Did i say DG sucks? I don`t care for him as a coach but he is coaching the team i have rooted for for many years.
Why Warner? He injury prone and immobile. I would have rather go for a QB in the draft or at least bring in a younger QB ( Tim Couch, for example).couch has some mobility.
I wish Warner well and hope he can do what ALL of us hope he can and lead the Cards.
Oliver Ross is basically a older Clement with a attitude.Lateral move.
For the record i liked the Berry signing and thought Macklin did better than most expected.
I have not and probably will not agree with all the personel decisions DG makes for whatever reasons. If this pisses off some people too damn bad.Last i heard its still a free country and i don`t think DG walks on water. All coaches make choices that the are wrong in.Other coaches get hung out to dry for getting rid of players (Boston) while other get cheered for setting a example (Kendall).Different way of looking at things i guess.

TIM COUCH?! Man - you lost me right then and there... TIM COUCH?!

Did i say Couch was Fran Tarkenton?I said he has some mobility and he is younger .Whats so freaking difficult about that? He could probably be signed for a low offer.younger and cheaper couldn`t hurt.

No, I believe you think Green is, in your own words, an ass h*le.

Kurt Warner was the best FA QB avaliable. He has had sucess, is fimilar with our offence and not to mention the various examples of Green using different vet QB's to put up fantastic numbers.

Mobility is over-rated. Warner knows how to move in the pocket to avoid the rush. Something that McCown has not shown. The only guy who has come close to that (on our roster) is big John. Our line will also provide better protection than he recieved in NY which will reduce the fumbles and sacks.

We will find out about Ross in a matter of time. But he add's experince and aggression to the line. Clement has all the physical tools, but plays too high and gets worked up about as much as Al Gore. On effort and agression alone Ross is an upgrade.

Tim Couch? Really? That is who you want to bring in? I'm glad your not GM.

dude - Tim Couch is HORRENDOUS - and he can't even throw a football - what good does having somewhat ok mobility(only in comparison to Warner really) when you have NO ARM?

I almost missed it... You are in Kentucky...Tim Couch went to school at....wait wait I remember...Kentucky?

32 teams are not interested. Even at his best, he was no better than McCown, and McCown is younger and more mobile than Couch.

And you want to compare Couch to a two time NFL MVP? Kurt Warner will still be better than Couch when Warner is in a nursing home and Brenda is placing the ball in his hand and moving it forward.

I am not a U of Kentucky fan.I remember Couch having a decent arm.As for McCown being better we shall see.Blanket BS statement on your part.
Hell why not a Jesse Palmer or a Mike McMahon? I think its pretty farfetched to expect the 1999-2000 Warner version.Hope the Cards ddon`t end up with the 2003 version. My point is that it is a 4 million risk that i really hope works out although i doubt it will.

I skipped about 3 pages there. Whew.

It's simple. Clearly Denny Green values both McCown and Warner. Money doesn't lie. $4 mill for Kurt and $1.4 mill worth of middle tender to Josh which includes the right to match any offer.

Denny wants BOTH of these guys because he thinks EITHER or BOTH may have upside.

But Denny didn't tender McCown so high knowing we'd have Warner. Methinks Denny wanted to cut King, which we will, and had to make sure we HAD two QBs on the roster (Navarre and McCown). The only way to do so was the higher tender. Now that we DO have Warner, things could change fast for Mr. McCown.

Keep dreaming Stout. McCown will be ob this team come the season opener. Care to bet a 12 pack of Guiness on it?

No I wouldn't because I, unlike you, am no foolish enough to think I know what's going to happen. Did I say McCown was going to be cut? No. I said don't be surprised. With Green, anything is possible. Even I MYSELF would have thought Green was crazy not to tender McCown as he did considering what we'd have had if McCown had left. Now, with Warner under contract, the situation changes. Does that mean we dump McCown? Not necessarily. Does that mean we keep him? Not necessarily. What does it mean? NOBODY KNOWS.

But hey...keep dreaming that you're omniscient, man.

aww big words I love. Hey you keep mentioning him being cut and have said it in about 5 different posts that I have read. heck Warner is as likely to be cut IMO. As you say it is "GREEN"

I have said it so often only because people are reading too much into McCown's security. Many people think he's a shoe-in. I don't. Now, let's be realistic, Shane...Warner IS a shoe-in to make the roster. And I'd have to say that Warner most definitely is NOT NEARLY as likely to be cut as McCown. It is Green, yes Shane, but Green just signed the guy to likely come in and take McCown's job.

I agree. But on the other hand Warner could come in here an be the gun shy turnover machine that led the Rams to an 0-6 record before Bulger took over. If thats the case he could just as easily be cut. Unlikely but possible.

The Cards could easily add a 4th QB in the draft. If they think he has enough upside and enough of our other needs are met. ?There are some good ones in the 2nd and 3rd rounds from what I see that have more upside than Josh IMO. Andrew Walter being one.

Is it anybody else looking forward to a whole summer of McCown vs. Warner debates?

man will that be a colossal waste of time. Hopefully DG takes care of that for us by drafting a QB in the first couple rounds and taking the tender off McCown.:D

Honestly - the only person who's gonna have that debate is Clif, Crazy Canuck and whoever wants toi waste time. At this point there is no debate IMO - Warner is the starter - right or wrong.

I know I sound like a party pooper, but I still have reservations on this deal, only because I'm wondering which warner we'll get. I will say this though, beyond a shadow of a doubt he is an upgrade from Shaun King.

Yeah, but with the little amount of time he'll actually play in the preseason, we won't know that. So, he'd have to be cut during the season. And what are the chances either Warner or McCown will be cut during the season? Nil, I'd say.

I love this guy.
I think he is the real deal.
Its been a long time since we had a real quarterback.
Throughout the seasons we've only had rookies, hypes, freelancers, retreads and backups.

Josh, Jeff Blake, Jake, Kent Graham, Dave Krieg?

If Warner is a turnover machine, I'm positive he won't be as bad as Jake was when he was here.

Its a one year deal, if Warner does fail he'll be out of football next season. I'm sure his wife won't allow that to happen.

I think it is a good deal, the positives outweight the other options we have.
What other options do we have? Sign some other team's backup? Another rookie draft pick? Jeff George? Morgage the stadium and trade for another team's starter? If Bledsoe was still free it could have been an option.

"I MYSELF" is not "omniscient, man"... so count me out of this silly debate. :D

Haven't quite figured out the excitement over this signing. I don't like Warner as the starting QB for this team...and he will be come opening day.
