Here are some random thoughts on this.
1. Isn't it nice to see the Cards with some kind of game plan? In years past we would have invited 3 undrafted rookies to compete for the back up job.
2. Lienart held his own against the Titans in a hostel environment when the Titans were playing their best football of the season. He hit clutch passes, didn't turn the ball over and did exactly what was asked of him. He drove us down in the 4th quarter and got us the lead. Why do people think that is just totally out of the question that Matt Leinart can be an NFL QB?
3. Those who scoff at Jason Campbell, take a look at his stats. He has gotten better every year. He is big. He has the ability to run and has played for what seems to be a dozen different coaches and co-ordinators. Joe Gibbs drafted this kid and he was a pretty good evaluator of qb talent. I think Campell , in this offense and these receivers could and would be more than adequate. Not comparative to Warner, ( but who is?) however, in the type of team Whiz envisions he could be a perfect fit.
4. David Carr. Well, he has to be better than BSP. He is capable of being better than he has been and at times has been very good. That being said, I think Leinart would have to get injured or fall COMPLETELY on is face for Carr to become the starter, which obviously many think is a given.
5. Bottom line it doesn't matter who our qb is if this defense doesn't get better and get better fast. Warner and the high flying circus act is gone forever. That's not to say we won't score points. But if this offense can play a bit more ball control while scoring 20 to 24 pts. a game, an improved defense would make this stand up. However, it will be a long season if we have a 10 play 8 minute drive only to see the defense give up a 5 play 2 minute drive.
