On the record itself to be honest I'm really not that pessimistic, I don't expect to be anywhere near Leinart without a trade.
The 2 best teams on our schedule are philly and the Colts and it's the last 2 games when it's entirely possible both teams will rest starters for the playoffs. I think a split there is quite conceivable.
The next best teams are Seattle, Washington and Jax. Seattle blitzed us but the rematch could go our way if our CB's heal a bit and we improve our run game at all. THat game really went south when Warner went out and Josh turned it over right away, but he's playing much better now.
Washington has a great defense but until Brunell's recent surge, their offense wasn't that good. The game is at home and while I figure they will win, its' not a lock. Jax is kind of weird their run defense is really off this year, the passing game hasn't taken off yet because Williams hasn't taken the quantum leap expected and Jones isn't ready. They're obviously talented and could flip on the switch and take off at any time, but right now I'd say it's another game we could win.
The 2 big losses this year both had extenuating circumstances, the total special teams collapse against NY, and Warner's injury against Seattle, we were in both games at the half.
I think the team is good enough where if something fundamental changes like we learn to run the ball or we find a TE, we can probably improve enough to win some games.
I think 7-9 wins is quite possible although 9 takes a LOT of things going right.
We could certainly collapse if the CB injuries continue to plague us or the run game doesn't get going and the pass slacks off. But I'd be pretty disappointed if we don't win 7 games this year.
