Would Warner have done better on our team than Josh last year? I don't know, I have trouble believeing he would have made it past week 3 with the "wonderful" blocking combination of Clement and Cameron Spikes. His main criticism is that he held on to the ball for too long and turned it over too often ... SOUND FAMILIAR?!

Yeah - it sounds like the Giants O-line that Kurt had QB'd solidly to a 5-2 record until the defensive wheels completely fell off. You Josh guys are making it sound like Kurt Warner played behind the 99 Rams O-line last year - you guys remember us sacking him like 4,000 times? Their O-line was WORSE than ours and he still produced better than Josh. It's not a stretch at all to think he would have done better than Josh -after all - he is a QB - whereas Josh is a good athlete playing QB.

Now that is certainly not his problem, or everyone would not criticize him for holding onto the ball for too long. Rather, he has seemed more hesitant to pull the trigger than he used to. How much of that was on the Giants WRs, and how much on Kurt? We're about to find out.

and how much of the reason was Kurt Warner being better was result of him having a pro bowl RB?

There are more questions than answers when it comes to Kurt (or any of our other QBs for that matter). I'd rather wait to find out than just assume

And who are those SAME PEOPLE saying if our rushing game and run defense was better we'd have been in the playoffs last year?

Yeah...thanks for makeing my point....Warner also had a better running game.

and JOsh was sooooooo productive when we had a rushing game? Like that first game of the saeason when Emmitt ran for 90 yards and Josh threw for like 150 and led us to a whopping 10 points? Or like that 90 yard performance against the Giants where Emmitt rushed for 127? O rlike that game against the Seahawks at home where we started the game nicely and then Josh was horrendous, throwing the Hags an INT. for a TD to give them the lead and the D had to get a safety and Emmitt rushed for another 100 yards? Yeah - pretty solid in all those games when we had a running game!

We also had better WRs than the Giants Rats - it evens out and besides, even when Josh did have a running game, he still sucked ass. Thanks for making my point.

This is all moot anyway - barring injury, luckily we'll never have to see Josh McCown ever again and we can all be happy when Denny raises another former great QB fromt he dead and into the playoffs!

Did I ever say ours or there's were great?! Both Olines were bad but he had something we didn't in NY ... a running game.

Keep telling yourself that he's back to his old pro bowl days and maybe it will happen.

But Josh also had a better oline and WR's. So we will call it even.

It has nothing to do with the team when the QB overthrows the intended receiver. Or when the QB doesn't not make the right read at the right time.

Playing QB in Arizona is not that hard right now. DG is bringing in a functioning OL and this will give the QB more time. All the QB has to do is get the ball near the hands of our WR's, and the rest will take care of itself.

I have seen Josh get plenty of time to throw the ball, and he does nothing with it.

Can Josh win this battle ? Yes, but as I said he will have to go super nova to do so. This ain't no Shaun King throwing the ball into the ground. Kurt Warner knows how to play this game, and Josh is in a world of hurt unless he has improved 300% or more from last year.

Peace

Super Nova???????????

see - this is where I have to just believe you are not very intelligent - first - are you now saying that I AM one of those people who was saying this because you are insane if you think that - and two - the above completely misrepresents my argument - I think Kurt is the starter because anyone with half a brain can look at the situation and DEDUCE that - it doesn't mean he's "the man" - all he has to be is warm flesh to be better than Josh.

Again - a sad day for you in ther short run, but you'll see how ******** you're being right now in the long run. Clif - you go to the Cards games at home - correct?

If it gets us to the playoffs then I am all for it. I would love to go to the playoffs with Warner....but then I would love to go to the playoffs with McCown to....I do agree we have better receivers but they were not healthy and on the field for several of the games you mention. Fitz battled his ankle all season and Q never was used right when he did hit the field. Just Win damn it!....That is all that I care about. But stay on your soapbox....you can ramble with the best of them.....oh and the Cards as a team sucked ass in alot of games....the blame for the ******* season last year is spread around quite generously....so don't just throw Josh under the bus....there are plenty that get the nod

None of this matters - Warner and any other mediocre QB could beat out Josh blindfolded so who cares.

Cheese, you were doin ok up until this statement.

Any mediocre QB could beat Josh blindfolded?

Yes, Warner one a superbowl. Yes, Warner had some outstanding years in STL. Yes, its a little intoxicating to think of him standing back behind Big and Ross and Co., and throwing laser beams to Fitz and Boldin.

However, this is the same guy that couldn't beat out Bulger. And Bulger isn't that great. Brees was able to keep Rivers on the bolt bench. But Warner couldn't keep sorry a** eli on the gints bench?

Warner is not a sure thing to beat out Josh. Trust me on that. YOU know DG. If warner stinks it up, even in the preseason, which is a distinct possibility, then Josh will be playing. Because Green knows that, at the very least, Josh gives him a chance for a w.

Any mediocre QB could beat Josh blindfolded? Thats ridiculous. He's not Joe Namath, and, if I'm a betting man, I would currently put money on Warner to start that first 05' game. But I would also put the odds at 50/50 that Josh starts at least one game in 05', by fair means or foul.

I'm not saying I'm against the signing or a QB competition. I want Ws, and if that means McCown gets clipboard time, so be it. I'm just saying don't get your hopes up too high on Warner. And don't get too down on Josh. Long way to Sept compadre.

You never said it but I'm reading between the lines (Kinda like everyone's sudden abilty to read Dennis Green's mind ... I can read yours) ;)

My point is simple ... Warner might be the answer and he might not be. I'm not going to claim him as anything until he proves it in a Cardinals uniform, if he does well so be it.

and I'm not giving up on a young QB that faced the problems of being on a bad offense. He might do something he might not. This next year is his last chance and if he doesn't prove anything ... he's gone.

Thats it. Yoou either prove your worth or you're gone that simple. That goes for evry QB and other position on our team.

Sad day for Josh guys - it's okay guys - in the long run, we'll look back on these days and laugh... at you. :D

or vice versa

been waiting for the personal attack all throughout this discussion. why is it everytime we have a discussion you end up insulting my intelligence? Is it possible for someone to have a different opinion than you? Could there be any room for us in your world MR cheese?

Come on dude obviously my illustration was for pure fun, but once again you feel the need to throw out an insult.

My point has always been that josh has a chance and open competition will either make or break him. You sir... can not handle that because you feel you always have to be right so make proclamations and then dare people to oppose them by questioning their mental capability.

Some interesting stats.

In Sunday’s 27-10 victory over Cleveland, Warner increased his career yardage total to 15,168. It was the 56th game of his career, tying Warner with Dan Marino for the fewest games needed to reach the 15,000-yard milestone.

Warner’s record as a regular-season starting quarterback in the NFL is 37-16, a winning percentage of .698. Only one quarterback who started his career since 1970 has a better record (minimum 50 games as a starter): Joe Montana was 117-47, a winning percentage of .713.

Warner raised his record as a regular season starter to 40-17 (.702).

Like it or not, you got to admit this guy is a true QB.

Thats ok Cheese...because most of us have been laughing at you for sometime because you can't find any of your Cards gear on game day :D It really is not a sad day at all. We needed a competent backup and either we got a starter today or we got a competent backup(unlike King). I like him alot better than Johnson or Garcia. And it will just grind on the Rams fans if Warner returns to form and He and our Defense carries us to the Division crown

I think very few people think it will be competitive, open or not. It's like saying Duke vs. Northeastern South Dakota State in the first round of the NCAAs is "open competition".

Watch it aj, you're hitting a little too close to home! :hulk:

ah - Rats - you sir are the voice of reason amongst the Josh supporters though and I applaud you whole heartedly for that! You my friend can see the forrest through the trees as opposed to Mr. Clif.

And Clif - sorry if I come out and question your intelligence - it's not a personal attack - I really AM questioning your football intelligence in regard to most of this stuff because I think it's absolutely ridiculous. And to think you didn't bring it on yourself with your playful jab at me is pretty inconceivable as well.

there's so much wrong with this post and I don't have the time to go into it so I'll simply just ask you if you still believe that noodle-armed weak-kneed never played a good game in a big game in his life QB from Oklahoma will still be drafted and make a good NFL QB Crimson? :D

Um, yeah ok Trying to change the subject? :D

I hate to do this, but would someone be kind enough to tell me how White did at the combine, or at least give a link to the combine results? Thank you,

This is a great signing. I'm very happy right now.

Man, wouldn't it be crazy if he lit it up here? Talk about poetic justice from the football gods.

Also, shouldn't we just give him #13 right now? I mean, no one else on our roster wears it.

All I got (From ESPN Insider & Scouts, Inc.) is that White checked in at 6'2 1/2", 223 lbs, 31.2" wingspan, 9.5" hands (Charlie Frye and Jared Allen tied for the smallest hands in the group, at 8.7"), and ran a 4.90 40.

Also, he didn't have the worst workout among the quarterbacks. That distinction lies with Ben Dougherty.
