I would argue a run is a much safer play than a kneel & punt (plus you run a few more seconds off the clock). What are the odds of risking a fumble trying to get a first down in that situation vs having the punt mis-snapped, blocked, returned for a TD, or enduring a 20 second miracle Tom Brady hail mary situation (40 yards to a field goal try). Just protect the damn ball!

I approve of this message. :)

Gutsy?

Are you kidding me?

After the effort he got from his football team, you are going to RISK a TOSS???---TOSSED FROM THE INSIDE NO LESS???---where if a LB shoots the A gap he can cause an easy fumble even before it's tossed (usually the QB is told to reverse pivot on the toss because then the QB can shield it with his body)---

Gutsy? On a 3rd and 13 yards, that has NO chance of getting a first down, to a RB who has NEVER been in THAT position in the NFL and WHO FUMBLED LAST WEEK---even worse you put your star WR, Fitz, to the side of the toss play, who commanded two defenders to his side, which again makes it virtually impossible to think you have any chance at all of making 13 yards.

I'm going on past experience of you saying how the Cards always play not to lose. If I'm wrong about that, I'll stand corrected.

Whether either of us agrees with the call or not, they were playing to win, imo

"Quit bitching about the best coach the Arizona Cardinals have ever had." I seriously wonder how this board, (some) have become so self-entitled. This is the best shape this organization has ever, ever, ever, ever, been in, yet people still whine.

NO THEY DIDN'T!

Lynch said that in the freaking booth because he was assuming. Beanie said he was not injured. CKW in his presser today said the only reason RW was in was it was his turn, not an injury thing. He splits their carries.

Good god, Lynch says one thing about injury and people took it for knowledge.

RW was in the game because it was his turn. Whis said it. Beanie said he was not injured, at all.

Stop perpetuating Lynch's myth, please.

My bad, got home and turned on MNF so I haven't seen anything from Whiz or Wells yet.

Get over yourself. The toss is 100% irrelevant. It was executed perfectly and the ball tucked away by Williams. Williams barreled into the pie without covering with both arms. His fault end of story. You just look for any crack of an opening to bash Whiz just like catfish and new jersey and red desert. It's what you guys do. But here you guys are just wrong pure and simple.

The only reason you kneel is because you have battered Cardinals fan syndrome. You expect something terrible to happen on a good football play.

Ryan Williams had just gotten us a rushing first down. The correct guy ran the ball. I love Beanie but no way do I trust him on a pitch play.

The play was correctly executed until the player fumbled the ball. I know there are the select few on here that just wait at the opportunity to bitch and second guess about the coach...but you are 100% wrong on this. It was Ryan Williams fumble, his fault, and even still we won.

You're absolutely 100% correct!! Some of the Whiz haters on this board just can't deal with the fact that they prematurely called for Whiz's scalp last year & they were WRONG!! They should eat their plate of crow & move on. But they won't.

You guys are arguing Run versus kneel and PUNT?!?!?! WHat???? He wasn't going to make 13 yards if he was driving a truck! The point is...Even if he held on to the ball...you gained a whopping 4 EXTRA seconds...Period!!!! The clock still gets reset....we STILL HAVE to punt....and all that some have argued about ...Still has to Happen. The point is ...we were going to PUNBT period!!!!....WHat is the logical way of getting to the punt??? By pitching a ball to a guy who has 15 carries in HIS CAREER!!!! after coming off a major injury...OR....a simple play that 3rd graders can do?

Sorry, I was pissed at Lynch, not you. Urban tweeted that Beanie told him he wasn't hurt at all, nothing wrong with him.

I wish I could favorite this post. Seriously local sports radio spent the day making fun of crap like this from Cardinals fans.

And we are a 4 yard pass and a 42 yard FG from being 0-2 and everyone!!!! complaining.....We are 2-0 and I am happy...but are we 2-0..Dave McGinnis style(lucky) or are we really legit?

I say the credit goes to Horton. The defense hits and scares people...Our offense couldn't score on a Lingerie Team consistantly. Fitz can't get more than 2 catches...and we average....40 yards rushing!!!!

Bzzzz....

Wrong...

The pitch worked. It was secure. The player fumbled. Get over it. Quit bitching about the best coach the Arizona Cardinals have ever had.

Wow---you really don't understand clock management do you?

Ryan Williams, nor any other Cardinal RB should have touched the ball on that play. And, at the very least, if a RB was given the ball on the play he should have been instructed to down the ball before any possible contact.

You kneel---

You punt with 30 second left---

The odds are astronomically small that they could get in FG range with no timeouts and 22 seconds left.

You play the odds---because YOU OWE IT TO YOUR FOOTBALL TEAM TO DO THE SMART THING.

YOU DON'T GIVE 11 DESPERATE PATRIOT TACKLERS WHO WILL DO EVERYTHING THEY CAN TO FORCE A FUMBLE EVEN A RAT'S ARSE OF A CHANCE.

YOU JUST DON'T.

Not even on 3rd and 5 or 3rd and 3.

It was 3rd and 13...which makes it all the more foolish.

I will explain it slowly for you...

If you kneel, you cost yourself about 10 seconds since there is no pile up, no spotting the ball, ect...

If you kneel, you take about 2 yards off of the punt.

It is a guaranteed negative play. You guys can speak about how a pitch play could become negative, a kneel is negative. This is why no coach in the NFL kneels unless the game is going to be over.

With the way that Tom Brady was playing at the end of the game, whatever you can do to eat up the most clock is the correct play.

Yup they can't cite any game in history of a coach electing to kneel there. It just doesn't happen.

We are in the minority...which is crazy...but it is what it is...We are a whisker from being 0-2...and yet...Horton gets no credit. Our offense is horrific...Our defense held the Seahawks to 250 yards and shut down the Patriots....and it is all Whiz...

Apparently I understand it better than you. As do the coaches, the analysts, the players...

Nope...still wrong. Still a guaranteed negative play.

Get over it Mitch, you are wrong on your 999th attempt to criticize Whisenhunt.

Deluding....

We are talking a difference of 4-5 seconds on a 20 sec clock. If Brady throws 2 20 yard passes OUT of Bounds...then yes.... But even then he would have had to kick a 57 yard fg.......if he completes 1 pass in bounds...game over.

The difference is about 10 - 15 seconds. I listened a lot to this play being broken down by people who do this for a living, not just post on a message board.

Basically it is a free play. Why on earth would you guarantee to give Tom Brady a free play? Only because some stupid rookie didn't cover the ball when that was his only job.

The play worked. The player did not hold up his end of the deal and that is a fact.

I also credit Whisenhunt for what he deserves---

You would be standing here alone, Chris, if Gostkowski makes the FG and the Cardinals lose because of one of the stupidest plays in Arizona Cardinal football history.

Funny how you can call it a good play because Whisenhunt got away with it, isn't it?

There is NO chance you are right on this one. NONE.
