Why I would trade Boldin........

I think we would be hard pressed to get an equal return for Boldin, so that sort of nixes the idea in my mind.

More importantly, Fitzgerald has played only 11 NFL games. Boldin has played only 21. We don't know exactly *what* each of them is yet. It's far too early to call them duplicates.

No way do you trade a player like Boldin unless you absolutely have to. Green knows he needs multiple WRs in this offense. Good ones too, like Moss and Carter. He has two of those right now and the Cards are just going to have to shift some of the $$s they have tied up in the O line to keep Boldin. The WR position will be sucking up a lot of cap, but that is what you would expect in order to have the talent necessary for Green's offense.

I haven't read through the entire thread, so forgive me if these points have been brought up.

#1: I completely disagree that Fitz has “more upside” than Boldin at the position. What leads you to believe this? Boldin makes YAC. Fitz hasn’t shown an ability to do that.



#2: He IS every bit as good as Fitz. In fact, he’s better. Pay him.

#4: Yeah, that’s true, but why can’t we have more than 1 great WR on the team—even if one isn’t “Green’s guy?”



#5: I don’t think he has that kind of value yet. If he continues to play at a high-level the rest of the season and into the first part of next, maybe he will. The injury really dealt a blow to his trade value this year. (but all that is irrelevant—he shouldn’t be traded).



#6: And you’re the only one with this insight? See #5—why would he have the trade value you claim if this is the case?



#8: This is something that should have been dealt with in last year’s draft. We wouldn’t be talking about trading Boldin if we hadn’t taken fitz. Green wants good WRs in his offense and knew that he’s have 2 of them with boldin and fitz. IMO, they’re both in his long-term plans.

Well he has only been in 3 or 4 games, but the Q has gotten 280 yards. Fitz has 570 in 11, so hes catching up pretty fast. I think Q will be alright just because he hasn't had a 200 yard 2 t.d. game people seams down on him. We have like 28 million in cap room why we don't have money for both is beyond me. I predict a 100+ yard game from the Q this week just you watch!

5 games for Q, doesn't seem like it because of the Buffalo and Giant games with 200 yards passing combined.

I met Quan and Fitz at the Suns game last night, they were all buddy buddy, they looked like they went to the game together. Fitz was awesome, Q seemed alittle into himself but who knows. I don't think there is any "competition" between the 2

In reviewing Sunday's game (only 1st half and last 3 min so far) I see that often the route patterns are to send the split end more often to the side lines and the slot either hitches, runs a deeper route more in the area of the hashmarks, or crosses the middle.

I would think Fitz is the better for running the sideline routes where he can elevate up and get those sideline tosses over the defending CB.

Yes he can go over the middle, but there, I think I would normally give the nod to Quan.

I think they either need to mix up the patterns a little more or actually switch who is the slot receiver.

I agree, I should have made my point more clear. I think Johnson and Fitzgerald should be the ends, while Boldin operates out of the slot. Boldin runs pretty good routes, but his size and strength is crossing patterns. I would love to see Boldin be what TO was in SF. Always in motion across the formation, then running back over the middle or option routes.

This is all crazy talk. Unless Boldin wants out and becomes a problem, he's under contract through the 2006 season. He signed a 4 year deal in 2003. The contract he received was what a middle 2nd round choice gets, not the 3rd overall pick. That's reality.

Boldin signed a four year contract worth 2.58 million with a 1.2 million in signing bonus after the draft.

The reality is because of injury and QB play Boldin's market value isn't great, especially with the whole NFL knowing they'd have to renegotiate his contract TOO if they traded for him. We do need a QB and a RB, but we won't get a guaranteed guy at either position for Quan IMHO. He's much more valuable to us right now as a player, than trade value.

It wouldn't stun me, Rosenhaus has a history of getting players out of one team to another. I just don't think Quan wants out I think he just wants to be paid more like his level of play.

Some words just keep coming back and smacking you in the mouth. Now All can see that Q is by a pretty fair distance our best player in our offense and probably on our team. I wish he would play CB also.
