I have to ask. Was one of the two "Keep Hunter" options on the poll meant to be something else?
Oops yea it was supposed to be 'current nba assistants"

Good catch.

Suns are a young enough team where they can take a chance on a new coach. They dont have to have authority as there arent any hot-headed superstars on this team. Id take a chance on a current NBA assistant somewhere allah Scott Brooks, and the Chicago coach.

Dan Tanna has a better chance of getting the job and he's a fictional character that has no connection to basketball and the guy who played him is dead!

Steve

I know. It was a joke. Dan Tanna might do better than Hunter though. Any relationship to Roseanna Roseannadanna?

Well, I didn't actually think you were serious but it just goes to show you, it's always something.;)

Was Dan Tanna the father of D'Antoni? He's a fictional character with no connection to basketball and the guy who plays him is dead from the neck up. :D

Kenny Smith

I think Dr Smith from the Lost In Space TV show has a better chance of getting the job and he's a fictional character that has no connection to basketball and the guy who played him is dead.:) But seriously, for a guy with no coaching experience and coming straight from the booth (or studio), he might actually be a decent choice.

Jeff Van Gundy would be awesome but that won't happen.

How about Eric Musselman? He's right down the street on the ASU bench.

... I'd hope we can do better than digging up an assistant from a bad college program.

My understanding is he's well respected around the league. I don't think he alone defines the ASU program.

Yeah and he was highly regarded during his time in the NBA too, especially when he was in Golden State. He's been around basketball and basketball coaches all his life and the only real question about him is his ability to relate to the modern day NBA star.

Thats great, but it has not landed him a decent job in the last 6 years. And his previous stints as head coach were uninspiring... and very brief.

I'm pretty sure he was runner-up to Pop for coach of the year about a decade ago. Like his dad, perhaps he's a bit abrasive, but I've never heard anyone on the inside suggest that he's anything other than a very good coach. Whenever he has coached at a level where the talent was roughly even he has always excelled. I'm not sure if he's matured enough to handle the NBA stars but he's less of a gamble than most of the coaching suggestions I've read here.

Okay, all these people respect and like him, but how has that not translated into meaningful employment? I'd like to see him go succeed somewhere besides the d-league before I am convinced that he is anything more than a name... and an uninspiring one at that. He has bounced around between some really low level coaching gigs. Given his resume I dont think he should even be a candidate.

Let's please get an assistant from the Spurs...or the Celtics! Even if its their ball boys, let them be our head coach!

As long as it is not Mike Brown..

And what about San Antonio for the last 5 or so years they have been the Suns , regular season wins and lost bad in the playoffs.

Its a bit alarming that so many teams have already fired their HCs while the Suns stand PAT...

I surely hope they don't plan on going with Hunter as HC for next season unless their goal is to try and get Andrew Wiggins or Jabari Parker...

Well, technically the Suns dont need to fire Hunter. He was an interim coach and therefore his contract is up.
