Nothing against him, but he is a wasted 3rd rounder and when we picked him every other team laughed at us. So who would you have picked over him? Please don't come up with a 5th to 7th rounder because every other team had those players in the same bracket.
The obvious would be WR Mike Williams who went to TB at 101, same freaking position!! Also speaking of WR, and a return specialist Jacoby Ford went 108 to Oakland(he wasn't a good return man).
Umm let's see did we need a TE, it's only been the position that has killed us for the last crap how many years??? This was a great TE draft and we pooched it, Tony Moeki, Jimmy Graham and Aaron Hernandez could have been taken and helped our QB's but we didn't do that. Should be noted each of their teams went to the PLAYOFFS and they were helpful in getting them there. This was not a great Olineman draft in the mid, but at 92 Cleveland took Shawn Lauvao, form let's see ASU OUR OWN BACK DOOR!!!! I watched this guy and was rather impressed with him, he was not a starter for the Browns, but he played allot(mainly on run downs) and helped pave the way for Peyton(who) Hillis, at least until he got injured. Also we wanted to adapt the 3-4 Defense Darryl Sharpton went to the Texans, he was an adequate OLB and would have taken Clark haggans job in a heartbeat and helped shore up one of our weakest positions.

Anyone I missed

Who was the WR drafted directly behind Roberts? That was another one they were considering.

Where was Aaron Hernandez drafted? I thought it was before the Roberts selection,. If not they screwed that one up.

Don't think that you can necessarily judge a 3rd round pick by his rookie year. Especially one out of the Citadel. It's really not fair to compare him to a player out of the TE factory that is the U.

We needed immediate help at PR, which Jacoby Ford doesn't do. We would be better off revisiting this question next year.

Hernandez, Ford, or Williams would have all been better but I as well am warming up to Roberts. He was making huge strides as the season progressed and if he can stay healthy he is a great number three option and much better than Mr. Glass (Doucet).

My question is who should we have drafted instead of Matt Leinart? We never REALLY used him; who else was available that we could have taken instead? I have no clue; I don't follow the drafts like you guys do.

11. Jay Cutler, QB, Denver
12. Haloti Ngata, DT, Baltimore
20. Tamba Hali, DE/OLB, Kansas City
24. Jonathan Joseph, CB, Cincinnati
27. DeAngelo Williams, RB, Carolina
29. Nick Mangold, OC, New York Jets

Man... I forgot about DB Jimmy Williams (VA Tech), who was a second round pick before washing out with the Falcons and spending time with us (?) and leaving the league without making any kind of impact whatsoever.

Leinhart was the right pick when we got him, he was graded high and we never really gave him a chance.

I agree 100%, just sayin' since we didn't give him a chance, who could we have gotten instead. This is a major thread hi-jack, my apologies.

If we are going back in time, we should have just drafted Aaron Rodgers the year before at #9(?) and had him backup Kurt Warner until he was ready.

who did we draft the year before?

edit: Antron???

I don't wanna give up Antron...he was great while he lasted...although for Aaron Rodgers I guess I could live with that.

who did we draft the year before? Big?

Big was like 10 years ago now. We drafted Antrel Rolle the year before we drafted #7. He was a need pick because we had almost literally no cornerbacks on the roster that offseason.

Aaron Hernandez was never really an option.

While he has a TE next to his name, he is an oversized WR with weak blocking skills. The Pats took him because they had plenty of block and catch TEs on their roster.

He just isn't a CArdinal type TE.

Hindsight is 20-20. Just pick anyonme that made it big in the third before Roberts and you all would be great draft guru's. I like Roberts and think he will do well for a 3rd. He was coming on last year.

I would give up 100 Antron Rolle's for Aaron Rodgers.

I said it then, I say it now. We should have drafted Charles Woodson instead of Andre Wadsworth.
