Gotcha. Didn't realize his fumbling rate.

Any chance we can see how these guys actually play before declaring them AWFUL picks, and wanting to can our entire coaching staff and front office?

Uhm. OMFG. How in the hell does the coach not know the actual stats of a guy they spent a top 40 pick on, and then go so far as to tout an incorrect stat. It's one terrible thing to NOT know the guy's stats...it's quite another to be excited about the false stat.

You are the COACH. Your scouts were all over this kid and they really are telling you that he never fumbled? Or did they not tell you? Or did you think you drafted the other kid who really didn't fumble?

Ay Carumba!

Maybe the scouts spent the day at Hooters in Blacksburg instead of actually scouting and looking at game film. Someone needs to be fired if he tried to sell Whisenhunt on that BS.

LMAO Damage Control is on

Yeah in defense of Whiz, why would you watch game tape or research the #15 player on your board.

The one you claim you drafted cause he doesn't fumble when in reality he is one of the worst in the draft.

there's NO DEFENSE OF THIS. YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE PLAYER YOU'RE DRAFTING.

I bet you they mentioned this to Williams when they were interviewing him, and if Williams was smart, he didn't correct them about never having fumbled.

After the season, after the other teams have fired their coaches and hired all the good ones...you know how we roll. :D
I really see this organization firing Whisenhunt, interviewing candidates then hiring Grimm as HC.

I get this horrific picture of Whis surfing ESPN after the picks are made and saying "sweet, we got that guy? Wow!"

If I wasn't so sure that PP7 is a sure thing, I would be rethinking my excitement for that pick. As it is, I am thinking someone screwed up and they thought they were drafting Johnny Patrick.

At this point it's not about the players, it's about the process that was used to select them. This is by far the most embarrassing selection I can recall.

Translation:

The nitpick over number of fumbles masks that we (fairly or unfairly) flat-out hate this pick.

Sum of all the posts on this thread thus far can be translated to mean:

"We hate the pick because we passed over Reed, Bowers, Ayers, Mallett, Austin and Ijalana to make it."

Let me restate this more positively: Ryan Williams has a challenge before him - To go out on the field and shut up all of us nay-sayers.

Translation, I actually like the pick. I am terrified that Whis knew less about him than I did and was so confident in that information that he went to the media with it, when he's been looking at the kid for months and I've been looking at him for 5 minutes.

It ain't about Williams. It's about Whis. That's atrocious.

I really don't think that Wiz having no clue what he's talking about regarding his second round pick is a nit-pick.

Sure I agree and hope he does. I am going to be at the Stadium for every game. I hope there is a lot to cheer for.

Doesn't excuse the organization for not only touting things that aren't true, but using them to justify your actions. It is bumbling.

I'm one of the few who like Williams, homie is good. I even called the runningback, but I thought it would be later in the draft. The TE from no where with Ayers and Houston still on the board is when my jaw dropped.

I didn't hate the pick at all, I'm all for taking BPA and trying to fill holes with FA since they are known quantities. So if the Cards felt he was BPA great I hope it works out(though I don't have a tremendous amount of faith in their picks). But to come out touting his ability to hold onto the ball citing false stats when ball security(along with durability) is his biggest weakness is completely ridiculous.

And now it sinks in the media how bad this looks

kentsomers Kent Somers
On Williams' fumbles: Va. Tech official web site has him with 6 career, 3 lost.

You mean the website where the player played is accurate and if you are drafting the guy you may want to look at it?

LMAO

Since when has this team ever filled holes via FA. Quality free agents mind you.
