Hard to believe the first game of the year arrives on Thursday, yep Thursday night.

Haller is predicting ASU wins 64-9
http://www.azcentral.com/story/spor...er-state-scouting-report-prediction/14644009/

I don't know, Weber St. is pretty weak. But they brought in a whole new coaching staff and several transfers from BYU, Utah and Utah State. And ASU is really really green defensively. So I hope I am wrong, but Haller may have overstated things.

I am looking forward to seeing the new guys, and hoping that Berc and Manny Wilkins both get some solid playing time in the second half.

My prediction:

ASU: 52
Weber State: 17

ASU offense should wear out the D. Should be over at half. Guessing 38-7. Final score 55-20

Didn't they do this last year, too? Schedule conflict with the Cardinals?

Year before last.

August 30, 2012 - the Denver preseason game at UOP (L 16-13) and the Lumberjack game at SDS (W 63-6).

Weber State is about 2 miles from my house. I don't know what kind of team they have this year, but nothing in their history suggests they should even be on the same field with ASU

Well they gave up 70 points to Utah and Utah St last year and ASU was better than both those teams last year, and offensively, should be as good/even better this year.

Weber St is also debuting a new coach and a new QB.

In short, it should be a blood bath. Graham, unlike Erickson, hasn't struggled to eek out victories against FCS schools.

I wouldn't be surprised if ASU was up something like 48-7 at half and just played back ups the rest of the way.

I get why the NFL game is on Thursday, but why does ASU/NCAA do this?

This...

But once the games really count, ASU's defense is gonna have to somehow show up and rise to the challenge. Or, it could be another season of disappointment...

If ASU gives up 20 to these guys I'm not going to be real happy. Anything more than 14 would be a big disappointment to me.

TV. There is less competition on TV tonight, which means more eyeballs on ASU.

Plus with a young ASU squad this year, it works out well. No matter how young ASU is, they're unlikely to lose this game. So put it on a Thursday gives you a longer week to prep for game 2.

The defense needs so much work, hopefully our first-second team D guys will still get most of the reps in the 2nd half. That may keep Weber State from leaving us with a "big disappointment." ;)

Actually thanks to the genius of Larry Scott the only eyeballs that could be watching are the meager 11 million households in the entire nation that have access to the Pac-12 Channel.

Yes, speaking of that, I was wondering if anyone would mind posting or PM me a link to watch the game. I have XBMC with Mashup but I'm not sure exactly where to look for the Pac-12 channel. I've googled, but not found good sources.

The last couple years, I have been disapointed that I had no access to the Pac-12 channel so I'm trying to figure something out.

Offense a bit out of synch in 1Q, but Strong and Foster are looking really good.

Pretty nice job by the D. except for the one longish run and the facemask penalty. DJ Calhoun looks like he is going to be a star.
