absolutely nothing? I'd say getting arrested means absolutely nothing.

A judge finding your ass guilty has to mean at least SOMETHING. Maybe not everything, but absolutely nothing? Come on.

You know what I'm talking about cheese. Don't play dumb. Just because he agreed to the plea deal means absolutely nothing. You should know this since your brother is a lawyer.

As I recall hearing the altercation, DW was holding his daughter in his arms at the time and the mother was aggressively trying to grab the baby out of his arms. He extended his arms to protect the child from being injured. Mother looses her balance and trips over a flower pot and breaks collarbone. HE DID NOT PUNCH HER. I wasn't there but he has served his suspension and completed his counseling so there's really no point in in trying to further discipline him. Goodell says he's Good, Let it Go! Josh Gordon has burned the Browns multiple times for weed. Yet He's still on the Browns Roster. Why?? Cleveland knows he's elite level talent, Just as DW was and hopefully still is.
How does the CHOKING, which isn't typically a defensive move unless one is applying a sleeper hold, keep getting ignored?!?

It would be futile to fight all the charges in this scenario. Taking a plea and scrubbing the felony from record was the best possible outcome regardless of money

It's only futile if some of the facts aren't in your favor. He's the celebrity athlete with money. They are the types that typically wriggle out of accountability, not cop pleas.

You guys are letting him troll you. His sole purpose on this board is to get a reaction & argue. No other explanation. He's moved to just about every forum just to troll & start an argument.
Argh you're right. I don't know why I allow the baiting. If I met him in person something tells me I wouldn't waste my time.

Not what happened at all - according to the police report.

https://www.documentcloud.org/documents/2512874-daryl-washington-police-report.html#p3

DWash went to her place and at one point disappeared with their daughter without permission.

He came back, they argued over what he had done and he choked her while still holding their daughter.

His ex was able to take their daughter and go back into her apartment, but Daryl pushed his way inside, took her cell phone, and went to leave.

She followed him out to retrieve her cell phone and he pushed her to the ground causing her injuries.

So many revisionists around here. SMH.

did that guy choke her and throw her to the ground breaking her collarbone?

The moment she decided to punch him, that's called assault and he has every right to defend himself including punching, choking, or throwing her to the ground to end it. Doesn't matter if it is a man or woman.

I don't believe that's what happened with DWash though. From what I recall, he took his daughter for ice cream unannounced, came back to the apartment and she flipped out on him. That's when he grabbed her neck... Mistake #1. Then she tried to call the cops, so he took her phone... Mistake #2. And when she reached into his car to take it back, he pushed her and she fell down breaking a collarbone... Mistake #3.

Clearly DWash made several bad choices and paid the price for said choices. Does that mean he should never be allowed to work again in his chosen profession??? I personally don't think so and the NFL seems to agree with me.

Honest question... Have any of you ever made a huge mistake / awful choice that was unforgivable or irredeemable?

So... he took the daughter without permission. The mom went after him to get her back... he CHOKED her, she threw a plastic plant AT HIS CAR, he got out then later pushed her down FROM BEHIND.

Yeah... sounds like both of them were really at fault here.

stop with the revisionist history. There's MEDICAL evidence and ADMISSION of guilt here. How people are still so resolute in defending this guy is beyond me.

What's with the human race and their need to be right? We have wars started by such self righteous bullsitt. I read all you posters daily and respect most. You do better stuff than this thread!

Now, I've lost sight of the initial read. What surprised myself was the comment about DWash length of suspension.

I had thought this was on DWAsh but it sounds like one year For the failed drug tests and two years for the second. I think it was mention in the linked article about this his suspension was long due to two violations. Makes sense he was never coming back for 3 years which would explain his getting back into shape this last year.

I'd love for you to find ONE time I said he shouldn't be allowed to ever play again. Hell, Id love for you to find me saying he shouldn't ever be a Cardinal again! I've never said either.

I just think people papering over what he did is sad.

Well if that's accurate a lot of you need to either retract your ridiculousness or just come forward and accept the fact that you're an abuse apologist. No two ways about it.

8 Pages and most of it is about idiot comments by a poster who everyone should have on ignore like I do. One of the positives of the new software for this sight is that when ignored posters idiotic comments are quoted they don't show up in the thread either. That's brilliant!!

Know how to use the IGNORE function and then utilize it.

I know I'm one of people most bothered by some of these posters, but I still want to hear their point. If I think they're wrong I tell em. Sometimes I lose track of how far down the rabbit hole I let them take me. Shame on me for that.

I get what you are saying and have done the same. I believe I'm getting better at identifying the trolls and pure idiots and have decided to stop wasting my time. My choice and I'm not saying I'm right but I will tell you I enjoy ASFN more with utilizing the ignore function.

I still have difficultly with this DWash situation because it reminds me of a very personal situation between family members where I feel like the woman was very much in the wrong in an emotional conflict, and had a history of literally yelling "I'm a girl, you can't hit me," and "they're going to believe me, not you," while attacking him both emotionally and physically.

The report reads so much like the situation I saw, that was so charged and hard to not blame the guy for not "just walking away."

A lot of wrong has been done by this player, but is the domestic dispute cut and dry? I don't know.
