On that William Gay profile page a couple of posts up, it says...

90 times thrown at
47 completetions
13 passes defensed
3 td's scored on him. - one of which it was claimed on there that he was expecting help over the top that he didn't receive. This 3 td number includes playoffs, where one of the scores occurred. Also said he had tight play on another of the td passes but didn't get his head around.

Also claimed he keeps himself in top shape, and works out with Ike Taylor in Florida.

...and he's a physical, willing, tackler?

That was a good write up whoever wrote that.

..and I think an even better signing.

Hated losing Marshall but am happy to see the Cardinals sign a replacement. Also agree Horton knows how he will use him.

Good signing.

Dont get your hopes up, William gay is terrible.

He needs to be strictly a depth guy in case someone goes down injured. This is in no way a good signing. Guy has 3 picks in 5 years. Richard Marshall had 16 in 6.

Focus needs to be on Bell

INT's is a nice attribute but hardly a sign of a good or bad CB. Ike Taylor is a good CB and has 13 his entire 9 year career. Does that mean Marshall is a better CB then Ike Taylor?

Pitt CB's as a whole do not create a lot of INT's historically. Surprisingly their Safeties do but not their CB's.

I don't think that's fair. Yes, William Gay was the 11th-best starter on Pittsburgh's defense, but it's a really good defense.

Even if Gay is the 11th-best starter on our defense, he's an absolute upgrade over A.J. "Remember Him" Jefferson and/or a Greg Toler who might be 70% back from a severe knee injury.

CBs don't get picks in Pittsburgh's system. They're the last line of defense most of the time in three-deep coverages.

Question. Did William Gay play better while Horton was in Pittsburgh than he did last season?

Gay is not a terrible player, far from it. He is an average corner who knows the system and will be expected to play nickel which he can do well...and dude can tackle

Just looking at the INT numbers seems to be a bit of an oversimplification to me. Last year our defense managed just 4 INTs over the final 9 games (NOTE - I'm not counting the INT on the hail mary in the SF game that PP made at the half). We went 7-2. Not saying you can count on our defense to be as locked down in the red zone as we were last year, but Gay knows the system and fits the system. Given how that system looked the last half of the season, I'm perfectly fine with this being the replacement for Marshall (and assume the price tag is cheaper - but we'll see what the #s look like).

Who is this badass ILB that is still out there, truly asking because I haven't followed that position much. The reason being is that we already have enough (IMO) at that position that we won't and can't afford to add anything in FA. Now drafting one is always a possiblity since that is how the draft should be utilized.
Oh, I think damn near anybody could fill the other ILB spot and we'll be good. But IMO, once Scho really gets the playbook down and he and Acho are our full time OLBs, Peterson matures more at CB, that 2nd ILB spot is really our only weak point
How many FA WR acquisitions truly pay off in FA? How much money can the Cards afford to put into the WR position? Once again the draft is where we would possibly look to upgrade the WR unit, same thoughts as the ILB position.
I think we can get a big difference maker in the draft at either of those positions, but I doubt we can get one for both. Signing Manningham would have at least filled that spot. Plus we do still have an OL that needs addressing and we don't have a 2nd rounder

Anyone know if CB Marshay Green has any upside and will re-sign with the Cardinals?

Marshay seem to be too hyper. His value as I see it is as a gunner on special teams. Loved the way he played his first year but he just looked over matched last season. Fast kid but maybe just too small. Sort of like Money Mike Adams.

Nope.

Good tackler, very good on special teams, and can return punts in a pinch.

In coverage ? Give me Michael Stone.

Oh yeah the guy Adrian Peterson turned into roadkill.

tells me nothing, Peterson can do that to a lot of people. "I just got trucked by AP!"..."oh really, we all have" lol. Unless your DRC and use your world class speed to get as far a way as possible from contact :)

Now sign Bell and i will be completely satisfied and the team set up very well for the draft. Means no reaching for need.

I agree, with two caveats. First, we need to get CC signed to a long-term contract. It will be extremely embarrassing and cost us lots of money, if we do get to keep him, if we don't. The other is that I just feel that our WR position is not good enough moving forward, and I can't help but think that we messed up in not taking advantage of the deep FA WR pool.
