On the loss to the Mavericks today? Yeah I know there is a game thread and a “we suck” thread, but please enlighten me…

What is you’re honest opinion on the current state of the Phoenix Suns? What do you take away from a game like this?

Please just post you’re honest opinion, I would really hate for this thread to be flooded by people having to defend their opinion. I just would like a place where I can come and read opinions without anyone being attacked or whatever. You are able to ask someone about their opinion, but don’t flat out tell someone they are wrong…

I think the Phoenix Suns are fully capable of beating any team this postseason. I think Amare, when hot, is extremely difficult to guard, Shaq will dominate the paint, and Nash with his vision can really jumpstart this team in the postseason. Yeah I am disappointed in the melt down loss, but overall, I know the team didn’t play up to their full potential in the 4th quarter. This game isn’t any indication into what the postseason will be like, teams have off games…it happens.

Honestly.

It's just one game. I left to run erands (sp?) b/c I though we would lose.

I love the come back, but you guys are still a good team.

One game, no biggie, Suns rarely get shut down for that many minutes. Suns look pretty good and I think they took the fourth quarter for granted. I did too.

I fell asleep at halftime and woke up with 3 minutes left to see Nash chucking stupid shots.

I am really upset by this loss. I thought about it, though, and realized that none of the other teams expected to make noise in the playoffs are playing perfect basketball right now... except maybe the Celtics and Hornets.

I just think we did not play 4 quarters. We thought the game was over after 3 quarters with a double digit lead most of the third quarter. There does not seem to be another explanation.

Honest opionion?

Hopefully the team will learn not to keep shooting jumpers when teams start running off 10+ straight points on you. Run it inside, and get out of the slump. You have two dominate big guys, and should be able to do something about it. It's great when we are raining threes, but if the threes aren't falling, you still have to score with the way the Suns play defense. We have to have some good half court plays in order to advance in the playoffs. More plays that give it Amare and get out of the way (Which does work on occasion)

As far as the loss, it was dissapointing to see them blow the lead. Teams in the playoffs will be bringing it every night. No time to relax, and there are no comfortable leads.

My honest opinion is that you should learn the difference between "your" and "you're."

I could of posted the exact same thing greensboro did. after the 3rd qtr I left to the gym because I didn't think I needed to put so much interest in another mavs loss to another top notch team. so I was very shocked by the result. I actually thought the mavs were gonna get smoked today...especially after the LA loss. I thought that was the one the mavs would win. but honestly this was just one game. and these things happen especially when you play against a good team. this type of finish has happened to dallas more than once of late....as you guys do know. it's tough to take when it happens time after time. but if it's a one game thing I wouldn't worry. the gs win was a blowout. this was the first win dallas has had over an elite team in a long long time. I've been saying it for a long long time now on these threads.......I can't imagine that there is one team 1-8 that feels comfortable or that they are above the rest of the pack. this should make for the best playoffs in a long time...and it's just going to come down to who executes in the playoffs. not so much what happened in the reg. season. last year's mavs are a perfect example.

The Warriors aren't an elite team though.
no doubt. I did say this was the mavs first victory over an elite team in a long time. despite being so close in just about all of those games. double digit leads and all.

We still need to eliminate the mental errors, stupid mistakes, and strange lapses that happen. I know I get ridiculed for being a downer, but it is a problem that can be exploited in the postseason. Matchups aside, I like our chances against less experienced teams like the Hornets and the Nuggets, but veteran playoff teams like the Spurs and Mavs will see these mental errors and blow them up on us. Consistency, consistency, consistency. We do not have it, and I very much wish we did.

We played solid. But we still have not shown the killer instinct we need to win it all.

Also, we went like 8 min's without a FG. Thats unheard of for this team. Why didnt we go to Shaq or Amare MUCH more in that time???

I thought it was the opposite. I think we went too much inside and did not have a balanced offense.

I agree. The Suns were force-feeding Stoudemire and O'Neal when it wasn't working. This is the same "tunnel vision" they used to fall into earlier in the year (with Stoudemire only).

I have no issue with it, going inside is exactly what will benefit us in the playoffs. If there is anything about Amare's game on offense that he needs to polish it is his clutch scoring and clutch FT's.

Honestly, I had to step out after the 3rd quarter so I didn't see the where the Suns lost and it's impossible to gather what happend by reading the thread, but I have to think that launching shots with sub 40% shooters is not going to stop runs like this in the post season.
