Alleged felony sexual-assault at a Vail resort.

He turned himself in and posted $25,000 bond. More details to come.

... Didn't he just get married??? Damn, nothing surprises me anymore. But, I've been saying that for years.

This is hugely bad for the NBA! Kobe is one of the young up and comers the NBA is promoting!! Not good for the Lakers either!!

I have trouble believing this. This is the same Kobe Bryant that had no interest in accompanying his teammates to the bars, strip clubs, etc.. He seems like a happy husband whenever he is on TV, and he is a new father.

You never know, but this sounds like BS to me. We'll see what comes of it.

Honestly this surprises me as much as if someone like Shawn Marion, Casey Jacobsen, etc. was arrested. However if they have the physical evidence to charge him I've got to assume that at the least he was cheating on his wife.

At least the alleged victim is a woman. I'd figured Bryant had gotten himself in trouble with Marv Albert.

"Kobe, from deep! YESSS!!!"

Whoa, I was watching ESPN News and they said that they have "multiple pieces of physical evidence" with other tests due back Monday which allowed them to charge Bryant with a felony count of sexual assult. I am no forensic scientist, but would physical evidence be DNA? I am no DNA scientist, but if Clinton taught me anything, there are only a few ways to leave your DNA around.

Another thing that caught my ears was that the Sherrif's office took the evidence directly to a judge to get a warrant instead of going through the District Attorney, which it the "normal" practice.

Can't wait to hear what happens

Well said Ryan!

I gotta agree this dont look good for Kobe at all! Sounds like they have a very strong case against him. Totally out of character for Kobe or at least I would have thought!

No matter whether he is innocent or guilty he will likely just pay a fine and serve the mandatory 'celebrity' community service, which is something he would probably do anyways.

Wow...just when it was looking like you could hand the Lakers the title.

Irony stikes again. Yesterday the sunsboard on espn was once again being spammed by some Laker idiot with "Marbury was arrested or Amare was arrested" posts.

HAHA!

Wonder what Kobe's wife says...

I am really surprised.
As much as I hate the Lakers, I always had a lot of respect for Kobe. I always thought he was one of the good duys in the NBA.

She says, "I guess my anniversary diamond just got a little bigger, eh, bub?"

You know what's sad, even if he gets by with a slap on the wrist--it will be interesting to see how the Laker fans react. Will they react like we did when Jason Kidd got into trouble--or will they, knowing that there is no way the Lakers will trade Kobe, "forget" about the incident?

And will this incident affect whether Payton and/or Malone come to the Lakers?

You know what, I am going to be the devil's advocate here and say that I do not and can not believe that Kobe is guilty. I think it's probably a bogus attempt by some chick to get some money.

This was my first thought as well. I am waiting for details but even if there was any kind of relationship there it would be damaging as well. If he wanted to screw around why would he get married so young?

Good move by Kobe to get a female Denver based lawyer to handle this.

I will be suprised if these allegations turn out to be true.

Actually if he is guilty this will just spur a trade of Kobe. He has already said he is opting out of his contract after this season.

He really has no intention of staying a Laker. This would just be the final straw.

That is simply not true. My gut feeling here in Los Angeles says that Kobe would remain a Laker and will stay a Laker no matter the outcome (other than a long jail sentence of course).

I doubt it. Wasnt payton arrested during the playoffs? I am guessing the players will ignore it. Payon is being wooed by Shaq, not Kobe anyway.

I agree right now. The fact that the sheriff department didnt talk to the DA at all is really weird. Wow, I just read that they did talk to the DA, but ignored their request to wait on a warrant and got it anyways.

"Mr. Bryant is innocent and expects to be completely exonerated,'' Denver attorney Pamela Mackey said in a statement. "Contrary to the direct instruction of the district attorney's office, the Eagle County sheriff's office sought and obtained an arrest warrant ... this action illustrates the complete bias of the sheriff's office.''

The DA also said it doesn't know if they will even file charges. Apparently in colorado the police can arrest and obtain a warrent, but only the DA can file charges.

Lets not forget that Jordan wasn't an angel, yet he was endeared by everyone. He is/was a player and a gambler. He's great at keeping people's mouths shut.

Here is something I enjoyed:

Along with determination, Bryant has often shown dignity and heart many fans feel are missing from other NBA stars. Intelligent -- he speaks fluent Italian and scored 1080 on his SATs -- and blessed with a camera friendly smile, Bryant is frequently seen on television in advertising campaigns. He signed an endorsement deal with Nike last month.

Since when is a 1080 something worth mentioning? ASU has one of the easiest admittance policies, and one of the requirements is a 1080 on your SAT. (For those who want to know, you can do that, have a 3.0 gpa, be in the top 25% of your class......or write a letter and get on academic probation)
