Yep, livin' in good ole Burbank... Trying to talk to cheesebeef about getting a Suns group together for the playoffs, but nothing concrete as of yet.

yeah - that was my bad this weekend, but I had to watch the first game with big bro. If my schedule permits(and my car permits - damn CHECK ENGINE light!) - I'll meet up with people in the Los Angeles area for Game 2.

Coachella? You’re not a real Suns fan. Where are your loyalties man? Just kidding. I had a great time at Coachella a couple of years ago. Who are the main artists this year?

main stagers are nine inch nails, coldplay, bauhaus, weezer, wilco, new order, bright eyes and chemical brothers and prodigy are in the sahara tent. lots of great smaller gigs too, like jem, tegan and sara, autolux, z-trip (you zoni's who love music should be acquainted with z-trip, the father of az hip-hop, and if you're not, it's a shame . . . the djs that started funky cornbread were his protege's . . . ).

not quite the pull of last year's radiohead, cure, pixies, flaming lips, or the same marquee value of two years ago's red hot chili peppers and beastie boys, but a seemingly even better undercard this year.

you'd come up for the Wedneday game?

Come on LA peeps - let's actually do this. The game starts at 7:30, right? I'll go into Burbank (although it'll take me forever to get there) - or anywhere else that's in the middle of Burbank and West Side.

Burbank would be nice, but we don't have to do there--we can do Hollywood somewhere, although that would take me some time to get there.

yeah - me too - but it Hollywood at least be a little closer for me and sdave Ouchie a longer haul - having to go all the way through the west side and then getting over the hill is like an hour at least of driving for me.

Don't want to watch Game 2 by myself though and not gonna drive down to OC. Any suggestions?

And Elindholm and fordronken and anyone else out here should get off their asses and meet up as well - come on boys - it's the run to the FINALS!

Well, there's always Barney's Beanery. I live closer to Hollywood, but unfortunately I have no idea where a good sports bar is.

I can't on Wednesday. I'm just hoping to be able to catch most of the game. I have family coming back from China and it's really hard to say "Yeah...can we have dinner around five? I have to get to Hollywood to watch a basketball game with some people I've never met before."

It should be possible later, though.

Also, doesn't Eric live somewhere like Pomona? That's a bit far, eh?

Yeah - but you brought up a good point - we'd likely be watching it one small screens. There HAS to be a SPORTS BAR in Hollywood somewhere - right? I'll talk to a couple people , see if anyone you know knows of one. Let's try to figure this out - I think it would be a blast to watch a game with other ASFNers.

Since I’m in Studio City, Burbank and Hollywood certainly work for me. There’s a sports bar on Ventura BLVD in Sherman Oaks called Cozy’s. They have huge big screen TV’s and some pool tables. Of course now that I’ve insulted the Cardinals, Cheese and Ouchie will come and kick my butt.

Come on dude - it's all good! It'll take Ouchie forever to get up there.

And I don't take ignorance for insults! :D

Since I've been called out...

Yes, I live in Claremont, which is basically the next city east of Pomona. So it's a trek. That in itself wouldn't be a killer, except that (a) I'm about to go out of town for ten days, with a lot of getting ready left to do, and (b) thanks to our two-year-old, I really don't have much discretionary time for entertainment anymore, especially in the early evenings. Most of the time, the only way I can watch the games is to TiVo them and then cram them in from about 9:00 to 10:00, sometimes even fast-forwarding through "boring" stuff like sideouts and free throws.

If the Suns get deep into the playoffs, I may try to negotiate an evening off with my wife (although given her work schedule, that's also complicated). Pasadena would be fairly easy for me to get to, if that would work for everyone else.

I;d be able to basically do anywhere during the weekend - but during the week Burbank is about as far as I can go.

We'll get back to you later in the playoffs E. You know once the Conference FDinals start you'll need to be with other Suns fans - even if we'll probably want to kill each other by the end of the game.

What city do you live in again, cheese? Irvine?

Pasadena wouldn't be a problem for me, and it might be easier to get to for Ouchie as well--freeways all the way (which isn't exactly "easy" in LA, but still). Hollywood has no freeways going to it, so if you're coming from the Westside or the coast, it can be a royal pain in the arse to get there.

The problem is, the exact center of where everyone lives is probably around downtown or South Central--not exactly a viable option to watch Suns games... :)

EDIT: Personally, I would love to have a few drinks and a sit-down with all the LA guys--most of us are pretty intelligent posters... ;) Eric and I have talked about it before many times, we've just never been able to follow through.

I;m on the westside - right by Century City Mall - Ouchie's down in OC.

this is gonna sound odd, but what about fox sports grill at the staples center? is it open on non-game days? could you imagine a bunch of rabid suns fans invading that place for a suns playoff game?

maybe we should try to do this on the weekend. next round?
