I just picked up Sea Glass by Anita Shreve. It was in a pile of free books at work. SInce tomorrow is the last day of school and I have two weeks free, I figured I'd check it out.

I haven't read a fictional book purely for enjoyment in years.

I finished EDIE An American Biography - by Jean Stein ed. George Plimpton - two days ago and my mouth is still hanging open. It is about Edie Sedgwick who was a figure in the pop art world in NYC in the '60s. I'd never heard of her.

It starts out with a description of the "Sedgwick Pie" where all these terribly wealthy and well connected Sedgwicks are buried and sort of evolves into this story of breakdowns (many), re-habs (several), incest, drugs, Andy Warhol, bikers, more drugs, Allen Ginsburg, the Factory, and, well, my head is still spinning.

After the book on Churchill, it's hard to believe these two lived on the same planet.

Wife bought me Hellunation by Evan Wright. He also wrote Generation Kill. Should be a great read.

Not what I thought it was, I thought it would be solely about Afghanistan.

That was just one chapter as each chapter covered different topics ranging from porn to anarchy to the UFC.

Decent read. And the story on the dog attack in San Francisco was horrifying to read.

The most disturbing was about the Aryan Nation.

Just started Renegade by Richard Wolffe. So far it's been a very interesting read about Obama and the behind the scenes info about his run for President.

Just finished "9 Months at Ground Zero" about the construction workers who cleared out the WTC after September 11. Parts of it were very moving.

I'm reading "Eve" by a lady author whose name I don't remember here at the office. It's an expansion on the Garden of Eden story and the eviction from there from Eve's viewpoint. It's a great story. Just like I do, Eve wonders where the other people her family runs into came from. In this book, "Elohim" is the name of their creator. Cain actually turns against his family and starts worshipping the gods and godesses of the "other" people.

Is that by David Maine? He does a lot of those biblical "retellings." I read "The Preservationist," a novel about Noah and the flood. I liked it okay.

Confederacy of Dunces was okay, but I think it is vastly overrated. If it hadn't been touted as one of the funniest of all times, I would have liked it more. It was more tragic than funny, to me anyway.

I'm reading Prince of Tides right now. This seems to be the South I know, and love, and hate. Incredible stories here.

The cover alone garners my interest. But I have been hesitant. I've tried Infection and World War Z and thought they were crap. So I don't know if zombie stuff is for me.

Then again I really enjoyed I Am Legend.
I am Legend was a great book. PP and Zombies is just Pride and Prejudice with zombie stuff mixed in along the way. I think it is kind of funny in a way, but not really ground breaking.
