriously, if you can't tell that a Gortat-for-Pierce trade idea, under the Celtics' and Suns' present circumstances, is absolutely absurd, then there's really nothing to discuss.
