Too early?
Too early?
What I don't understand from VY is just because you were booed in your home stadium you should just quit? Maybe he needs to call and talk to Mcnabb who has been booed since the day he was drafted and until now. Or talk to Eli who has been booed and massacre in New York media until he led them to a SB win.

you know I like your post. I can't say that I've seen someone else be more right about everything you just said. It's easy to bash young or any guy while he's down. and young has given no one any reason to believe that he will be a championship QB in the NFL so that makes things worse for his reputation. I'm not ready to throw the towell in on him yet though. This is a guy who people doubted at texas. In his first year all he did was come in and lead his team from behind countless times. He was dominated by Oklahoma when they brought guys into the box to stop him from running. Even in games that he won in his soph. season he was ridiculed by texas fans and others for being sloppy and not capable of being a championship QB. He came back strong with a rose bowl win and guaranteed to be back for a NT game. He made great improvements from his soph to junior year in being a true QB. but that was in college. he needs to get that confidence back. And the Texans sure dropped the ball picking Mario Williams over Young and Bush no?
All Williams is going to accomplish in 5-10 years is being regarded as the best DE and pass rusher in football, while Young is out of football and Bush is nothing more than a gimmick halfback. Hey, those damn Texans and that idiot Charlie Casserly had no idea what the hell they were doing.
With all cynicalness aside, I really hope whatever issues are plaguing Young are worked through. This is a guy who had ice in his veins in college and was such a talented quarterback, who seemed to step up to the plate when they needed him the most. Granted, I think those who said that he's so used to being the most talented player on the field, however now that he realizes he's not and has to work hard for it, he doesn't know how to handle it.
I'm not going to sit here and ******** you and tell you I knew Young was going to flop. I thought he was going to be a good NFL QB. I still think he has the chance to be, but he has to get his head in the game. At the QB position, the game is 90 percent mental, 10 percent physical.

I remember you having that stance. If he really is just not that bright...this probably is very frustrating for himI said back when VY was drafted that he would never be a good NFL quarterback. I based that on two things: 1) He is just plain old dumb. 2) He has a very low maturity level.
I saw a film on VY about his road to the NFL and it showed a clip on him when he was 8 (I think) and he got hit by a car. He was being interviewed in the hospital and I remember thinking "WTF, this kid sounds like he's two years old!" He really seemed to have the development of a toddler.
Fast forward: He doesn't have the I.Q. to grasp NFL offenses or defenses and it is confusing to him. It must be maddening to just not be able to understand.
Remember, the VY pick was the Titans owner's pick, not Jeff Fischer's or the GM's.

Is it as rare as my mind is making it out to be that runners that can pass a little just don't succeed very often? Passers who run a little is one thing but the other way around like Young and Vick(better runners than passers) seem doomed to failure. Who am I forgetting?
you know--
on one hand, its hard to feel sorry for a guy with millions in the bank.
That being said -- we all seem to assume that if a guy is physically mature enough for the NFL, he is automatically mentally and emotionally mature enough.
Vince probably could have used another year in college.

This tends to be true, I think. Going back, QBs like Fran Tarkenton, Bobby Douglas, David Woodley and some others, better runners than passers, lend proof to your point.
So too do Steve Young, Joe Montana, John Elway, Steve McNair, Rich Gannon, et al, good passers who could also run well.

I thought about Randall but decided he didn't fit because he wasn't a "better" runner than passer. At least not clearly so in my mind. If anything, he's the rare breed that's equally good in both areas. He's about the closest to that side of the argument though.Randall Cunningham for one.
Mrs. Young? Is that you?
