Was he kept in a cryogentic frozen state only to be thawd upon the need for a Curt Menafee replacement?

I sat there for like 10 minutes thinking, "I know that voice, but it doesn't make sense to me"

They brought him in because he played for the Cardinals back in the 1920's.

I was wondering when Madden stopped showing up to the booth drunk?
It was a few years ago I think, but I can't remember exactly when it occured.

The pair of announcers for the Cards today was the best annouoncers on TV that we've had all year. I hope we get Summerall every week.

summerall is still better than most play by play guys. it was refreshing to hear a well called game for a change. by the way summerall was the K/LE for the gaints back in the day. heck of a football player.

How was he pronouncing ayenbedejo? The other announcer said it correctly but Pat refused to say it the right way. He was awful. Never said the right name.

I thought he did a good job with the entire game .. he had lots of knowledge about our team and knew many of the players names off the top of his head .. best announcer we have had all season ...

Best we have had all season?

Play by play? Yes. Without a doubt.

All around? I give my nod to Solomon Wilcox who called a GREAT game.

I would like to see Solomon Wilcox and Mummerall do a game together

I thought the announcers were fine. What I 'd like to know is how is it that the control booth always seems to know when Denny is going to spit so that the camera can catch it? I was trying to find a pattern, but he seems to spit when we gain yards as well as when we lose yards. He spits on sacks going either way, dropped passes, interceptions, you name it. I'd rather watch Shanahan's facial tics than see Denny spitting like a 12 year old on the playground!

The guy is an icon so in his old age I say cut him some slack.Hell I remember watching him & Tom Brookshire in the early 70"s when he did a highlight show the freakin Saturday AFTER! the previous Sundays games. If I'm not mistaken it was in black and white.Thats how it was then and we liked it.:soapbox:

Tom Brookshire - what a neanderthal! One of my old favorites was Ray Scott, very understated. And then there was Paul Hornung, terrible tv voice.

Scott was awesome. He could add drama to any game. Terrific voice.

Summerall did a foreword in the book When Football was Football and described his time with the Cardinals as being distasteful but he values the friends he made. I found myself wondering why he was allowed to write the foreword.

Notably, Bill was not running the team during the 1950s.
