One must question Vince Vaughn's movie choices... He started out as a "serious" actor now he only makes over the top comedies?

Maybe NSD_Blonde can give us some insights on being in the movie...

Wow--what a memory! What can I say...it was a great cast... Vince, Owen, and Will are three of the funniest guys I have ever met; they were constantly out-pranking one another. And, Rach and I really hit it off; we went out several times for midori margs and chocolate pudding...sorry, MM; I was gonna tell you. :(

:deepbreath:

I had actually hoped this would just quietly go away, but thanks for the public outing--I guess "Summer" break is over and it's back to reality... Yes, fellow posters, Harley's "favorite Summer" is not me... I told you you would be disappointed if, and when, we ever met; I'm just your, non-Playmate, average girl next door...

Ahhh, confession is good for the soul; I feel as though a heavy weight has been lifted--I just wish it had the same impact on my azz! ;)

Vince Vaughn is a great comedic supporting actor, but he is terrible at carrying a movie--mostly because the scripts he picks are pretty bad. Wedding Crashers? I can probably come up with the plot of that one after seeing the trailer once.

I wish we could see him in a Wes Anderson movie--now THAT would be interesting. Or at least another movie with Jon Favreau where he doesn't have to be extremely annoying (like Swingers and unlike Made).

"Made" was awful. Also Favereau has ballooned up..looks terrible. Vaughn was good in Dodgeball IMO.

Just got back from the movie and have to say that it was pretty good...

Senator John McCain from AZ even made a quick cameo in the movie... I was shouting in the middle of the theater "that is John McCain, that is John McCain" and my wife told me to, "shhhh"

Anyway it was a good movie and McCain picked a good one to be in...

mediocre at best. Vince Vaughn was decent in it - Owen - eh - Walken - a complete waste of space - they gave him nothing to do. The Cameo was pretty good and really the highlight for me. There's one REALLY funny scene, but that was about it - the rest of it was just mild chuckles every once in a while. Go in with low expectations and you probably won't be dissappointed.

That being said - this has HIT written all over it.

You think it will outgross Charlie?

I won't be surprised if it does, but I will be disappointed. I hate cliched trite comedies like this. If you've seen one, you've seen them all.

No, but I think it will still make a lot of money in the long run. The ad campaign has been overwhelming and there really hasn't been a very successful/good comedy in over a month - it won't be dodgeball big, but it'll probably bring in 85-95 mill once all is said and done.

On another note - Chap - were you as shocked as I was that Craptastic 4 made as much ridiculous coin as it did and is still doing during the week? Talk about a marketing blitz working.

My coworker saw that as soon as it came out and said it was absolutely terrible. I was planning on seeing it but changed my mind after that. I haven't heard a single good thing about it yet.

Absolutely! I think it's a shame that a movie like Fantastic 4 can make so much when a great movie like Batman Begins, while also a hit, doesn't make quite as much in the same relative time frame. (I am only guessing here, but I remember Batman being underwhelming when released)

But, you're right, the marketing was a lot different. Batman had some good publicity, but Fantastic 4 is the classic "stuff it down their throat" marketing that PR execs drool over.

Holy crap, I haven't laughed so much in a movie before ever...I was practically crying at one point...

Vince Vauhgn is freaking hilarious...there is a scene after a dinner on the stairs between him and Owen Wilson that is just pure comic genius from him...he switches gears so fast that it's insane...

Anyways, loved the movie for what is was...and Rachel McAdams...she's beautiful.

Saw it last night. Love it. I intend to see it again as soon as possible. Love the twist between Jeremy and the freaky girl. Vaughn is a genius. Wilson I can take or leave.
