So basically this screws the Cards because in an offseason where they already are limited in the FA market they are now forced to bring in one more QB.
To me that is costing Warner a lot of reputation. He should have just signed a 1 year deal when he wanted to possibly retire.
Dont worry about being limited in the free agent market that will already be devoid of talent because of the RFA rules. These top 8 rules everyone is so afraid about just isnt that scary when you look at the details.
1. We can sign 1 guy at a first year salary of 4.5 (I have heard up to 5.5 actually from a few sources it depends on what the revenue was last year).
2. We can sign as many players to a first year salary of 3.5 (again I have heard as high as 4 mill)
3. We can sign as many cut or non tendered RFA or EFA's as we want to, no matter what the salary is
4. The whole let one go get one back rule.
If you look at those rules the all pretty much fit into our yearly free agent style over the last 3 years anyways. You can easily find really good backup QB for a first year salary of 4.5 mill or less.
