LJ is under the belief that nothing he can do will make him a starter this year. He has not been approached about playing anything other than backup left tackle. He is very discouraged at this point and feels that nothing he can do will get him into the starting lineup. He feels that his only chance of playing is if someone gets injured. He does not feel like he has an opportunity to win a starting role on this line. Being in shape is not a factor. He weighs 338, the lightest he has been at camp since being a Cardinal. If you expect to see LJ starting in week 1, don't get your hopes up. The team has not said anything to him about his situation since June 1st.

Man, if I could presume to say ANYTHING to LJ, it would be; QUIT LICKING YOUR SACK and go WIN YOUR JOB BACK! IF what Irk27 say is true, LJ sounds like he needs to quit feeling sorry for himself and PERFORM. I really don't care about his "feelings" one flippin' bit. He is paid huge to PERFORM!

Believe it or not, I WANT him to WIN HIS JOB BACK! I think LJ needed the wake-up call from complancency as much as anyone on that under-performing, over-paid, mess of an OL. And if BIG is the next one who gets benched or cut because he doesn't "get it"...all I can say is GO DENNY GREEN!

I DO NOT FEEL SORRY FOR MILLIONAIRES!

Bill Lewis played and started for the Patriots, Raiders and Cardinals as a C. I think he had a pretty solid career...not a Pro Bowler but you don't play 10 years or so (I think it was that long) if you suck.

We could probably argue until we fell over gasping for air but I still think Big is a better G than T and I fear for McCown. We shall see who is right

You almost wonder if this is Big's audition to make the team and if he falters, he will get let go. I admit that is somewhat wild speculation but at this point I don't know what to think about the happenings on the OL.

As I recall there were some pretty good OL's (All -Pro caliber) during Green's tenure at Minn. Is this just coincedence, because they had great talent, or did Green and his assistants know how to put together and coach an OL???

Anybody know???

Well said and no argument from me! :D

I wondered the same thing about this shot for BIG...Denny Green may be saying to himself "We are paying HOW MUCH for a guard??? Well, if he can't play LT, for that much money, he ain't playing for me...". The AMAZING thing is our previous coaches did not try fixing this mess years ago.

Bingo!

I think DG is just giving him a full shot at LT and then wonder of wonders I believe he will be cut.

Guards are not that important or hard to find, LT's are and that is why they get huge $ and guards don't. Big is either a LT and a great one or useless.

I totally believe he is TOO FREAKIN BIG to play guard. He clogs up the stupid hole for pete's sake!!!!! He is slow and dosen't have the athletic ability or footwork for his destined role. I totally think DG is just seeing if it's fixable or permanent and when he decides his decision will be quick and final. Starter at LT or cut.

i'd pin it on green's talent assessment. seems everytime they had to let an olineman go b/c of contract reasons they plugged in another guy who excelled. i'm willing to listen to denny in regards to the oline. another reason i wasn't so disturbed with the pete kendall thing.

LJ believes he'll be cut. IRK27 told you the exact truth. IMO, Denny Green is just purging the team of players he doesn't trust. LJ and Kendall were our two best linemen.

Occasionally Bert Berry gets pancaked by Leonard Davis, but usually Berry destroys Davis. So too does everybody else who has speed. Leonard Davis at LT is a joke - on us.

I just wonder who Clement has photos of because he is always hanging on but then again he might be better this year I don't know.

I have no problem with the Kendall being cut even if it was vindictive but at some point we are running out of bodies. I don't like Big at all, Wells I think is ok but who's left besides that who isn't either in the doghouse, cut or a rookie?

As I see it, this could be Big's last shot. I bet Kendall never imagined he would be cut and yet he was. Just because Shelton thinks it so, doesn;t mean it will happen that way. Just a strange feeling this is Big's audition to prove he deserves a roster spot.

One thing though. Does it make sense to cut the top 2 OL because you do not trust them when there isn't really a viable alternative in place besides rookies or flip flopping lineman? Is that a sound thought process? I still don't understand why Shelton wouldn't be trusted because as I see it, he wouldn't have been complaining because he was on the sidelines hurt.

McCown is going to get killed back there

Doesnt 90% of the team think the same way.

Who cares what LJ thinks as long as he is working his ass off which it sounds like he his.

I have no idea what's really going on. But it appeared to me from Greens comments when he benched LJ, that he wanted players who could perform on the field. At the time, LJ was re-habing and not available to play, so his benching was not for bad performance last year, it was basicly for being injured.

I expect that soon, LJ will be the starting LT again. Then Green needs to figure out what to do with Big. Cutting him is not the answer. If all else fails, he's an expensive backup.

Anyone see how's Clemment doing? I still belive last year his back was acting up and that's why he played so still and tall. Hopefully he feels better and is playing better.

DG in MN

On at least 1 occasion per game DG would stack the strong side (3 WRs) and pull a guard on a delay. Shelton has good straight line speed (from watching sprints at camp) and could put some serious hurt on a DE/OLB - 5 yards downfield. Maybe he'll not be in on every play, but in situations where we can use what skills he has. He did lose the 30 lbs right?

If what Jurecki and Skorp report is accurate, he came into pre-camp workouts at 380 and he is currently (as of yesterday) at 338, thats 42 lbs if my calculator is working...

Fortunately there are no speed rushers at RT in the NFL (-:

It's just a huge concern for me because you're taking a QB who so far has a known habit of holding the ball too long, and putting him behind an OL that figures to get even Joey Harrington sacked 30 times in a season. Josh has a lot of potential but so did Rob Johnson and the combination of him holding the ball, and playing with a bad OL has basically turned him into a complete liability on the field. Josh has more determination than Rob(who is basically a surfer kid who played football for money), but hell even Rosenbach, who was tough as nails, got gunshy after his knee injury.

With a young QB, protecting him should be a priority, and that means you set up the OL to be the best it can be. I just have a hard time believing Green is really doing that. It's almost like he's purging the OL so that it will fail and then next year he can bring his own guys in and say see, I fixed it.

If our O-Line does spring more leaks than the Titanic, then it will fall on McCown's shoulders to make quick reads and dump off the ball quickly. With this new 3 WR spread offense no team will be able to blitz and double team our WR's at the same time. McCown will need to read this and quickly dump the ball to the Outlet receiver, TE or RB. With Fitz and Bolden's size and hands, they should be able to out jump and out muscle the ball away from the smaller NFL DBs if single covered.

I think McCown will learn the hard way early on if he holds onto the ball for to long. I think the key to this offense this year is McCown making quick reads and getting rid of the ball early.
