If he interviews well, a completely reworked, close to minimum, make good contract, would be the way to go.

Hi Daryl.

Hi Mr. Keim.

Oh, that's my cell. Gotta take this. We'll be in touch.

(That went well).

Why not? The trade could be for a conditional pick, based on making the final 53 and playing time. Makes a roster, 7th round pick. Plays in 10+ games, converts to 6th rounder. Makes Pro Bowl, 3rd rounder. Etc.

My take? Depending on how far he's really come with his maturity, and how well he was able to convince team brass of that, I'd be willing to give him another chance. Yes, he's 30, but with 3 years off, has less wear on the tires than if he'd been playing, so he's effectively still in his 20's. And man did he have talent before being sat down.

Because he's a 30, about to be 31, year-old linebacker with four years left on his deal. His value is shot due to character issues and is one failed test from another year long suspension.

Man I see a lot of this "if he's 75% he's still a stud" talk . . . uh, no. If he's 75% of what he was he's likely now a dud. The differences between athletes at the professional level are minute. Remember we marvel at a guy running 0.1 seconds faster than another. You lose 25% of what you were you are not only no longer special at the NFL, you are likely not even NFL level at all.

And someone here said that weed was his only problem and floyds actions were much more reprehensible. Yes, Floyd could have hurt someone. Dwash DID hurt someone. Not downgrading what Floyd did. I agree he should be doing time. But dwash slapped around a woman. I believe it was choked her and something to effect of causing her to fall over a guard rail and break her arm. I'm not playing judge and jury because I don't know the whole facts, but to chalk it up to "just weed" is purposefully blinding yourself to a guy who may not be a good guy, and at a minimum is a serial bad decision maker.

You don't have to play judge and jury... because someone already did... a FREAKING Judge.

He's not a good guy. He hurt a woman and his own team. Now, if people still want him because he can ball (which is a MASSIVE question mark) that's fine, but at least be honest about who he is.

I agree with that.

I do think Dwash will be much more appealing in his response. Obviously he had to get clean and stay clean to get unsuspended, so hes obviously cares to some degree.

And I see a huge difference with the Floyd situation. 1st of all Floyds crime was abominable. He should be rotting in prison right now. DWashs crime was that he was undependable. Broke his word and messed up with weed again and hit a woman.

Secondly, Floyd is an idiot. He doesnt understand why DUI is bad. That alone makes him dangerously stupid.

FTFY...Can't forget that part of his suspension was due to domestic violence...not just the giggle stick.

In regards to time served, yes. But Im talking more about the perception that his crime is that he lied to us after promising to stay clean. Thats the source of peoples anger.

I'm disappointed that he couldn't stay clean.

I'm angry that he choked his ex-girlfriend (and mother of his daughter) before shoving her to the ground resulting in a broken collarbone.

I dont see this as DV at all. That was a push-shove argument. Ultimately just an ugly confrontation between 2 people. I put equal fault on them both.

Youre making it sounds like he smacked her around because the meatloaf was dry.

a 115 pound women versus a 6'4 245 pound man... there should never be a push-shove argument between the two.

And what part of CHOKING HER is pushing/shoving?

The DV incident was over three years ago. It was disappointing, obviously.

What we know is that Washington served his suspension for the DV incident and completed all of his anger management and DV classes. He hasn't had a reported incident since.

I'm curious, at what point are we allowed to not hang this over his head, or will people just chastise him for the rest of his life?

I agree with what both you and Bodha said. All of it makes me angry. Worst of all, despite doing despicable things and lying directly to the team and the fans, he has not gone out of his way to apologize to the fans...at least not in a way that makes one feel confident that he is genuinely sincere about making good with the team and the fans. At this point, I really don't have much faith that he will ever make good, unless we hear something more sincere, determined and apologetic.

The only thing that would satisfy me is if he redoes his deal and is willing to play for the minimum plus incentives. If he wants anything more that that, he's not truly apologetic.

They were having a heated argument, as couples do. She was the aggressor. If youve never seen a black woman go off, then go watch some youtube vids. His baby mama was 100% the aggressor, and thats not a situation where you can just cross your arms and wait it out.

bottom line HE DID NOT HIT HER.

That speaks volumes. That tells me he was trying not to hurt her. He was trying to restrain and contain her. And she got hurt because hes big and shes small, mostly by her own doing.

Bodha, I don't know what you do for a living but you should seriously consider becoming a lawyer and dealing exclusively with defending males who are involved in putting their hands on females. I don't know how many posts I read from you defending Mixon's behavior and now you have incredible insight and a strong opinion into Washington's altercation as well. Seriously though, quit Wal-Mart and consider law.

They are very very different in DWash never hit her. Mixon did.

However, whats the common factor in both these cases?

No excuse. None. Any decent man knows you don't lay a hand on a woman no matter how provoked you are. And in the case of professional athletes or anyone in the public eye, one is committing career suicide by allowing something like this to happen.

Even worse your line about this being a black woman is reprehensible.

He didnt hit her.

Logic says when one person is hitting (her) and the other isnt (him), then he is trying his best to avoid a DV situation.

Thats simple logic. Stop being emotional and use your brain.

You're still working at Wal-Mart and haven't contacted either Mixon nor Washington offering to represent them in court?

I waffled a bit and went back and forth between seeing if he could play or not. Ultimately, I keep coming back to they should just cut him. I don't care if he signs with the 49ers, Rams or whatever and is a Pro Bowl player. It's too late for contrition, sincere or not, that ship sailed long ago IMO. Cards should just say "Fool us once..." and show him the door.

If they don't and he's on the team next year, then I will still be a fan. I'm not drawing that big a line in the sand about it. The Cards have made plenty of bad decisions on bad dudes in the past. But, I sure won't be showing up anywhere with a Washington jersey on :)

ha, I assume youve never dated outside your race.

I actually think its more racist to think everybody is the same. White, black, asian, hispanic. All of them have the same personality?

No. Some are more fiery than others, I promise you that.

Literally not ONE word of this is corroborated by anything.

bottom line HE DID NOT HIT HER.

HE CHOKED HER AND PUSHED HER TO THE GROUND HARD ENOUGH TO BREAK HER COLLARBONE.

That speaks volumes. That tells me he was trying not to hurt her. He was trying to restrain and contain her. And she got hurt because hes big and shes small, mostly by her own doing.

lol... and now you're blaming the woman for getting beat up. Between that, your painting with a wide brush on all black women going off and your holocaust jokes on the Suns board, you're a real gem Bodha.
