echnically, running back
Beanie Wells was limited in practice Wednesday on the knee injury that certainly seems to be something more than the simple bruise mentioned a couple of weeks back. But there seems to be more optimism Wells will indeed return Sunday for his first regular-season appearance in 2010.

“I didn't do team (part of practice) just because they didn't want to pound on me too much but we plan to increase a bit more each day,” Wells said, adding he was “good.”

“It seems like it's a broken record now,” coach Ken Whisenhunt said. “We're saying the same thing (as last week) but I think he'll do a lot more in practice (Thursday) if there's not any swelling or reaction to what he did today. He did more today than he's ever done (the past few weeks). I expect him to be more integrated into practice (Thursday) if we don't have a setback.”

Whisenhunt cautioned things can always change, but Wells sounded confident he’d play against the Raiders.

"I think this offense can go through me, definitely," Wells said.

I don't see anything in that article that even remotely supports your position. What are you seeing that the rest of us aren't (I often ask my cats the same question, hope your answer is better).

Beanie had surgery on that knee soon after the injury, had an allergic reaction to the medicine, was reported as a bruise, both was lying steady and thick as whiz directed.

As I remember it Beanie did a guest weatherman appearance, and the media and fans talked about what a slacker he was and what a wimp for not playing through a bruised knee. Aint many endorsements headed his way!

Beanie took a big hit for the team , yea he shouldn't have got hurt, but the backlash for saying something outside the open door policy, was swift and severe, too the tune of 116 carries.

All is happy in THesmel's world, but I remember stuff like this, I apoligise.

Read very questionable. Wells bruised his knee in the final preseason game and while he downplayed the injury, saying he could have remained in the game if necessary, it seems to be more of a concern to his coach. Wells did not participate in practice the entire week and coach Ken Whisenhunt certainly sounded as if he were leaning toward resting his projected starter. "What concerns me is I don't want this to be something in Week 12 or Week 13 or Week 14 that you're having issues with," Whisenhunt said Thursday. Fantasy owners share that concern, especially if they spent a fairly high draft pick on Wells. Deep bruises can have a way of lingering, even more so if aggravated by pounding and contact. Rest is the best medicine.

he right knee injury that has hampered Beanie Wells for the past three weeks was more than a bruise. Wells underwent surgery earlier this month to repair a meniscal tear in the affected knee, coach Ken Whisenhunt confirmed on Friday, and is expected to play today against the Raiders.

The injury was sustained in the final preseason game, though the surgery was not announced by the team.

New fashioned

I'm happy with the core of Fitz, Beanie, Kolb and Levi on offense. I really am, I'm happy deuce and Sendlein are back with the new signs.

I hope Doucett is healthy and Roberts fills the slot position.

I'm happy we have Ryan Williams and LSH and think we have a hell of a backfield and a QB is a part of it,

I'm happy we have blocking and catching TE's all in the same uniform.

I'm happy and getting happier.

You're just not making sense here. On the one hand you're calling Whiz out for only giving Beanie 116 carries yet you're providing evidence that the guy was clearly injured. This wasn't some Whiz masterminded conspiracy to limit Chris's effectiveness. The Coach has enough power in this organization that if he wanted Wells gone he would have moved him. Whiz wants and needs Beanie to succeed, there is nothing sinister going on.

Beanie can run the ball like the best of them. He just needs to hold on to it. If he does that, he is going well over 1000 yrds this year.

Some of the players you mentioned in the "doghouse" probably deserved to be there. Deuce comes into camp every year overweight. This season, he signs elsewhere and fails a physical; thus, proving the organization's point. He's lucky the team took him back. Edge missed practice and demanded a trade. Matt was not 100% focused on football as he should have been. Q wanted Fitz money and the organization couldn't/wouldn't pay him, so he bitched, moaned and asked for a trade. Kurt was never in any dog house.

Don't forget Dan Williams being too heavy as well. Do other teams have this many guys with issues? Just curious.

Absolutely, but only if were using the current barometer set a "low" to define "issues." Many of the "issues" we're talking about are benign and are overinflated by people such as THESMEL who have no proverbial leg to stand on with regards to bashing Whiz. The only reason you think we have so many issues is because fanatics like you and I read Cardinals message boards and other social media outlets to the point when we almost know way too much for our own good. Shouldn't we be numb at this point?

I find it humorous that when a player takes exception to a coach's concern; for example, the aforementioned Dan Williams and his documented weight problems, the coach is automatically the one to blame. I understand we live in a sports world where we adorn the people who strap on the pads and put the helmets on, but that does not make them infallible when it comes to a player/coach dispute.

Truth be told, the Cards have no more or no less players issues than any normal NFL team. I think this conversation has been completely blown out of proportion.

But if I'm wrong, we should fire that big bad meanie head, Whisenhunt ;)

We hope he can.. Would be nice to see the guy have a TD run of longer than 25-30 yards for once or maybe twice now that we are in his 3rd freaking season.

Yeah and then he went out on the field in our first preseason game and promptly unearned it. Granted, that's an incredibly short leash but there were different circumstances. Beanie belongs to this regime and fits our needs well. It's completely up to him.

Steve

Up to him and the offensive line and to a lesser degree our QB.

Which is exactly why I asked to question. I spend so much time following the Cardinals that I know little about any other NFL team. I once had a guy say that I wasn't a football fan I was a Cardinals fan. I love it too when some guy will look up from his stack of model railroading or gardening magazines and tell me I'm nuts to spend so much time following the Cards. :D

Seems to me though that ASFN is more the other direction. Most here tend to side with management over the players.

I tend to usually side with the player because in Arizona we haven't had the most stellar crew of coaches. It's taking me a long time to get over the Ryan,Tobin,McGinnis,Green parade. Had almost made it to the top of the Hill when Dansby and Boldin left and DeWreck Anderson was announced as our starting QB resulting in the train wreck that was the Cardinals 2010 season. :(
