I'm another fortunate to be a life long Cardinals/Cardinals fan. So still would be a red it'd fan if they were in St Louis or Birmingham or wherever. Fortunately the baseball Cardinals more than make up for the football team.

Can't imagine how much it must suck to be a Cubs/AZ Cardinals fan. :p

I'm in your boat! Was a diehard Cardinal fan in both sports. Oddly, I grew up in Syracuse, NY HATING the Yankees & football Giants. They could move to Alaska & I'd still be a fan. Only 1 thing would stop me from being a Cardinal fan.....if they ever changed their nickname and/or uniforms.

I'm not from Arizona, and only briefly lived in Tucson when I picked the Cardinals as my team as a toddler, so I really don't know. My dad always pushed me to be a Redskins fan, and it didn't take. Maybe it would have if not for the fateful day he asked me who my favorite team was, and a commercial led me to only knowing the Cards as an NFL team besides the Skins.

I have zero regional loyalty with my teams, even though I'm a Cards, Suns, and Sun Devil fan. It all just worked out that way. I'm a Ducks and Angels fan too, so I somehow split the regional difference from Vegas. But, it wouldn't matter if my team were from Poughkeepsie. I'd stick with them.

Even back in the 60's and 70's we ended up with a lot of Cowboys games in the Valley. There always seemed to be a Devil or two on the roster so they were easy to like back then. Jones changed all that for me.

I loved Barry Sanders... so I probably would have adopted the Lions. Basically I was screwed either way.

I followed the 49ers before the Cards got here.. I didn't follow them too closely, because as someone said earlier, I was too preoccupied with the Suns back then.. Dropped the 49ers right when the Cards got here, then I started following football more than ever before..

f the cowboys

My favorite team would be whoever is playing the cowboys - because as stated before - they were the only thing on.

My mom had me convinced I was a boys fan growing up...brainwashed...then I turned on her...;)

Probably the Bears. Whole family is from the Chicago area before they all migrated to the valley. Was a big Cubs fan before the DBacks moved to town.

Da Bears, I told my story way back in here but I'll cliff note it. Stepdad moves in when I was pretty young, couple months later football started so he sat me on the couch and proceeded to tell me about America's team, God's team, his team. Right about then Payton took a sweep to the outside, stiff arm somebody to the ground, and run it in for a TD. "Who's that?" I asked, he said that's just the Bears, so that's who I went with. They went to the Superbowl a couple years later, that was sweet. Stepdad turned out to be cool too, but I'm glad I didn't fall for that cowgirl crap.

I don't even follow the Bears anymore, not even when they are doing well. It's been Da Cardinals since they got here, the Pheonix Cardinals if you will. I still pulled for Chicago, but the Bears/Denny Monday Night beatdown was brutal on me, that's when I knew there could only be one!!!!

Still the Cardinals. My grandpa was an avid Cardinal fan from back in the Chicago days. He passed down the tradition/curse to me.

Me too. My dad was a Chicago/St.Louis Cardinals fan. So now I'm a St.Louis/Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals fan.

Went to many games in the old Busch Stadium with my uncle who had endzone season tickets. Will always be a Cardinals fan anywhere they play.

I was a Dolphin Fan growing up, but when I moved to AZ in '87, I chose to follow the Seahawks because I wanted a west coast team (And Bozworth was going to be the next great LB that would be fun to cheer). I only followed them for the one year because the Cards relocated the next year.

I left AZ in '93, and considered switching my loyalties to the Panthers when they started up, but in the end, I couldn't give up on my RedBirds.

Had the Cards not moved to AZ, I suspect I'd be either a Carolina fan today, or reverted back to the Dolphins, as they are my wife's team.

Go Cards!!!

I grew up in St. Louis, so the Cardinals. I moved out of St. Louis the same year the Big Red did, so it is surprising I have maintained ties. It is hard to break the bonds formed in childhood. I am impressed with those who are not from St. Louis or Arizona to have been fans through all these down years.

Still the Cards but probably not quite as rabid.

Before the Cards moved here I was more inclined to have favorite players and not teams so much. Although I did become a Chargers fan more than any after I lived there for 3 years (during the Fouts/Coryell years). Of course, I loved the Cardinal Coryell years back in the day.

My Dad was a Packer fan, mostly because he admired Lombardi a lot. So when I was first getting into football they were kind of "our" team on the rare chances we got to see them on TV.

Other than the Chargers I was mostly an NFL fan and not the AFL. These types of questions always brings back many, many fond memories of the days when football was played on grass, outdoors, rain or shine. Loved some of those mudbog games in the 60's and early 70's.
