It's weird that, 31 votes into this poll, Noel has drawn exactly zero support. I wonder whether other fan bases are as apprehensive as we are. I'm starting to think he could drop more than people are anticipating.

IF Noel is still there at #5, we will definitely pick him. If not for us, certainly in context of a trade.

i agree. i'd take him in a heartbeat at 5. His reward outweighs the risk at 5 in a draft this weak.

if he's good, he likely misses half a season and we suck enough to get a super high lotto pick next year. and if he sucks ass...we definitely suck enough to get that high lotto pick next year.

this draft is about the future. Noel at 5 is a move that looks three years down the road, not one.

I think most people assume he'll be gone, and are voting for the most realistic option. (At least that was my take)

I don't like any of our PF/C players for the rebuilding effort. Gortat is the best and he's soft going to the basket, fades down the stretch of the regular season and doesn't play that hard - plus he's a bit elderly.
While this draft is overall quite weak its got a good number of bigs who can defend and to me thats the cornerstone of a team that can succeed in the playoffs. I wouldn't mind us drafting three of them if we could get a couple of picks in the teens and take either Noel or Len at #5, assuming the training staff gives a thumbs up. I like Dieng and Adams after those two. If we only got one I'd take Withey at #30 if he's still available or maybe with a pick in the 25 range. Plus I'd still pursue Thomas Robinson. I know four new guys is a lot to take on but we have time to sort them out - and we don't want to be good the first year.

I think Muscala might end up being better than Adams. He has the more polished game and the same height and weight.

I'm all for big men if they have potential for a high ceiling. Then there is the Mavericks drafting centers Bill Wennington and Uwe Blab at #16 and #17 in the 1985 NBA draft. In fairness though they drafted Detlef Schrempf at #8.

Thomas Robinson intrigues me.

my lord...if we draft Zeller.

Agreed. Zeller would get manhandled by NBA big men and he's not good defensively which will hurt big time too.

And another thing that we all try to hide but remains true is that white big men don't do good in this league anymore. Kevin Love is about the only exception. (note: I said white not Euro so don't try to make an argument with the Gasol brothers, Dirk etc.)

I wouldn't spent a lottery pick on him.

I've made my pick (Bennett) but there is a part of me that is praying we get Porter. If we were a good team he's definitely the player I'd draft. I see the Prince similarities but I just think he'll be a better all around player than TP. If I were a betting man he'd be my pick for Rookie of the Year. Bennett and Noel both have a chance of passing him by down the road but I don't see any chance that Otto will be a bust unlike all the other top talents.

I honestly don't see much of a difference between Porter and Dudley. High IQ basketball players who will never be anything more than a role player because of very limited athleticism.

I honestly dont see much of a similarity between Porter and Dudley. Porter is good enough to be the second best player on an NBA championship team. Dudley is a very good role player, Porter will be a borderline star.

The 2nd best player on the Heat has been Dwayne Wade. The 2nd best players on the Lakers have been Gasol and Kobe (1999-01)

You think Porter's good enough to be on that level? I'm sorry but that's ridiculous. Absolutely ridiculous. We're talking about HOFers here.

It's only ridiculous if you want to cherry pick the sample. I expect Porter to be a better player than the guy who paired up with Lebron in this year's playoffs. Wade is a shell of his former self. I don't expect Porter to be the superstar Dwyane was a few years ago but he wouldn't have to be to complement a top level player. Who was the second best player on the Rockets championship teams? Who was the second best player on Detroit? Not every number two guy is a Hall of Famer. Maybe I'm overrating him a bit, perhaps he'll only be a solid number 3 guy - still, that's worth drafting when you're looking at this group.

I don't see it. Before I get into, I said before that I think Dudley is about the same Porter and you disagreed. Can you explain how Porter's better?

I'm not arguing the point cause I haven't watched Porter much and mostly know about him from watching scout videos and the draft prospect pages.

I think the bottom line for me is that as long as Noel is off the board at #5 there will be somebody I would be happy with available there. I really can't even come up with an order of preference between Oladipo, McLemore, Len, and Porter. If they got one of those four and Dieng I would feel great. Outside of those 4 I would probably have to convince myself to be happy with our draft.

I just hope the McDonagh can put together a roster that is rich enough with young potential to keep this season interesting while making sure we are bad enough to have a great shot at one of those top three draft picks. I mean I don't know why I'm excited to have a great shot at the top three. If there are 3 superstar players in next year's draft we will get picked #4 regardless of the odds. I have no doubt about that. :)

I'm excited about today's draft and I can get excited about whoever McDonnough selects. He has done a thorough job researching the players available so I trust he knows best. Just a gut feeling but I think the Suns draft Oladipo when all is said and done unless McLemore falls. Len would be a pleasant surprise.

Adrian Wojnarowski ✔ @WojYahooNBA

Cody Zeller in strong consideration for Charlotte (4), Phoenix (5), sources say. If McCollum goes 6 or 7, Detroit has Zeller high on board.

LOL. The fact that the Bobcats also want him should be an indicator that he's gonna suck.

In today's mocks Draft net has the Suns selecting Noel at #5 while Draft Express has the Suns selecting Oladipo at the same slot. This draft should be interesting. Porter going to Washington seems like the most sure thing.

The Cavaliers are choosing between Nerlens Noel and Alex Len at No. 1. If they pick Len, Noel could drop to Suns at No. 5.

Damn it! Come on CLE/ORL, take Noel!

Porter is taller, much longer, quicker and more athletic. Yes, Porter is getting knocked on his athleticism but that's viewed through the lens of a top pick. He has just slightly above average athleticism and that's the only thing keeping him from being a highly sought after number one pick. Otto has the length AND the feet to guard up and down, Dudley's lack of lateral quickness limits the kind of player he can cover. Neither of them is great at creating their own shot but again, Porter is far superior in that regard. Dudley is a better shooter from distance but that's a skill he developed after he left college and there's no reason to think Porter can't improve there too. He's certainly improved his mid-range game.

Listening to Gambo and Ash they think it will go like the following at #5 for the Suns:

1. Oladipo

2. McLemore

3. Porter

4-5. Len or Burke

Here's my prediction: If Noel/McLemore/Oladipo are all gone by #5, the Suns will trade down.
