Why did the forum die?

Let me also say, and this is from my perspective, that there was a certain clique here that had a gang mentality and would pile on if you had anything to say that wasn't toeing the company line. That was a huge turnoff. Two things that come to mind were was when anyone questioned Whiz benching Edge and subsequently anything relating to Whiz himself. If anyone questioned Whiz it seemed they were swiftly beat down with the power of the ASFN brass. You can question that, yawn, roll eyes, whatever, but when on the receiving end it isn't fun. Intolerance of differing opinions simply kills discussion. We call all look back and maybe others see it differently. Who knows. We have all changed. Lives are all different now. Maybe if it was a face to face conversation it would have been different. I don't really know. All I know is we are all Cardinals fans and at the end of the day we are on the same side.

Its as dead as you feel it is as far as I am concerned.

Ain't nobody holding a gun to people's heads to be here, and to be honest, I have seen this board in way worse attendance.

Personally I have enjoyed the board more lately, not to mention the improved features on the board. I guess in my case, I figure I have 12 people on ignore so that adds to the fact I see less.

Regardless the topics are good, and the banter is some what civil, which gives this a lot more value than most places on the internet.

I guess I get the topic and reason for it, but I find it kind of in poor taste to post the status of a message board on the board itself. I do not see how people are going to want to join a forum where it has a topic on how it is dead. Just sayin'

Everyone has a right to talk about whatever they want on this forum, just think this topic is way off topic to be in the Cardinals section of the board, and for the sake of those who still care to come by, I would suggest moving this thread to "Other", or another part of the forum.

Just my 2 cents.

I don't mind leaving it here for a while until the discussion hit its end point and then moving it. You are right though that this probably should have gone elsewhere.

I think that this kind of discussion board is increasingly a relic. Younger kids just don't do this. It's all Twitter and Snapchat now, so there is no new blood coming in as we thin out in number over time.

I showed two of my daughters this message board about a month ago when they ask me what I was doing and I may as well have been showing them a picture of a dinosaur.

Chris Sanders, Jersey Girl and I were talking about this Sunday at the game. I've seen this at a number of message boards, no new blood coming in, and the oldsters dying out or having life changes (like a baby). In addition, as pointed out by others, this used to be the only place to get Cards info, especially if you were from out of town. That has changed dramatically.

Some of the terrible moderators drove out a lot of the early posters because they disagreed with their iBuddies on things. Now the board is dying, they are getting what they wanted, a board mostly of people that all think alike. Boring.

if people cant handle differing opinions, they shouldnt post. If someone disagrees with me, it doesnt change my day.

Sure whatever you say. That is also a good illustration of how far this medium has fallen.

Acknowledging that almost nobody uses G+ and a correct statement that it is like the Zune of social media is an illustration of the demise of a board?

I mean, who uses G+? not old people, not teenagers so who?

somers blog, urbans blog, jureckis show, lots of local radio, PFT, the rise of fantasy football, the rise of fanduel and etc, more coverage on TV, more cardinal coverage everywhere, twitter, cardinals apps by azcentral, the cardinals own app, etc.

whole lot of factors that have lead to this board not being the saving grace of information as before but it is still the most informed section of cardinal fandom I have ever found and can pretty much guarantee you anyone who is here regularly knows more about the cardinals than those who are not.

A bot is a computer controlled enemy you can fight in shooter videogames in case you don't got human friends
oh I am well aware of those bots :)

also spam bots and etc.

just didnt know forum bots but as search engine stuff, that makes sense.

How about a sexbot? They are working on those too.

Actually a good example is on the Cardinals main site. Go down to the bottom anywhere theres a comments section and you see those posts like ">>>>>I made $48765 a week working 2 hours a day, find out how here 'link'<<<<<"

Think of them as a roomba vacuum. Just bumping into stuff til they find a comment section (including forums)

I am an average Joe, and I come here several times a week. I feel I get some of the best insight on Card football right here. I don't post much because your knowledge and writing far exceeds my skills. Being on the other side of the states (SC) it hard to feel the local build up of excitement here. I have followed the Redbirds since 1968. I appreciate all the insight you guys and gals are sharing. It is nice not getting all the BS that other boards have. All you great writers keep it up!!!!

I never log out so it will always show me as logged in to ASFN(and UCLA basketball message boards). I'm sure I'm not the only one who does that.
