after his pick he couldn't shake it off and this hot shot gunslinger was shooting blanks all night,
you had better suck it up pretty boy, and learn to handle adversity,
you got a long season to go, and since your dragging me along for the ride along with countless other die hards, we expect more than what you produced tonight,

kudos to edge, the run blocking and clancys defense, but matt you should walk home

To me it looked as if the 9'ers offseason upgrades to the D closed the gap quite a bit over the past few seasons. Score one to their GM.

The Niners D was pretty damn impressive (as was the Cards D) but I also think Leinart did not play well when he had the chance to make plays...or as well as I expected.

Someone on the board said that all of Leinarts worst games last year were road games and his best were home games. Looks like that trend continued.

But teh Niners D derserves alot of props for the game they played.

IMO, he's thinking too much about technique rather than just going back and throwing it to who he thinks is open. He was hesitant and inaccurate in preseason, and he was tonight.

We hoped we wouldn't have to suffer throw anymore growing pains with him, but tonight we did. He hurt us at times.

The flea-flicker....ugh. Just throw it up for Larry dammit!

Watched Romo throw the ball Sunday Night and Leinart throw Monday. Leinart was awful.

New coach...new system.

Plus Whis is way more "disciplined". Denny Green let Matt get away with things. Whis is breaking him down and unfortunently forcing him into becoming a East Coast (Pittsburg) qb. Matt will be in an adjustment period this year, and probably won't be too happy about it. It'll be interesting to see if he can adapt. It'll be interesting to see if he can become a legit NFL qb under disciplined coaching.

Having said that...I think he can as long as Whis doesn't go too "conservative".

Leinart was too mechanical out there. Why don't Whis give him the responsibilities to audible like he did last year. Plus he was holding on to the ball too long and was indecisive where he wants to throw it.

Watch Romo the last 5 games last year. These guys are young and they are going to have bad days and make some bad decisions. I said in an earlier thread it would be a huge mistake to expect Leinart to carry this team. We need to lean on Edge, Fitz and Boldin.
Leinart will be okay. Hell he might light it up next week and throw 3 td's and 350 yds........although it won't matter because we will find a way to lose.

Carson Palmer said being voted team captain meant more to him than his Heisman trophy.

That's leadership, time to put the bar hopping and girl chasing away Matt, at least until you can do that and win to then if you ever need a wingman...... aw forget it I'm married.:D

I'm talking about throwing the football though. Not leadership or reading defenses but just throwing the ball. Leinart was awful. Maybe he hurt his shoulder again or it isn't really 100% yet but if that were the case you'd think they'd play Warner.

Wasn't real thrilled about Leinart's happy feet either.

Matt manned up at least in his press conference:

"I'm very disappointed in myself, the way I played as the leader of this football team," Leinart said. "It starts with me getting the ball to the right guy and making the plays. I didn't do that. That falls on me. We're not going to win football games if I play like that at quarterback."

Maybe it's the Kool-Aid talking, but I think this will spark a team that wants to prove "not again..."

And darn it, we made the niners work hard for that win. I take some pride in that.

:stupid: It is a different team and, like it or not, they looked different. Same outcome, different attitude. Shtuff just didn't go our way. Step past it and look to next week, that is the key. No 8 game losing streaks, no coaches acting like children. Man up and play some god damned football. That's what I think will be different this year. We are 0-1 on the road. Time to move on.

I hear you...and I agree. That lump in my chest has gone away. We lost to a much improved team on the road on MNF on Bill Walsh night. A game we had in the bag and lost. Matt sucked it up and got us the lead late in the game.

And he manned up and took the blame. I like it.

The true test comes Sunday at home. Get to 1-1!

Sad thing is, SF plays the Rams and will likely thump them without Pace. So we can be tied for second in the division after next week.

hate to say it but boldin and fitz sucked too today.

Yep, but so did a lot of people. I think there is a lot of work to be done in practice, but we still have a chance so long as we figure out how to call a game offensively. Wiz has no excuse. Really. He doesn't.

I don't see SF beating the Rams because they seem really dumb, and will go in expecting to win. They will get handled. If Edge on an offensive off night can slice them up, imagine what Jackson will do.

Jackson won't do squat. If you have him in FF, trade him now while his value is high. They don't have pace, and their other good lineman is done for the season already. He can't run to the right. He will not perform. They can't protect without pace, so will be playing catchup.

Jackson is the worst very good FF starter to run with right now. The rams are going to be in shambles. mark that down.

And Gore will gash the hell out of them. He just can't play against us...not the rest of the league.
