Wells & Hightower

Ok this isn't a thread pitting them against each other. But Lately over the last few weeks I have read countless posts after countless posts stating that Hightower may be starting but all that matters is that Wells is getting the bulk of the work and should from this point forward. Even Joeschmoe the stat guy comes on here and backs that up saying that is the case.

I'm wondering where and how people are coming to that conclusion?

Last 5 games breaks down as follows:

Hightower: Carries 58 Yards 318 Avg. 5.4 YPC
Wells: Carries 59 Yards 298 Avg. 5.0 YPC

Clearly Timmy has just as many carries as Wells and has a slightly better average. I understand that Wells is the more talented RB and the better runner overall. But I think people are sorely overlooking just What Timmy brings to the table and how important Whiz feels he is to what we are doing as a team. Just because people say that is what is happening doesnt make it so. I think they will continue to see an equal work load as the year progresses and as long as Timmy keeps producing like that it wont change much if at all.

I have been noticing that his YPC has been very good lately, but his first 6 were not very good while Wells looked much faster and more explosive which really got people on his bandwagon. They are a great 1-2 combo, but I still want to see Wells getting more touches than Hightower because he is more of a homerun threat. Yeah, hightower had a 50 yarder against the Rams but it was the Rams. Their D is a joke. I still want to see Hightower getting a decent amount of touches though don't get me wrong. Today was one of those days, Wells was getting nothing and Tim was running very effectively. His vision has started to improve and that's making a big difference.

Personally I don't care what the split is as long as they keep running the way they are. I swear Hightower is going to be doing ads for Excedrin the way he runs. There must be 5 or 6 Titans with severe headaches tonight. What a 1-2 punch.

Just don't throw the ball to Krieder anymore. We don't want him killed.

He might not have but I'd like to see how man 10 and 15+ yard runs. As long as Tim keeps producing over 4 YPC I won't be disappointed with a 50/50 split. I'd love to see Beanie get 20 touches in at least one game from here on out to see what he is capable of, but that probably won't happen. As long as the running game is producing I don't really care what the split is.

Good points Shane. many have dogged THT earlier in the year about him catching too many passes & not being effective running the rock. Timmy has been been quit effective in all aspects of the game all season. He is a highly underrated piece of the puzzle.

Yeah if you can't sleep some night you can go to nfl.com and look at the play by play from each game.

So far this season their longest runs in each game over 10 yards are as follows:

Wells: 15,17,14,15,14,26,29,16

TH: 17,11,12,15,14,50,14

That's 15 in 11 games. Last year Edge and TH had 13 in sixteen games.

A real rushing attack.

You need two backs, it has always had good success in this kind of system.

What amazed me was on the one touch that Jason Wright got, how much slower and deliberate he was that THT and BW. It was like watching someone stuck in quicksand compared to Timmy and Beanie. Timmy is going to have a good NFL career IMO.

That is exactly my thoughts finally glad we have two backs that can break the big run. I think Beanie and Tim will continue to push each other. I love the fact Tim was a 7th round pick.
