Will this 2009 Schedule stay as is? I thought the Cards would get a tougher schedule given their SB appearance. Meaning, the league might replace DETROIT with a higher ranked team - like, a DALLAS or PHILLY? No?

NFC West: Arizona

Home: St. Louis, San Francisco, Seattle, Green Bay, Minnesota, Carolina, Houston, Indianapolis

Away: St. Louis, San Francisco, Seattle, Chicago, Detroit, N.Y. Giants, Jacksonville, Tennessee

That isnt how it works. The schedule is based on your divisional finish, so the schedule will not change.

We play DET because we play all NFC North teams in 2009.

that's good news.....thanks. I knew the "rotation" was set a bunch of years out but wasn't sure if the leage could still adjust it based on your finish...

Yep. We play Carolina and NY because we finished in first in our division and they finished first in their division. Abomb is spot on, we play all NFC North and AFC South teams next year. It's part of the cycle that is used year in and year out.

Here is a good link for our future schedules-

gotcha ... So the GIANTS and CAROLINA are the 2 in the schedule that gave us a more difficult schedule based on winning the Division... so those 2 weren't decided until this regular season had ended...if the Cards had finished 2nd or 3rd in the division this year they would have gotten 2 lower ranked opponents for 2009 I guess ...

I think the schedule impact on our super bowl finish we be more prime time games probably both Sunday and Monday night games. The home games against division winners Indy, Minnesota and Carolina could qualify plus the road games against the Titans and Giants would also draw a national audience.

The days of playing only on Sunday afternoon are gone. I hope for good!!!

You are correct. If we finished second, we would be playing Atlanta and Philly.

Does the 1st game of the year now - the THUR night game - always feature the Super Bowl Winner? or is it possibly either of the 2 Super Bowl teams? i don't know how the NFL does that for sure.....

But i agree with you -- the Cards will get more Sunday/Monday night games this up coming year ...

Not me. I love Sunday afternoon games.

If we are only playing on Sunday afternoon it means we have a crappy team that no one wants to watch on prime time. So as much as I enjoy the Sunday afternoon games I would rather have a consistent playoff team and see them on both Sunday and Monday nights.

Well it going to happen, do doubt, and I understand your angle. It just makes work a whole lot easier the next day if I start sleeping off the beer at 9 instead of 12 or 1.:)

Ditto to what everyone has already said.. schedule stays.

But here's a funny tidbit... The Steelers will play the 4th easiest schedule next year. Their opponents have a combined .434 winning percent based on the 2008 season.

The Cards have a pretty tough schedule, but if they play the way they did in the PO's I could see them going 11-5 or 12-4.. Either way they should be back in the PO's next year.

Do we get SF on MNF again?

3 years runnin!
Only the home/away opponents are set. The official schedule with dates should be released in April.

I wouldn't doubt that we'll open up again as part of the MNF doubleheader. SF is sure to be a more attractive opponent this coming year than they were last year. They've gotta have a west coast team for the nightcap game and I doubt they want to go back-to-back with the Radiers, especially after how they were obliterated in last year's game.

Hope we get at least 1 at home.

if Cleveland got like 3 this past year, no reason we shouldnt get multiple either.

Whats interesting, it seems we have a lot of games in common this year between the Cards and the Steelers.

Interesting, Cards have the 27th easiest schedule (base on this years results) in fact below the Rams, Seahawks, and niners.

Ugh...I hate the Cards being on monday night football.

Some sadist will probably have us play the Bears on a cold, snowy monday night in Chicago. :p

If the Browns got 3 MNF games for missing the playoffs last season, the Cards certainly deserve a few more...

Don't overlook the fact that the Cards had a real difficult schedule outside the division this season. Those opponents were 98-61-1. Only one of the 10 had a losing record and that team was 4-0 when we played them.

Your comment about playing the way they did in the playoffs brings up another point. A lot of media people think the Cards just got hot and only played one month of good football. They completely overlook the fact that the Cards were 7-3 at one point essentially clinching the division with 6 weeks left. Hardly only playing good football during the playoffs.
