If he interviews well, a completely reworked, close to minimum, make good contract, would be the way to go.
Why not? The trade could be for a conditional pick, based on making the final 53 and playing time. Makes a roster, 7th round pick. Plays in 10+ games, converts to 6th rounder. Makes Pro Bowl, 3rd rounder. Etc.
My take? Depending on how far he's really come with his maturity, and how well he was able to convince team brass of that, I'd be willing to give him another chance. Yes, he's 30, but with 3 years off, has less wear on the tires than if he'd been playing, so he's effectively still in his 20's. And man did he have talent before being sat down.
And someone here said that weed was his only problem and floyds actions were much more reprehensible. Yes, Floyd could have hurt someone. Dwash DID hurt someone. Not downgrading what Floyd did. I agree he should be doing time. But dwash slapped around a woman. I believe it was choked her and something to effect of causing her to fall over a guard rail and break her arm. I'm not playing judge and jury because I don't know the whole facts, but to chalk it up to "just weed" is purposefully blinding yourself to a guy who may not be a good guy, and at a minimum is a serial bad decision maker.
I agree with that.
I do think Dwash will be much more appealing in his response. Obviously he had to get clean and stay clean to get unsuspended, so hes obviously cares to some degree.
And I see a huge difference with the Floyd situation. 1st of all Floyds crime was abominable. He should be rotting in prison right now. DWashs crime was that he was undependable. Broke his word and messed up with weed again and hit a woman.
Secondly, Floyd is an idiot. He doesnt understand why DUI is bad. That alone makes him dangerously stupid.
FTFY...Can't forget that part of his suspension was due to domestic violence...not just the giggle stick.
In regards to time served, yes. But Im talking more about the perception that his crime is that he lied to us after promising to stay clean. That's the source of peoples anger.
I'm angry that he choked his ex-girlfriend (and mother of his daughter) before shoving her to the ground resulting in a broken collarbone.
I dont see this as DV at all. That was a push-shove argument. Ultimately just an ugly confrontation between 2 people. I put equal fault on them both.
Youre making it sounds like he smacked her around because the meatloaf was dry.
I'm disappointed that he couldn't stay clean.

a 115 pound women versus a 6'4 245 pound man... there should never be a push-shove argument between the two.
And what part of CHOKING HER is pushing/shoving?
They were having a heated argument, as couples do. She was the aggressor. If youve never seen a black woman go off, then go watch some youtube vids. His baby mama was 100% the aggressor, and thats not a situation where you can just cross your arms and wait it out.

Bodha, I don't know what you do for a living but you should seriously consider becoming a lawyer and dealing exclusively with defending males who are involved in putting their hands on females. I don't know how many posts I read from you defending Mixon's behavior and now you have incredible insight and a strong opinion into Washington's altercation as well. Seriously though, quit Wal-Mart and consider law.

bottom line HE DID NOT HIT HER.
That speaks volumes. That tells me he was trying not to hurt her. He was trying to restrain and contain her. And she got hurt because hes big and shes small, mostly by her own doing.
No excuse. None. Any decent man knows you don't lay a hand on a woman no matter how provoked you are. And in the case of professional athletes or anyone in the public eye, one is committing career suicide by allowing something like this to happen.
Even worse your line about this being a black woman is reprehensible.
They are very very different in DWash never hit her. Mixon did.
However, whats the common factor in both these cases?
