I'm not clear on the rules these days so I was hoping someone could answer this question.

Would Robert Horry be suspended for Game 5 (and 6) by receiving the technical foul that disqualified him at the end of Game 4???

What is the ruling on that? Does getting kicked out a game for a hard foul (technical foul) automatically get you suspended for the next game?

I ask because I wonder had Amare and Diaw not gotten suspended...would Horry not be suspended either???

Some 'announcements' credit 2 game suspension for Horry because of the foul and elbowing Raja during the 'altercation'.
I don't think the official announcement stated that, however.

I think this is pretty much a 3 game suspension for Horry. If this series goes to a game 7 back in Phoenix, I would be shocked if Pop puts Horry in the game to ignite the crowd. Actually, I'd be shocked if they even let him suit up.

He was assessed a Flagrant 2 and therefore immediately ejected. A Flagrant 2 gives Horry two "flagrant points". If he commits another flagrant foul (1 or 2) anytime in the playoffs, he gets an automatic 1 game suspension because he would have 3 or more flagrant points.

fixed that for you...

I BELIEVE (I could be wrong) that Horry's suspension was more for the shot he took at Bell(?) during the altercation. {edit: sorry, errntknight--missed that you had covered this already}

I think they gave him 2 games to "make up" for us losing 2 players for one game when they knew that just wasn't right.

Horry got a flagrant foul 2 which gives him 2 points, (as stated before here) and then he was tossed.
He got a game suspension for starting the altercation, and another for the elbow to Bell.

I'm just trying to understand that if Amare and Diaw DID NOT leave the bench...would Horry even had been suspended for his part in the altercation?

Yes he got kicked out of the end of Game 4. But had AMARE and DIAW not been suspended for Game 5, would Horry still be able to play in Game 5?

I wonder this because if Horry would've still been available for tonights game (Game 5) and not be suspended, how could the NBA justify suspending Amare and Diaw and NOT Horry for Game 5 as well. In other words by Amare and Diaw leaving the bench...I think that forces the NBA to also suspend Horry?

Still the questions remains...had Amare and Diaw not left the bench, would Horry be available for tonights game. If so...that stupid rule of "leaving the vicinity of the bench" just got even more stupider, and if I was a Spurs fan I would be pissed at Amare and Diaw.

I think Horry still would have been suspended--but probably for just one game instead of two.

I don't think Amare & Diaw leaving the bench forced them to suspend Horry, just because their justification was that there was 'an altercation'. It's kind of backwards thinking. I think if Amare & Diaw stayed put, Horry would still be suspended--because there WAS an altercation, and he threw a "punch". I think they would have only made it one game, though.

You are absolutely right in that he would not have been suspended if no Suns were suspended. The reason he was suspended for two games is to make suspending Amare and Boris seem more fair.

Raja got a game suspension last year for hanging Kobe out to dry. Horry was going to get one game for checking Nash into the boards.

His other game is likely because of the forearm to Raja's neck (and a bit of makeup for getting Amare and Diaw out too). But he would have caught one game, on precedence.

Given that other cheap shots have gone without suspension this season (see: Warriors, Golden State) I have a hard time believing Horry would have missed any games. Though I think he deserved a game off, precedent that the league had set would deem no suspension.

keep in mind the extent of the foul.

the game is over, pretty much.

cheap shot bob knocked nash on his arse. davis didn't knock over fisher.

if cheap shot bob wanted a foul to stopt he game, all he had to do was touch nash, and a foul would have been called. thats the way the league works. if the losing team is:
down in points
no time outs
the refs will call a foul per the losing team.

If you get a flagrant 2 foul in the playoffs, don't you have to serve a 1 game suspension anyway? I thought that was a rule somewhere?

So some of us think he would've got suspended regardless, and some of us think he only got suspended because Amare and Diaw did (as a make-up call). Maybe there's no clear-cut answer, but one thing we do all know for sure is.... This is a bunch of horseshit!!! lol :p

now if was a straight up punch to the face, closed fist and all.

then forget the points system, you are gone from the current game and some games after that.
