Nothing shocking:

When asked about the difference between Thomas and L Brown: "Not much" Both are excellent football players, both will turn out to be excellent NFL players. Agreed with the assesment that Thomas is better in space, taking pass pro sets -- Brown is more powerful, better run blocker.

Asked if Peterson's injury is a concern "no -- medical staff checked it out and is fine." Peterson had a very impressive interview, impressed Wis with how physical a runner he is.

On positions to look for: QB and WR are obviously not needs. Everything else is being looked at. Noted teams are always looking for corners, especially one with some punt return ability. Noted he "likes his defense", but always want to add LBs because they take a beating and are backbone of special teams.

Wants a blocking TE -- has hopes for John Bronson (noted Leonard Pope "is physical", but "needs to fix some technique things") - but said the TE position "isnt close to where we want it to be" -- but said it could be day 1, day 2 or an undrafted free agent.

Noted teams are always looking for a RB, given the amount they plan to run the ball, they take a beating, so depth is needed. Noted the guy is often found "later in the draft"

Heard the interview as well. My take is that we're taking Levi Brown. No doubt about it.

I think the Cardinals dream scenario is to trade down a couple of spots, pick up an extra pick, and take Brown. However, I think if we get no takers, I think we'll stand pat and take Brown, even with Thomas on the board.

Wis seems to really like Brown. They played a clip of Graves comparing the two. The whole "not much" comment, just made me think that the decision to go with Brown over Thomas, and the Cards are already preparing the response to media/fans that will cry out if we stand pat at five and take Brown with Thomas still on board.

My two cents.

My fingers are tremling about the idea of Brown being taken over Thomas if both are available.

If that happens, DCR will hold a candlelight vigil, praying that we can bring Green back into our War Room somehow.

Whiz is already went from a great hire, to having me cautiously optimistic with his line changes this year. A bad draft will make me cringe.

I am certainly leaning the way you are putting it. I also feel I am not in a positioin to criticize KW if he thinks they are that close. He has seen a whole lot more of both of them than I have. I also feel that there are 3 teams in front of us who could very easily take Thomas anyway. We better get ready to celebrate Brown coming. He is a player.

You might feel a whole lot better if you continue your passion for the team and realize that KW probably is a better talent evaluator than you or me. Of course do as you wish!]

Impossible. Internet fans are #1.

If Whiz grades Thomas and Brown as equals, fine. You need to take the sure thing "Thomas," or you need to trade down and aquire a pick or two and try to grab Brown that way. Brown, and his value is not worth the #5 pick. #9 is the earliest that DCR, (and the rest of the teams in the league) would draft Brown, and the difference in the 4 picks is an extra 2nd rounder. Considering what the Cards have been able to do recently with their 2nd rounder, you HAVE to keep that in mind.

My take is that they are preparing fans for a trade down with Thomas on the board with them eventually taking Brown--

I think if there are no offers -- they take Thomas

There are no sure things with OL...Just ask the Raiders about Rober Gallery. IMO, Thomas could just as easily being a big bust like him.

Wis on 910

I knew as soon as I went on this board this am I would read something like 'Cards like Brown more than Thomas' statement'.

If thery take Brown at 5 they are idiots. He is not top 5 material IMO. At least trade down grab him and get an extra 2nd rounder.

Incidently I still am not buying the 'we think they are equal in talent, etc.'. I still think its a smokescreen and they like Thomas better but I could be wrong.

Anyway I think taking Brown over Thomas will be a mistake and it's a typical Cardinal move IMO.

Inigo Montoya: That Vizzini, he can *fuss*.
Fezzik: Fuss, fuss... I think he like to scream at *us*.
Inigo Montoya: Probably he means no *harm*.
Fezzik: He's really very short on *charm*.
Inigo Montoya: You have a great gift for rhyme.
Fezzik: Yes, yes, some of the time.
Vizzini: Enough of that.
Inigo Montoya: Fezzik, are there rocks ahead?
Fezzik: If there are, we all be dead.
Vizzini: No more rhymes now, I mean it.
Fezzik: Anybody want a peanut?

Recent talk is that both Cleveland and Tampa have Thomas as the fallback in the event their top guy (Quinn and C Johnson, respectively) are gone

This is probably prep for the fans to take Brown at #5 in the event Thomas is gone

Better watch out Lobo, half the guys on this board have extensive film on all the linemen in the draft and if you ever question their input they will strike your opinions down and let you know that breaking down film is easy and something that anyone can do.

Gambit agrees. Wiz still has support but his obsession with turning us into Steelers Lite is a bit off-putting. But of course all is forgiven if he gets results.

Thomas is as sure as they come. He will not disappoint. DCR can only imagine what will happen on this board if we draft Brown, and we watch him have 2 false penalties in the same game.

DCR has been saying this forever. He is not worth the #5 pick. Get the extra pick and don't look back.

I'm really okay with taking Brown at #5...but not if Peterson and Thomas are on the board.

If the Cards are dead-set on taking Brown at that position, I really hope those guys have already been drafted.

Maybe Whis is blowing smoke, but I got the clear impression from both he and Graves that they believe the two are on the same level. Whis made a comment of picking the best player for their system if choosing between two players, and labeled Brown the superior run blocker. Again, maybe just a smoke screen, but from the tone of the interview it seems like Brown is the more likely pick than Thomas.

The only condition I would consider this a good move in would be if Thomas or Peterson were not available, and if we were able to pick up another high second round pick. Pick Zach Miller and a LB'er with the second round picks, and get a guy to return and that is something I could live with. I have a bad feeling about this one, and have serious questions about pass pro next year with a fragile Leinart.

I think good DB's can often be found in the lower rounds and often from smaller schools if you really do your homework and get lucky. Few no brainers like Deion come along. We have had more bad luck with DB's I think than any other position when drafting. We still do not know if our last high DB pick is going to be anything but average. He tackles well but lacks speed. This year should either be a breakout year for him or relegate him to just another average DB.

I really do not care who is there. I just want us to take the best of who is left and not make some wild a-- pick from out of the blue. I do not want to trade down and then have our first pick be someone who falls on his face come fall. Whiz does not want to start off his first draft with that monkey on his back if he indeed has real input as to who we take.
