Where do you stand on the QB situation?

I actually voted for Leinart. Not because I dislike Warner, I'm actually more of a Warner fan than Leinart. But....as has been stated Whis essentially said that it was a photo finish for starter coming out of training camp, and went with Warner solely based on the experience factor. Also think with the NFC-West being down for at least the next year or two, we should be able to get Leinart some valuable exp. and still win the West. Finally, while you said don't let money affect your vote, the reality is you have to consider it. Alot of people here want to sign Suggs, resign Dansby, resign Antonio Smith, etc. And we have to find a RB somewhere, and another corner/safety. If you are signing Warner to 10 mil dollar contracts, you really won't be able to add too much help. We still need OL depth (possibly starter or two), CB, passrushing OLB, RB or two, safety, TE.

I voted other because you never know what is going to happen from one season to the next. Just 2 seasons ago the team was playing so poorly that they benched Warner and started a rookie. 3 seasons ago John Navarre was throwing passes for us against the Texans and Josh McCown was finishing up the season.

On the other hand you don't want to mess with the chemistry that appears to have developed with Warner and the wide receivers.

As for Leinart we have to remember it took Warner, a Super Bowl MVP, 2.5 years (2005 to the middle of the 2007 season) to finally get things going in Arizona. So there's still time for Matt even if he sits another year.

If Leinart doesn't workout in KW's system there's nobody who has more value to other teams than someone else's backup QB.

If Warner takes a contract that allows us to retain other key guys by all means sign Kurt he had a great year and is a great influence on Matt. If Kurt asks for too much money, go with Matt.

My guess is Kurt will be willing to work with the team and we'll keep him.

I am in this camp also.

In a perfect world (at least from my "doltish" point of view) I would like to see Warner re-signed, and then see Matt beat him out for the starting position in TC next year.

I was reading an article on Yahoo I think about Steve DeBerg and the fact he now runs a QB guru shop.

Apparently he works on QB's fundamentals and the article even said that teams provide minimal amounts of that in the NFL even if they do have a QB coach they often times aren't very good or don't do the same teaching he does.

He worked a lot with Romo I think and others but it seems to me that in the NFL of today a team should get a guy like that as their QB coach or better yet simply hire Steve as a consultant and have him work with guys in the offseason.

They've been monkeying with MAtts mechanics and if you're going to do that I think having a guy like DeBerg monitor that or give input wouldn't be a bad idea at all.

I'm not sure Warner really ever gets into that stuff or is even anyone you'd want to model yourself off in terms of that other than his release is quick.

I was afraid to post it to jinx us, but before both the eagles and Steelers games I had dreams that we won on a late drive, with Matt at QB not Kurt.

So since that obviously wasn't THIS year, it must be next years Superbowl.

Agree.I would think Warner would be agrreeable to deal with.Matt is still a viable experienced backup who could be QBOF.I wouldn`t feel comfortable about trading Leinart and having ST.Pierre or Tyler Palko as 2nd stringer just yet.

What's incredible is that Warner was like never hurt in any signifigant way this entire year.

You gotta believe that's nearly the biggest fluke of all, I think our real grass actually prolongs his career, if he was on turf no way he makes it all year without missing time.

I can't see us repeating that next year and perhaps that'll help in the transition if there is one.

He plays on real grass in a dome, last I checked there's only one place you can do that

5-11 period, why not 6-10? Maybe Leinart would have got nicked up and Warner could have gotten us that elusive 6th victory. I just saw who posted this, doesn't surprise me. Maybe they should start a new section on ASFN and just call it Ignorance. That way you and Rockandrolle would have your own private area to post.

I am concerned that if Leinart is let go or traded during the off-season that a 24 hour watch will need to be in place for some who post on this site. I will say this, if Whiz elects to keep Leinart then that should quiet most of us who were not solidly behind Leinart.

When Kurt retires/gets hurt/starts declining in skills and Leinart is gone the Cardinals will be back where we were when Lomax got hurt...searching, hoping, praying and waiting for the QB of the future every offseason. Don't give me the Massachusetts High School hero is going to lead us to the promise land garbage( A guy with 18 TDs & 17 INts as a senior in college? yeah thats who I want to count on).

I'm confident enough in Leinarts abilities to think he can get the job done.

What i really don't understand is why so many on here support Warner but HATE Leinart? Is there any reason as CARDINAL fans that we can't like BOTH players?

agree 100%. Ideally, they are both on the team next year.I like both guys and both are huge assets to the team.

I think they're both here unless Arizona gets a ridiculous offer from someone. I don't think the league is excited enough about Leinart for someone to throw some picks/players at the Cardinals for him. I think it's best for the Cardinals and best for Leinart if he stays right where he is. My feeling is that most of the league probably considers his value/ability(at this point) around that of a Chris Simms.

They're both left handed, both have mixed results in their starting experience, both have had injuries, both came from big college programs and both could still be pretty good but no one really knows. I think teams would be willing to give either of them a decent shot to once again prove themselves but not at a high price. Leinart's knowledge and experience in the system, familiarity with the players and potential is too valuable to trade away even for a decent deal. It needs to be a really good/great deal for the Cardinals to bite IMO.

Sorry about the age typo, Leinart is actually 25 but if you look at all the measurables--size, age, arm strength, games started, record, attempts, completion %, yards, ypa, td, int, rating...they're very similar. Not to mention Simms has had the pleasure of being coached by the lovable, nurturing, young QB lover, Jon Gruden. I think if Tennessee somehow deals with Vince Young, Simms could be a nice fit for them. I don't know if he was on a one year deal though or if he'll be back in Tennessee.

I agree that I think he's wants, and will, stay in Arizona. My point was, that if he's open to even the smallest possibility of playing somewhere else, it means he's thinking about playing in '09. Graves and Whis won't let him get away.

I heard a cut on the radio this morning of Kurt saying to the fans that came to meet the Card's plane that he loved the fans and that he is proud to be a Cardinal and part of the Cardinal organization. That sounds like he is at least leaning heavily at returning.

Im a lifetime longhorn fan. My uncle played for Texas(got in his first game on the 5oth anniversery of 40yearfan's last game as scoreboard operator for his alma mater). My grandfather ran track at Texas. My dad was in the Longhorn Band. I've seen Chris Simms play first hand.

Other than they're both left handed there's no comparison.
